The last tip... is the best tip I've ever gotten for chess. I get way too anxious to play chess because I'm too afraid to lose. The perspective that the pain of the mistakes I make are actually me improving, makes me feel a whole lot better. I didn't expect this to be so EMOTIONAL. Thank you so much 🥺

Your videos are the best. I love your perspective on playing and enjoying the game. I struggle with wanting to be "perfect" at something the first time, and with chess you tend to lose a LOT at the beginning. It can be disheartening. Your videos really help me to "lighten up" and enjoy the process!

Although I am not a beginner, it is extremely refreshing to be able to look at chess through a simple and concrete perspective, and it is also very relaxing. @ASMR Chess great video as always! Just wanted to point out a tiny mistake though. @ 40:15 you show how to make a discovered attack with the rook and king vs the knight and bishop. But unfortunately this particular example does not work since with black to move, the bishop can simply capture the rook and both threats are gone lol Love the content, you've single handedly gotten me into chess and ive gone from a complete beginner to a current rating of ~1000. Keep up the great work!

Actually, the term "rookie" in sports isn't directly derived from the rook in chess. It's believed to have originated from the 19th-century military term "recruit," which referred to someone new to a group or organization. Over time, "rookie" became the term for a player in their first year in a professional sports league. The rook in chess, on the other hand, gets its name from the Persian word "rukh," which means chariot.

God I loved that I won my chess tournament like 20 years ago mainly from all these tricks in 3rd grade probably only one who played chess with my dad on a regular lol beat the principle too, not too hard just strategies and goin on, never played a pro, probably had all memories and how to counter, never did that just nice starters and go from the there, computer is annoying as shows all possible movements. Dumbs it down more, part of it is going off of random stuff
