As an Aspergers person I've observed I can overwhelm others with simple logic. It's a two way street of understanding.

I agree, and because of most of my explanations are quite elaborate, and my obsession with words meant that people often struggle to understand me and they either walk away or hit me

I beg to differ. Aspies don't overwhelm others with "logic". What happens is that the long-winded, pedantic, uninterrupted, and often dull (to the listener) diatribe of FACTS is disturbing and irritating to the so-named Neurotypicals. I know. I've been with an Aspie male for over 2 years. We're ending our relationship because of his 1. refusal to find out for sure if he has it 2. his absolute inability to express emotion and feelings 3. his inadequacy in bed 4. his inability to carry on a flowing, reciprocal conversation 5. his utter stubbornness and 6. but not the last is his obsession with his "special interests". He is mean, cruel, inconsiderate and insensitive. Aspie through and through. He does have good points but the Aspie characteristics far outweigh his gardening abilities and his nice big house. Screw that. Give me a tent and I'd be happier. Edit: Oh by the way, he has what appears to be mild OCD, ADHD, ticks and twitches, and adheres to a rigid daily routine on his workdays. Also has funny habits. Has 6 pair of women's underpants, is a hoarder and a clutterer, and there is awful squalor in parts of the house, i.e. the garage, the basement, the cold storage room, and the unused bathroom. Ugh.

@@MrAlex731 No. Don’t take it out of context. She is describing HER boyfriend and only him. His Aspie ways varies from others. I don’t take offense from her comment. People need to stop taking EVERYTHING personal, specially online. My brother can be those things she mentioned on top of being super loving and emotional at times. We cry together for just how much we love each other.💓 But he lacks enthusiasm and that can be frustrating but that is why I’m here. To read everyone’s personal experiences. Peace!

My son has anger issues as well. I feel it is a reaction to an extreme level of anxiety and frustration. We are working to help him identify the emotion and then replace the anger with a more appropriate,response. Not that it isn’t ok to become angry but how you act on the anger is what needs to be reframed.

Concerned Mother of Three , l am right here beside you. One half-day of high scbool left for my senior son, and he is short 1/2 credit. We don't know if he'll graduate in 2 days. Contacted all teachers for years trying to educate them about how to navigate the "Elephant in the room" who is defiant, "lazy", "disrespectful", won't turn in assignments, etc. This is a new type of brain function on such a gigantic scale, and our personal experience is through no fault of their own, that teachers have no clue in generating positive outcomes. Our home is not a happy place tonight. Burning down the house and other creative ways to deal with the unbearable, unimaginable and insurmountable load of stress our kids shoulder shreads a mothers' heart on a daily basis. l hear you. l was blessed to have found Asperger Experts two weeks ago. l LISTENED tonight (while l very fervently stormed heaven for peace to saturate every cell of my son's being). l have hope. l have introduced my family as well as our son to AE's videos and information. We don't know what will be the "thing" that causes the shift in his heart to give up and trust in one more therapist or program or therapy or series of tests. l hope that we can tap into something that will clear a pathway for our son to climb up and out of the deep hole he feels trapped in. l'm encouraging you to know that you are not alone. The resources from this group are the simplest and most concise l've come across. We are all in this together! ♡

I had to tell my counselor and psychiatrist that I believe im on the spectrum and don't separately suffer from light, hearing, and pressure (touch) sensory issues, bad eye contact, speaking too loud, extreme picky eating, OCD, bipolar 1, anxiety, dyslexia, extreme phobias, and memory issues/brain fog. It's ALL explained by Asperger's (ASD). They told me they don't know much about ASD, but "let's continue your Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. IT'S NOT FOCUSED ON WHAT I NEED HELP WITH 😆.

Claydood don't even try. Its not worth it. There are no support services so there is zero point to getting an adult autism diagnosis. No one will believe you wether you have a an official diagnosis or not. It is up to you and what you believe about your self. All you can do is educate yourself and take good care of your health. Probably, but you don't want to self-diagnose. Go to a doctor. I'm in the same boat; I've been doing research about High Functioning Autism and Asperger's over the last couple months, and I'm pretty sure I'm in there somewhere. I plan on seeing a therapist sometime in the near (hopefully) future for it. As a 33 year old, it's a bit of a shock to realize I may have something like this. But it fits so amazingly well.

If you fit every symptom, you would be the first I've heard of. We vary a lot. Some of us are like Rainman, some of us have goldfish memories. Both are Autistic traits, obviously you can't have both of those traits. Same deal with dyslexic and hyperlexic. I'll do an Aspie answer to your question, just for a giggle; It doesn't appear to be dangerous.
@Boredom_Incarnate
@Boredom_Incarnate 7 жыл бұрын
It's strange because I don't have any of the "cons" described in these videos with Asperger's, but I still have a concerning amount of the "traits" and "symptoms". I don't have real issue with social interaction or being in large gatherings where the social element can be overwhelming and yet I have difficulty looking people in the eyes, I find myself saying I'm "honest or trying to be helpful" when others say I'm "blunt, rude, or giving unwanted advice", there's the social disconnect of not really thinking the same way others do, and listening to videos describing other traits feels like someone is describing me almost to a T. Is it possible I don't have Asperger's and I'm just weirdly similar in most aspects or is it safe to assume I'm just fortunate to not have or have learned to deal with the social elements without recognizing if I had them to begin with?

Clintos Johnson I can't put my self in your shoes, but I assure you the more you learn about it the more you can cope. My 19 year old son has, as I suspect you do, a very mild (disguised almost) form of asperger and he was diagnosed only at fourteen when he started to become depressive. and that happened because he used to think that all his inadequacies were his fault, because he suffered bullying, etc. Right now my job is to make him understand that he must relearn how to do whatever makes him happy, and that's where you'll find your place, your friends and your vocation. PEASE REMEMBER: 1- Autism is hereditary... so... 2- THERE ARE NO NORMAL PEOPLE, if you look closely at those who claim they are you'll find that they're the most abnormal ones. 3- Even though I'm neurotypic I always thought, acted and behaved out of the box, so I was an outcast, it was only when I dedicated myself to my own interests that I was able to find real friends. 4- Read #2 over and over again.

Aspergers people have veey low Emotional intelligence ...tend to be selfish and can't understans or seem to care about the feelings of those around them...even if its mild...it sucks!!!

Completely false. I'm so sick of these complete lies about how there's no empathy from us. See you kidding me? We FEEL so much but don't know how to express it so we meltdown over these feelings you all say we don't have. Interesting. And that's "selfish" of us. I know.... Right? Wtf dude
