I've been on quite a few excavations and data recovery projects. Maybe 1-5% of archaeologists use face masks. You know, because we don't need them in the field? I just use a facial covering to protect from the weather and insects. Not a face mask.

I really appreciate the deep existential symbolism of this video. How when we as an individual become stuck in life, time seems to stand still. And the hieroglyphs tell the story of our lives and how we got to be where we are. Your video continues to illustrate the power of human connection when someone takes an interest in our lives and attempts to help free us from the bondage of our present circumstances. I found this channel a few days ago by sheer dumb luck. It was 3 am, I'm sick with a fever and scrolling through the recommendations page. I tend to watch ASMR whenever I need to sleep better but in this case the usual stuff wasn't working. I eventually conked out and I woke up hours later found this video in my watch history. If it is buried in water or soil, the exposure to oxygen will crumble whatever survived for hundreds or even thousands of years, in a matter of hours or minutes. In general, don’t excavate yourself. Call your local historical museum, sometimes the context is vastly more important than the artefacts. Treat it like a crime scene - observe, contact authorities, and don’t touch anything!

I've recently been listening to a horror podcast called The White Vault that is genuinely terrifying and all the events take place around or in archaeological places with massive new discoveries that turn deadly fast. So as I'm watching this there's a little voice in the back of my head going "No! Don't inspect it, just run!" A really good video (all horror aside lol) I'm surprised that I didn't find this channel earlier!
