It really is weirdly satisfying. I mean, you have a gift of being an amazing ASMRtist to begin with, but this trigger specifically is a lot more calming than I expected

i feel the same way! i feel like bc she’s an artist as well her tracing is very smooth so the visual asmr is really on point. i don’t really get tingles from visuals but this is an exception.

Hey Alise! I see a few people have already commented about the translation of 'oni', but I just wanted to add some extra info about why it is so hard to translate to English, in case you or anyone else is interested 🤓(Disclaimer: I am not an expert in mythology or folklore, I'm just very interested in it and I have done a lot of reading and research on folklore from different countries.) TL;DR version: Oni can roughly be translated to mean 'supernatural creature with an evil nature', which is similar to how Western, Judaeo-Christian societies define biblical demons, so we can use the word 'demon' as a fairly accurate translation, but folkloric words like 'troll' or 'ogre' can also be correct. Long version: An oni is type of yokai. Yokai in Japanese mythology fulfill a similar role to fairies/fey/sprites/imps/spirits etc in Old German, Gaelic, Norse and English folklore, before the introduction of Christianity. In both European and Japanese folklore, there are many different types of these creatures, which have different natures, personalities and relationships with humans. Some are good and kind, others are mischievous and tricksy, others are evil and dangerous, and some just want to be left alone (and might attack humans who enter their forests or rivers etc). Within the yokai 'family' there are many types of creatures, including obake (yokai that can shapeshift), tsukumogami (objects that become sentient), nekomata (anthropomorphic cat yokai), tsuchigumo (giant spider yokai), and oni (giant, cannibalistic yokai, usually with horrifying facial features like horns and fangs). As Christianity spread across Europe, the concept of fairies/spirits/fey etc got mixed in with biblical descriptions and understandings of demons, and the word 'demon' became the umbrella term for perhaps hundreds of folkloric creatures. So in modern Western society we don't really have a word for what an oni is. We can call them 'trolls' or 'ogres' or similar words, because they have similar characteristics to these creatures in folklore (they are big, hideous and eat people), or we can call them 'demons' because they have similar characteristics to biblical demons (they are evil and dangerous humanoid creatures with unnatural features). We could even just call them 'evil spirits', which would be the most accurate, but also kind of vague and not very exciting sounding. 😂 Side note: It's really important to remember that folklore is not standardised across a country. There were often different versions of a folk tale or creature description in every town or village in an area. None of these versions is the 'correct' version. They are all just variations of common idea. There is tons of information about yokai and oni out there. If you're interested, it's really interesting to read about, but be prepared for a lot of conflicting perspective and theories! 😅

Oni is probably closest to a demon. Technically it can be translated as orc and troll yet maybe these translations are used less.

鬼 certainly refers to a demon or evil spirit, but within the context of Japanese folklore, so it’s not perfectly equal to the English words used for it.

About the “changing colours thing” my eyes are usually a gray green but if I cry/get flushed/etc or wear any red the green REALLY pops! I think it’s lighting and colour reflections! Also for おに oni; you were right it’s ogre or demon! It’s a kind of 妖怪 yōkai !
