Not that much, Saguenay-Lac Saint-Jean is a huge valley with a microclimate and fertile farming lands. Winter starts 1-2 weeks before Montréal and ends 1-2 weeks after Montréal.

Wow… phenomenal job on this one! Looks pretty similar to my video, except you had much better fall foliage. The weather also reminded me of when I drove it. It was pretty foggy that morning for parts of my drive, which I think added to the effect of driving through the mountains, which I can tell was pretty similar here. Amazing work on the video!

I was concerned when I woke up that morning that my trip to Saguenay was going to be rained out, but I ended up with pretty good conditions for the drive. I think the mist fits the mood of this drive. Thanks for the comment.

I've been waiting for this video since a long time ago. Definitely a great way to end my time in High School! Freeway Andrew made the same video back in December of 2023 & he also went to La Baie via A-70 & Route 170. I also loved the fall foliage at Stoneham & amazing music choice! I'm pretty familiar with Route 175's history. When it was an undivided 2-lane route, it was among Quebec's most dangerous highway & was oftenly touted as ''Route De La Mort (Highway Of Death)''. Collisions with Moose were also very common, mostly during nighttime. Since that route is also very used by Truckers, it also oftenly caused serious slowdowns to other drivers. Since it becames the 4-lane divided highway we know today, collisions were considerably reduced & travel time between Quebec City & Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean also reduced. Not only that a fence was installed at some road sections to limit accidents with them. Sure crashs continues to happen to this day, but they are now much less common than before & several signs warns about the risk of Mooses. Today, the route is a real joy to drive on when the weather is good.

I'd never driven the old two-lane route of Route 175, but I've heard that the new four-lane highway is a considerable improvement to what existed before. Thanks for the comment.

Quebec city reminds me of new orleans a little bit and the route to saguenay is like west virginia, very mountainous and rural vibe

Following the signs from Quebec west on A-40 it's A-40E, A-73N concurrent with A-40E onto A-40E (Autoroute de la Capitale) Concurrent with A-73N then A-73N. This route was always the way through Quebec City N to Saguenay. The GPS route you're on only shaves 1 km from the route and involves the old Autoroute du-Vallon which became Autoroute Robert-Bourassa. The original plan was for A-40 to deviate at St-Augustine to Ancien-Lorrete to the existing interchange A-40, A-73 A-573 bypassing the Local traffic and concurrency with the A-73 N-S

Great drive! Do you have NEXUS card, which lets you avoid wait long line at the land border or at the airport operated by joint Canada Border Services Agency and U.S. Customs and Border Protection when crossing between US and Canada?
