Good tips here, thanks! I downloaded headunit reloaded app and tried the wireless method as shown here. It works. Now I dont have to install an expensive android system in my old car, I can just use the app and my old spare android phone as the tablet. andorid auto is working now. Another thing, and the best part, it is capable of connecting to the stereo system in the car. Just pair your spare tablet/phone with the bluetooth in the car

I got an error with the cable method that the Android versions were not compatible enough but eventually it worked anyway! The advantage of the wireless method is that you can then charge the devices otherwise in my case connecting via USB C to C just meant my phone drained the battery of the tablet. In the end I got a deal for a dedicated 10.3 inch screen around $60 which will be easier

Can you power both phone and tablet, and still connect them to each other using a cable? I guess you need to connect the audio to the car aux. I have a USB C cable that connects my phone's USB C port to the car power and audio. If I now connect that to the tablet, how do I connect the tablet to the phone, and still power the phone? Will the power pass through with these devices?

As in my case, I ride a motorcycle and I own a Samsung S22 Ultra. If I mount my phone or any other high-end phone to the handlebar, I will damage the camera due to the extreme vibration applied on the optical stabilization system in the lenses. So, I had to find an old phone or something to mount on the handlebar. That's one example.

Because the tablet does not have any mobile data or GPS. It is simply a larger screen to connect your android device to for easy access to its functions like GPS and music. Most new cars already have big screens. Older ones no. So if you would rather use your smaller android phone with no android auto thats fine. Its a preference lol.

Well if you have DEX on your tablet then you can open any apps simultaneously and resize them to your liking on your screen . For me I can use 6 screens on my a9plus 128 gb 8 GB RAM I could even watch a movie listening to music while using google maps I can use google commands to text talk and web browsing not that I would do all these while driving but yea everything I want even cod game . Just need to use Bluetooth Easy option if you tablet is equipped with it

Android Auto and your car aren't the same. It's just not supported, unless you have a Go-Pro or something like that (NOT your car's camera).

Make sure Android Auto is turned off on your tablet. If you don't you keep getting the self mode screen from your tablet's AA, instead of the settings-screen of the HUR app.

So everytime you get into your car, you have to set the tablet and your phone and let both batteries drained off especially when using wi-fi mode? how are you going to charge your tablet and phone if using USB mode when you have to travel 300km? with the cable tangling here and there, hahaha Not to mention you need 2 holders, one for the table another one for the phone. Why can't we just put our phone on the holder, and forget this tablet shitty system? So we can all brmmmmmmmmmm brrrrrrmmmmm within 2 secs.
