I’m a pretty experienced runner who’s had his fair share of injuries. If you’re having trouble walking around then you’re probably past the point where you could try to train through the injury and you should definitely just take as much time off as you need until there is absolutely no pain anymore. Don’t keep running as long as the pain is really bad or else you’ll end up needing physical therapy or surgery if it gets really bad. In order to help the injury and get back to running, relax, eat well, stretch, and ice up as much as possible throughout the day. Make sure you find a good stretching routine online. In terms of preventing injuries in the future, make sure that you are stretching after your runs every time you run (not before, rather than extensive stretching beforehand, do some dynamics) and listen to your body. The more experience you gain as a runner and the more you do it, the more your body will become resistant to injuries. Unfortunately, injury is just part of the sport of distance running and it happens to everyone. What really matters is how you bounce back from it and recover. Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for the tips!! This ramble is pretty old so I actually took almost the whole month of May off and picked it up again recently. I just finished week 2 of the program. I’m working with a pt now and hopefully going to avoid it getting that bad again!

Hey bee 👋 I used to be running allot more than I am now. I still run about 15-20km a week, along with mtb cycling. There are couple things you can do as far as I know. Make sure you have proper running shoes. They have to be obv road runing shoes. I'm using zoom fly, but any shoes that will absorb some of the impact. Make sure not to over stride, do not land on your heels. Try to land on the midsole. When running try to shovel your legs. What I mean is when you're running try to strike underneath yourself. If you're new to running take it easy. You should stretch, I never do. I haven't got enough time to do that. But warm up, a min or two of dynamic warm up. If this doesn't help introduce some knee strengthing exercises. All of the above tips help me with my knee pain. And I had rly bad knees, I was taking pain killers after damaging my knees at one point. Walking, bending my knees was a nightmare. I had to go for scans on my knees. Give yourself time, take it easy, do not give up on running. Easy off if you have to but stay running. Eventually pain will go away. And enjoy the running 🤙👍💪

Thanks so much for the tips!! I’ve been working with a PT and doing some exercises and I’m also going to get new shoes cuz mine are from like 2017. I also never stretch but def should lol

Oh no I’m so sorry!! My cat passed at that age a couple years ago, he was the sweetest boy! I’m happy you got so much time with him 💖

Super tingly 🥰😍I'd love to give you some advice on running because I do run few times a week ( not for miles but my pt makes me lol ) and everytime I do I hate it 😂😂😂

You could try taping your knees or altering your running technique but obviously it depends on what exactly is causing the pain on what will help (I know very little about running but have hyper mobile joints so always have knee and joint pain so know a little bit about coping with and managing it)

It could also be or do with your posture, and positions/angle of your feet so good running shoes could help?

even if it hurts, keep going, don’t stop running unless the pain is in your joints or unbearable! You can run slower but never stop running!! & don’t focus too much on breathing :)

and you have to stretch dynamically before running and do static stretches after👍

when i run, if it gets super hard to keep going, i just tell myself to go for example to the next tree. then, when i get to that place i tell myself to go to the next "landmark" (tree, bush, telephone post, etc.). dont stop even if it hurts because eventually, the pain will go away. cant really help with the knee pain but hope you feel better!!
