It’s cool seeing Dark Cloud 2 up there on the shelf. Have you ever played it? I remember seeing it at the store when I was a kid; I never got it but I was always intrigued. Anyway like a year or two ago I found and bought both Dark Cloud 1 and 2 on PSN (and, of course, eventually played through them). It was fun-like I was fulfilling a wish for my past kid self.

Dark cloud 2 is forever one of my favorite games! Although I didn't play the first dark cloud, am I missing out?

@@catplantASMR hmm… I would say that 2 is a much bigger and more sophisticated game than 1 so it could feel like a bit of a downgrade. For instance, there’s no camera or golf feature and the world is a lot less complex. The graphics are noticeably more simple (I don’t think there’s any voice acting either). But if you really liked the unique rpg and building mechanics of Dark Cloud 2 then you’d still probably enjoy Dark Cloud 1- besides it has its own charm. Oh and plus there’s a lot of Easter eggs in 2 that reference the first game. But I could totally see how someone might just not click with 1 the same way they did for 2. Personally since I played them one after the other, it’s sorta hard for me to separate them, if that makes sense? But I do appreciate how 1 is more toned down than 2. It’s funny, now that I’m thinking about it, I’m suddenly remembering that Dark Cloud 2 is surprisingly like one of the most complex games I’ve ever played. I don’t think my kid self would have even been able to figure out half of the game’s features. Maybe it was better that I played it as adult with access to the modern internet (and the slightest modicum of grown-up intelligence)?

I just finished Tales of Arise this past week on the xbox. Good game, the final subquest which wants you to be level 100 is torture. Made me give up trying to get all achievements.

omg level 100? Sheesh that's a grind dang.

@@catplantASMR It actually isn't too horrible of a grind really. Once you get to the end of the game there is a sub quest / dungeon where you go from around level 60 to around 97 just by fighting the enemies and the boss of each floor as long as you have the proper exp boost items. So getting to level 100 really just requires playing through all of the quest and sub quest. The level 100 sub quest though is to fight through the main bosses back to back, them being level 95 - 99. Then you fight them again two at a time with a new one jumping in as soon as you kill one. All without being able to stop and heal or purchase new items. I tried 5 times and gave up trying to complete all that.
