I think what amazed me the most is fact he went through that game in like 5 minutes, honestly I couldn't imagine how long the actual game took when it was originally played

It could even be played by letter if it wasn't a tournament one, and those took months. The Opera Game took place in 1858, and the first chess clock was invented in 1883. Moreover, Paul Morphy (white player and winner) was playing against two opponents who were discussing the movements with themselves. So, although we can't really know how long it took (although it was played during the representation an opera and lasted LESS that the opera itself), I'd be very surprised that it took only ten minutes considering every circumstance known. Sorry if this is too long to read, sometimes I get carried away when I'm interested in something

Loved the format man, thx for the effort you put in your videos everytime. Followed all your tips and after one day I can still remember this great game. I think it would be a great video idea to give some tips to help people play chess in their head without a chessboard. I'm 1300 and after some basic opening theory I cant keep track of moves in my had so after this type of video, I would love to see some of your tips regarding this other topic.

My chessup board came in recently just after christmas. And I LOVE IT. I am no where near a pro. I know how each piece can move. But I dont know legit strategies. I just sort of wing it with no purpose other than hoping to win. The AI still beats me up and I make many mistakes. But I absolutely love this board. Its fun! Thank you for sharing this video I always love your chess videos.

I’m listening with my eyes closed to work on my blindfold. At 2:32 you say Bishop f5 but it’s bishop g5. I only know because I’m so used to playing bishop f4 and know that f5 is a light square.

That is the main move in the position. From there you can go into the Italian Game with bishop to c4 or the the Ruy Lopez with bishop to g5. You can also play knight to c3. There are many many many opening options in chess :)

No :) the rook is protected by the bishop so the king is not allowed to capture the rook, since that would put the king in check from the bishop which is not allowed.

I’m about 1300-1400 blitz. What I can say is first learn an opening for white and black. Study it’s mainline move order and maybe some tricks of the opening of it has any like a gambit or dubious opening that’s not common. Then do puzzles to see tactics and combos and get more comfortable with them. And just study basic principles of chess like develop pieces, castle, and make sure pieces are defended and not hanging. Just take your time, think before moving, and let your opponent make the first mistake/blunder.
