one of those plastic water bottles that looks like a bag is helpful! theyre usually sold in camping stores and you can flatten it down to nothing when empty, go through security, then fill it up at a fountain before getting on the plane! then you dont have to pay $6 for water

Goodness, my legs/knees would be killing me on that long a trip in economy! I never seem to have enough room! It is too late for this advice, but for the future: There seems to be a little more legroom in the exit door row (depending on the plane, of course), because of the row space needed to accommodate the exit door. I would suggest always trying to get a ticket in that row for long flights. Safe travels!

I fly 7-8h economy flights many times a year. A neck pillow, comfy clothing, and water helps a lot. A good book is great, but most planes probably have movies as well :) don't forget to pick your seat in advance online so you get the one you want!

I have heard "drink lots of water" from several people so I guess I will be visiting the bathroom a lot. :D

Asmr Vids You won't. I fly 7 to 10 hours frequently (Brussels to NYC or Brussels to ATL), and drink all the water and drinks that they offer on the plane (I use Delta, who give an ample supply), and I might have to go to the bathroom maybe once during those 10 hours, usually not with 7 hours. The air is very dry on the plane. And the toilets are not so bad. My suggestions: 1. Use the bathroom right after you get off the plane, and before going through customs, or you might get stuck in a customs line for an hour while you need a desperate wee. 2. For the TSA check, wear loose shoes (also handy for plane), don't wear belts or anything metally, and never ever put those small things (change from pockets, keys, your watch) into a smaller bin they provide (they can tip over inside the scanner. I lost my apartment keys that way) but put it in a pocket of your jacket (which you take off and put in a larger bin), or in a bag. This will speed up your turn at the TSA things. Don't forget to take out everything from your pants pockets (including paper stubs). 3. Don't buy a passport cover. Customs hate them, and it will take time to take it out of the sleeve. 4. On the plane: if you're really thirsty, ask for two drinks at a time. They don't mind. They are not as generous with snacks. 5. Check online which kind of seats you'll have on seatguru. If you can decide yourself where you'll sit, (check your flight check-in on the airway site), do so as quickly as possible, to avoid being seated apart from each other. Seatguru will also show you what is available on the plane (wifi, personal entertainment, USB, ?). 6. If not seated on an aisle, get up every time the aisle seater gets up. You might not get a chance once they've fallen asleep. 7. Don't put your seat all the way back unless the sleep lights are on (they will make the cabin darker to help with sleep), because you are inconveniencing the person behind you. It's one of my pet peeves, being seated behind someone who immediately puts the seat all the way down from right after the ascension without a reason. It narrows everything, and you end up having to do the same, and still lose space to read a book or view a show. 8. If you have WiFi on the plane, know that they do not allow Netflix or Hulu streaming. I have found that Khan academy streaming is fine, and most KZbin videos. If WiFi is expensive, check their website (above 10k feet, I think?) first, because sometimes you can easily use one of their links to go behind their site. I found game links often divert to the outside, and you can browse if you open it in another tab (cf on a tablet). 9. Make sure before TSA to check that your largest electronic devices (tablets and laptops) are in your carry on and easy to take out for them. I usually cluster smartphone in a Ziploc bag with Nintendo DS and all wires, to easily take out. they don't need that for smartphones, but I've had a question about the Nintendo DS. 10. Medication for the trip, you can easily pack in your carry-on or purse. I've taken a 3 month supply once of 8 different meds (for possible illnesses), and they never asked. Use original packaging. If taking anything weird, consider asking your medical doctor to write a simple statement what it is and what you need it for, or just keep a card from them in it. Have not yet had questions for my epilepsy meds or epi pen. Nasal sprays are also exempt from the liquid rule. I usually put all meds in a Ziploc bag anyway. 11. Check the rules on luggage. Most airlines allow you to have a plastic bag with you that already contains your reading material and everything for on the plane, outside your carry-on. I've had only one airline ask to please place the bag on the carry-on for boarding the plane, to send the message to others that I only had one carry-on item and one personal item (big purse). You can also use a regular tote bag as your personal item if you put a purse (or other personal item) inside it. I've traveled with a carry-on, purse, and tote bag of books and food, for about 12 international flights so far. 12. Bring your own food or snacks for the plane. I've noticed they don't mind prepacked snacks (think cereal boxes, candies, boxed prepared fruit (no liquids!), ... I've brought sandwiches with PBJ a few times as well (although peanut butter smells and isn't exactly allergy friendly). I'm very allergic to citrus fruits, which isn't a regular allergen and thus not mentioned, so bringing my own food has been a great help for me. Also, plane food has been sucking less and less over the years. They are getting the hang of cooking in high altitudes. It's not gourmet, but it's often very edible.

Wow! Thank you! I hadn't thought about the best way through TSA. I have most of my electronics in a small back pack but I like the clear plastic bag idea.

I hate wall plug adapters when travelling overseas. I despise Indonesian ones. Their wall sockets have like 8 holes but the adapter I had only was 2 pronged causing it to fall out countless times. It made me so MAD.
