I've used the elastomeric liquid pourable sealers, the first extended winter freeze and they lose all elasticity and become solid as a rock. After this, the driveway shifts with expansion and contraction and cracks again. This is a decent product to use when seal coating the same year you might sell a house, or just want a temporary repair the year you do a seal coat, otherwise it's not worth it to redo this annually. I imagine a hot rubber melt product would be better.

A good how to vid and excellent prep work. I have used a putty knife to smooth out the crack filler with good results 👍🏽

I used a like product a month ago. It has setup just like the product you used. It sure beats having a whole driveway seal. I'm more concerned with freezing water come winter which will further cause heaving. Thanks for you video.

That was nice how you poured it right over the obvious roots you had not burned and that were still green and you hadn't bothered to clean out

There may have been a couple of pieces of grass that were still green but 4 months later the cracks are still filled and look great. Cheap solution that was easy to do yourself. Would be worth investing in a larger blow torch with a 20lb propane to be sure

Very nice indeed! I did the same thing to mine last year, using the same product from Menards. I kind of wonder if the product itself doesn't kill the roots or its just thick enough the root can't get through it and it just dies off.

Just thick enough .

Yeah this is such a horrible job its crazy people will now take his advice. Did not smooth it out either afterwards.... this is what you get form incompetent workers.

Did you pour gas along the crack prior to setting it on fire?
@TheHappyHootie3 ай бұрын
no, just used the torch

Burn the weeds, wash the crack, line the crack with coarse sand, fill with large caulk gun size black rtv gasket maker , smooth and walk away. ❤

How is the product holding up that you used now?
@TheHappyHootie8 ай бұрын
Still working well. A few edges have separated, but it’s still flexible. Might shoot a little more in the crack this summer. All in all it’s still holding up well. For the cost I would do again.

Interesting. I will have to look into it. This is still holding strong. 💪 tape may work. I may try it for the smaller ones

Last one season. Cracks are all back the next year.

I used a similar product from Lowes. Absolute garbage, plan to redo it annually. If you're going to do the work, use hot rubber or nothing at all. Good luck, hope yours lasts longer than the garbage I got from Lowes. It was called Black Jack Speed Fill. JUNK, as was their atrocious customer service when I called them to ask about options/solutions.

Thanks for the heads up. This product hardened but still has some elasticity to it. I sprinkled black sand on top after first day and then drove on it. So far… so good. We shall see how it handles the winter.

Well no response means it fell apart. Don’t worry so did mine when I did it.
