I've always wondered about basic strategy's assumption of a dealer ten hole card. There are 16 ten value cards k, 32 actual face number cards and 4 aces per deck. I understand that even "basic" strategy is based upon serious math but there is a 4/13th chance of a ten hold card, an 8/13th chance of a number card and a 1/13th chance of an ace as the hole card. Even given the wonderment, basic strategy is a must for the casual player.

at 37:41. dealer hits on a 14 when we have a 13, but since he already has more than us, why would the dealer hit, wouldn't he automatically win since he went from 13 to 14 and we had 13? I would think dealer would stand unless he's letting us win

Dealer has a set of rules they play by. They must hit until they get to 17 or higher, in which case they stand.
