The rollback of reproductive rights, the push to end no-fault divorce, and gun laws that allow domestic abusers to own a firearm are turning the clock back on women’s rights. How can women preserve their freedoms?

Hurray for Katie Porter! She is right that Biden has been a really good president though a mediocre debater. If Couric is right about people just "waking up" and feeling Biden is too old, where the hell were they several years ago when they could have been searching for and "grooming" a Democrat to run in 24?? It is too darn late for them to start whining now (I am disappointed in Couric's comments).

Biden is the Democrats' Presidential candidate. To change now shows fear, trepidation & uncertainty in our own policies & representatives. We MUST all vote blue to protect our democracy - not only for President but for Congress, state & local elections. Biden needs a good support system to surround him - not only his VP & Cabinet, but Congress so that he doesn't have to constantly fight against the GOP's petty crap just to be able to do his job. We also need to be proactive, not just reactive, on the issues & correspond not only with Biden & our members of Congress, but Biden's Cabinet & VP Harris (because they hold the keys to our future also). An email only takes a few minutes to write & corresponding with the VP & Cabinet helps them do their jobs better because they know firsthand, what issues concern Americans.

Biden is not senile, but there is clearly something medically going on at this time. Just because someone has done a good job in the past doesn't mean that they will do a good job in the future if they're not medically able. I think he is in a cognitive decline and a medical decline that's going to impact his ability to hold the office in the future. Whether you like it or not, the majority of the American people are seeing this. If people keep their head in the sand about this, Trump will win.

I have followed President Biden since he was head of the Judiciary Committee that sent Clarence Thomas to full Senate for their endorsement to the Supreme Court, without actually endorsing him. The Committee vote was actually 7 for and 7 against. He was always an extraordinary advocate for all Americans, probably the most effective and relied upon vice-president since America was born, and an accomplished statesman. He is currently rated by historians as the eleventh best president ever, in his first term! He would have had an even bigger impact on jobs, uplifting the poor, climate change, redistribution of wealth, and border/immigration improvements if not for total opposition from the current do-nothing congressional leadership. We would be nuts to not support the best president in my baby-boomer lifetime for re-election.

Why aren’t we contrasting what Biden actually said in response to the debate questions with what trump said? Doing this forum and conference people around the country can vote for her. Thank you all, this was powerfully important. In the 70s, I was dating an abusive alcoholic. When the cops were called, they would say, “ what did you do to deserve it? Or you’re not gonna make us take him to Saginaw are you? You’ll just be back in his bed tonight.” Project 25 will take us back to that time in our history. The gathering of powerful women like you amazingly wise speaker’s is critical at this time so we don’t go backwards. Now is the time to stand up and speak out. And Kaite Porter, I would love to see you in a debate with Donald Trump. He wouldn’t know what hit him. I hope you run for president someday, you certainly have my vote.

Biden worked on building the most competent administration team even before he won office in 2020, and that team can keep doing a great job even if Biden's health goes to h3ck or even if Biden dies in office. I'd prefer to stick with Biden despite his health issues because I'm voting for a great administrative team that believes in democracy and working together for the people and the planet. I'm confident that if Biden declines, his team will keep it all going, with or without him, and that Biden can be persuaded to step aside and let Kamala do the job when he realizes he can't do it the way it deserves to be done. He already did so once when having his colonoscopy procedure, I've nor reason to think Joe will not hand off power when his health is failing even temporarily, or that the White House team would not use the 25th amendment rapidly to replace Joe if he should become incapacitated and unable to do his job. This is very different from how DJT behaved while in office; when DJT thought he might be dying of COVID and let his doctors bully him into going to the hospital, he did not hand off power to Pence, rather he would have clung to power until he died while in office, and if he had ended up in a vegetative state, the country would have been left without leadership too long while those GOP jockeying for power got around to using the 25th amendment to replace DJT. Also DJT doesn't build a great competent team around himself, only a cult of personality, his admin had the highest turnover and infighting (which DJT enjoyed) of almost any POTUS, and sometimes it was incapacitating. DJT doesn't want highly competent people in office who will challenge what he says, rather he puts people in office who will always kiss up to him, even if that means they are incompetent and don't do their jobs or allow their departments to do their jobs. That is one of the scariest parts of DJT's Project 2025, is that they plan to purge the entire executive branch of anyone who doesn't pass their Trump loyalist test, and they will replace all the fired people with Trump loyalists, even though that means they will be putting incompetent people into jobs that really need highly competent people, such as managing nuclear power plants and the nuclear arsenal.

