I agree 100% even though the model number is the same, laptops which are sold in other countries have different configuration and its pretty difficult finding the right one in India not to mention sales boys know absolutely NOTHING they will always mislead you and sell you a laptop with a low end graphics card with 4gb of video ram that they call "High Graphics" Well, I wish I could do that too but these companies in India don't want to sponsor us You-tubers, before I bought the laptop I wrote Email to Acer USA marketing team they replied and asked me to contact Acer India's marketing team but the Indian marketing team never wrote back lol very typical. Same thing with Sony, Kingston, LeEco and Microsoft their American/UK counterparts always reply but Indian marketing team never write back. Glad my video was helpful though.

Thanks very much for this. Helped me get the case open so I could fit a new SSD. Talking of which, I used Macrium free as the cloning software, with the SSD in a caddy connected to a USB port and the original HDD still in the laptop. The software worked a treat and simply switched the SSD and HDD over after cloning and it worked fine and of course, much faster.

Hi Charlie, first a word of thanks for your amazing videos. After going through your videos on this Acer Aspire V3 model, i bought myself one a week ago. It is perfect for my daily use, however the only flaw seems the Mechanical drive drive ( 1 TB ). Could you please make a video on replacing the optical drive with a SSD upgrade as i intend to keep using the 1 TB version. Again..thanks in advance. keep up the good work.

Thanks bro, and yes you are right! The 1TB hard drive is painfully slow... it used to take around 5-6 minutes for the laptop to boot up so I replaced it with a WD Blue which is acceptable at 2 minutes boot time (still a little slow tho) Hmm do it the other way round remove the 1TB HDD from inside the laptop and buy a "Optical Bay 2nd Hard Drive Caddy" install the hard drive in it and put that in place of the DVD drive and use the SSD inside your laptop! Why? because if you use the SSD in place of DVD drive you wont get to use its full speed. so I always put Operating System on the SSD instead of HDD and when the HDD is in place of your dvd drive you can use it as a 1TB storage drive. With a SSD these Aspire laptops start under 10 seconds which is pretty awesome. I few months ago I started recording that sort of video but the caddy I bought from Amazon was dead on arrival so I just abandoned that project, returned the caddy and continued to use the DVD drive.. maybe ill do it sometime in the future.

hey bro i'm using the same laptop and hdd is extremely slow..Infact i seldom do shutdown n keep it in hibernate mode mostly.. i want to add SSD..i' m thinking the other way around by replacing my optical drive to SSD(using caddy) and HDD will remain at HDD slot only and shifting os from HDD to SSD.. There won't be any warranty void problem and tedious process of opening laptop .. Will you recomend this way or should i follow your way?

Is it possible to make new heat sink compound on the processor? 'cause my notebook keeps overheating while playing games and the temperature of the processor is up to 60° C while using it for simple web browsing or just staying on the desktop and doing nothing. :/

Mine hovers around the 60-70degree mark while web browsing and watching youtube! It never overheats though, I have not seen my Acer thermal throttle while playing games or doing video rendering. But yes, it is possible to change the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU, you will need to take out the copper heat pipe and remove the old heatsink compound and reapply the new paste.

Thanks man. Do you know if these models support SSDs? I plan to replace my factory hdd (a 1 tb hdd) with an SSD if that's possible. My factory drive type is just the same as yours. Not sure what it is called, probably a 2.5 inch HDD. I thought it can be replaced with a 2.5 inch SSD

Of course, they do, in fact, I have an SSD installed on this model right now, and it's lightning-fast, just like any new laptop you'd buy in 2021, you will need to get a 2.5 inch SSD. I would recommend Samsung 870 EVO, they are robust and very reliable.

I'm not sure really, I scraped off those warranty stickers the day I bought my laptop since I swapped out the hard drive and added more RAM. To be honest I don't care much about warranty, getting RMA and warranty service is hard enough in India, any problem I can fix all this stuff myself :D Just to be on the safer side you can always take it to Acer service center guys.

Are you sure that breaking the warranty seal wont void the warranty? I just called acer and lied that I broke the warranty seal to do a RAM upgrade. They said that if I did it myself the warranty is not valid anymore. But if I go to the authorised service centre for that, they are going to charge a lot of money. Well you can replace the battery... upgrade I dont think so.. anyway just clean the heatsink and youll be good again! up to 100 degrees on CPU and GPU is OKAY! :) it wont affect the performance.

Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help. I've install a second ssd in this laptop using a drive chassis that replaces the optical drive. For some reason the bios doesn't even recognise the SSD but when in Ubuntu it's visible. I want to install the OS on the SSD but can't atm

You cant do this because your boot drive HAS to be installed in the internal SATA port.. clone the internal HDD on to the SSD then swap them so that the mechanical drive is in your optical drive bay. I tried the same thing but it didn't work because while starting up windows setup did not detect the SSD in the optical drive bay. Hope this helps.

It should turn on even when the battery is dead or when the lifespan of the battery gets over. I guess it might be something else, do you have a multimeter? if yes check the voltage on the connector which plugs in into your laptop, it's possible that the power brick is not outputting any voltage that might be due to a broken cable (99% this is the problem when a laptop wont turn on or charge) if so just buy a new charger. BUT If there is constant voltage then it might be the laptop itself, you will need to take it in for service.
