Wont any damp under that simply move to edges and go up walls?

Hi there. Thanks for watching and for your question. In essence, this shouldn't happen, but even if it does, we've done a damp course on all the walls, so the damp won't go up the walls.

Very interesting! How effective is this from an insulation perspective compared to a concrete floor with DPM and insulation?
@HYPEBuilding Жыл бұрын
Hi there. The asphalt floor is nowhere near as effective - it is only used to prevent damp from coming through and is nothing to do with insulation. Thanks for watching and for your question 👍

They use this technique in los angeles for bathroom area's. The only difference is the hot mopping is also applied to the floor and then the membrane is place on top and coated again. Recently people have started moving away from this technique as other types of systems are now available.

Thank you. Is it on dirt foundation or cement underneath asphalt? Is asphalt the same as bitumen? I am restoring ground floor house over 100 years. Dirt foundation. Maybe pipes? All recommendations very welcome. There's a river across street and a lot of rising damp.
