In Chinese we call this “豆花” (dou`hua) which basically means bean curd, but in English we can call this tofu pudding or soybean pudding. It’s actually the predecessor form of tofu, so basically if the water is driven out of the “tofu pudding” and hardened, then it becomes tofu. It’s a very common dessert here in Taiwan and is usually soaked in sugary water, I’m glad you liked it~ And yes, you should have definitely put that in a bowl! With the “toppings” on “top” lol. That’s how it’s usually eaten.
