I mean *sips the remainder of not so black coffee from the cup*, I could understand why anyone other than human would think so *having headache clear out and going to get a second (or actually, 5th cup of coffee today). But it's all lies! LIES! Seriously though, I love the way this whole story has gone. I mean from near-pacifists to actual genocidal maniacs (in the eyes of others), when factually nothing has changed. War. War never changes. There are dozens of nice stories about how humanity would be seen as peaceful and pitiful by other species, however when thrown back against the wall? Yeah. The gloves come off. And then not a single entity around is going to have nice day.

I've just recently stumbled across these stories, and I've been hooked at first listen. It's cool to actually hear stories involving space, where humans are actually the docile, but feared entities. In this type of story, humans are usually depicted as feeble minded weaklings of a race, quickly dominated by other more technologically advanced and stronger races of beings. It's kinda refreshing and very much enjoyable.

i've really been enjoying the story especially the first book but one thing i've been noticing with this continuation one is why does it feel like huge battle cruisers feel like they lack man power and seem to only have a limited amount of soldiers unless all the ships are now tiny but as a general of the federation military you would think he would be commanding a flagship with thousands or tens of thousands of people onboard. The ending of the last book kinda didn't make sense spoiler alert what was to come with how the book ended i would assume the intelligence department would catch the message before it arrived to its destination seeing how they didn't trust the individual in the first place and have him being watched around the clock.

There's a problem, of course, with trying to change the future where Rykov dies and is sent back in time. And that problem is that there's the body of Rykov sitting in a base somewhere. Along with an entire ship full of other bodies. No, it's not an existential problem... it's a physical one. There's a fair amount of mass/energy that exists now that didn't exist before. And a fair amount that used to exist in a future universe and now doesn't. Maybe it does nothing... maybe it's enough to jump start a false vacuum decay event (which kills us all eventually)... and maybe it completely destabilizes the unification of the universe causing the natural processes we define using scientific laws to upend and the universe stops working as it does now (which kills us all immediately). For the sake of telling a story, it's safe to assume that the universe is still stable because events are set to happen as before. But if Rykov successfully avoids going back in time, it could mean the death of everyone everywhere eventually or immediately. Or nothing. The better plan would be to try surviving the trip back in time, rather than preventing the trip back in time. And surviving in a way that still sets the series of events in motion that sends him back in time. Best case scenario: Rykov gets sent back in time, and then it turns out that Rykov woke up from his self-induced coma and secretly set a trap for the Pisces over the five days this takes place. Or 10 days, depending on what was going on earlier.

To think this story came from Reddit of all places 😂👌 it's great, but the platform it was posted on is not. 4:56 despite this being a new standalone book, it's still part of canon lore, sad and amusing to think humans were categorized as one of the most peaceful creatures in the galaxy a few years ago, only to be then classified as one of the most dangerous AFTER SAVING THE FEDERATION FROM THE DEVOURERS! And the amount of racism and xenophobia the humans face now because of such a heroic "humanitarian" act, once labelled as cowards, now labelled as monsters. 11:11 damn...what the hell could do such damage to a Terran battleship? It became a horror ship. 15:41 "most of the files were corrupted beyond repair." We're so advanced, yet still we can't seem to retrieve corrupted data, what the Fuck. 35:44 Jatari? A Jatari Secret Facility? If I remember correctly, Kilon is a Jatari I think, if that is the case......whatever is inside that facility needs to be uncovered immediately. Kinda wish they gave more clarity and visual help as to what the other species look like. 54:32 I'm disappointed at how soft the humans are here 🤦♂️ and they paid the price, Rykov maybe a great military general, but his interactions with the spy Kilon has weakened him. 1:29:53 I'm conflicted when it comes to rykovs death, my genius patriotic pro humanity first side sees that his death will benefit humanity ( even though it would be sad that such a Great military leader would have to pass away, we have many replacements, only concern now is that he has become accidentally a symbol of human military might, labelled a "warcriminal savage scum" by many of the galactic Community, aside from his symbolic meaning, he can be replaced ) everything he has done ( aside from his justified actions that saved the universe but that much of the galactic Community has stupidly labelled "Warcrimes by savages" 🤦♂️👎) that has weakened humanity will be undone, like welcoming a traitorous spy Kilon that revealed our state secrets to the Jatari and so on, but my other stupid side just wants him to survive for reasons.
@elduquecaradura1468 Жыл бұрын
about the corrupted data... I guess that doesn't matter how much advance technology, data will be stored in a similar fashion that we store data in our braincells, so if enough damage due then the info will start cutting even more than present damage (imagine 50% of data storages damaged, but lost over 75% of data in the process) about the Jatari's base...: it passed some days since the end of "Why Humans Avoid War" and I suspect that the bottle that Kilon gived to his compatriot with nanite blood might end up in Jatari's hands... or tentacles, I'm not sure about that and to be fair he has reasons to do such thing, doesn't want to see his race fall below another just like that, so with the nanite blood and between some other stuff, are probably testing their own super bombs and nanites stuff just to try to be at human's level

Its a different take on the first contact with aliens acenario. You know how aliens are always stronger, have better tech and so on. Humans are space orks is the exact opposite. Where we have better tech and physical feats far above the galactic average. Its a fun take on the genre and if well written can be very entertaining and make us appreciate the complex wonders of our physiology and mind. Hope it helps and i hope you enjoy it as much as i do!

@@timolo0411doesn’t sound like orcs. Sounds more like high elves. Orcs have crude and outdated technology and use whatever they can to get the job done as well as their physical prowess. Kinda like how the imperium of mankind is. Even they have direct space orcs called orks.