@@gerriperreault6905are you brainwashed? Biden has gotten weapons to those allies with real reason to need them and stopped or slowed offensive weapons to the ally that has been misusing them. And he found work-around, requiring huge efforts by our own service members, to get aide to people who need it. But a huge ship, like the cornerstone of U.S. foreign relations, cannot turn on a dime. I was angry for a time about Biden's reluctance to change U.S. policy when it comes to Israel, but I now understand that facts needed to be verified and a whole new strategy in the region needed to be thought out and negotiated with other powers in the region. And he heard the calls for an end to the bloodshed and the starvation....it is Netanyahu and Putin who haven't.

Historian Heather Cox Richardson writes: Gish Gallop, "It's a rhetorical technique in which someone throws out a fast string of lies,non-sequiturs, and specious arguments, so many that it is impossible to fact-check or rebut them in the amount of time it took to say them. Trying to figure out how to respond makes the opponent look confused, because they don't know where to start grappling with the flood that just happened. It's a form of gaslighting". For me as a voter, there was no debate, gaslighting took it. The monitors delivered gaslighting for us shutting off the mich did nothing. Some men just are not civil. Would party policy written, and read aloud for at least this election cycle actually give the voter the chance to know policy proposed? I think so.

Instead of a typical presidential debate I would rather have the candidates (Biden, Trump) sit down individually/separately and give long form answers to serious questions that a president would actually deal with. Then show the responses side by side, no cutting or editing, no help, no notes. Two minute answers is ridiculous.

When Katie Porter says that women feel like this in everyday life that they are repressed she is right. All you need to do is go into any type of medical industry. Although there are great women doctors the male to women ratio of power with men having more power. Just see how a nurse is treated when a doctor speaks. And if you've been in a delivery room you know those nurses do most the work. And this is just one major industry. To be a fly on the wall of all the rest this is why women always vote with men.

Something I discovered by listening to Thom Hartmann and then investigating on my own is this. Right after the Equal Rights Amendment for men was signed into being, and Equal Rights Amendment for Women was brought into being by the ERA. For almost 40 years it circulated amongst the states, it lacked 16 states fir it to be ratified and placed inyo the constitution! In 2021 a republican based group brought it in front of a sympathetic Federal judge who dismissed it as expired. Attempts had been made to extend the deadline but were stalled by republican politicians. Thom Hartmann reported in 2022 that 244 womens rights bills were set to be re-ratified by congress as they have been every 10 years, dome since the early 1900s. Not one House nor Senate republican politician voted for them...not one! These had to be re-done every 10 years because republican politicians refused to vote for them otherwise. 2023 Rowe v Wade was dismissed by the Republican appointed Justices on the Supreme. Afterwards Red states put into place prepared anti abortion laws that they had formated as soon as it was known the Justices had accepted the case. Now I am hearing politicians state women have too much power, they shouldn't vote, go to college, have control over their own bodies as to how many children they bare and on and on. They are on a roll to put women back into the 1800s when we had no control over anything!

Dangerous to change horses in the middle of the stream. ALL of Katie Porter"s talking points are true in my view. We'll just come out on more solid ground as a country, if we START working on them and not kid ourselves about trying to scurry around to find a NEW presidential candidate for the 2024 election. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. Change, yes. TIMING deserves attention. I think everything fantasized and projected at this late date, in some insane dash to find 'a savior', reflects that discomfort from such voices reacting this way- NOW. Voices of those who are perhaps (unconsciously) conditioned to avoid FACING the truth, in the (life)time that kind of real change Katie Porter points to, requires. AND that change to stand and confront skillfully requires REAL skills needed by each of us. Reactionism and judgmentalism are OUT, folks. It's personal coping skills building time.
