100% still interested, specially the small things, the coffee, the locating an overnight roadside spot, the bad hair, all of it

Generally I hate watching long (30 min +) videos - this one I really enjoyed. Enjoyed the retro bits once again as I have seen them a couple of times before. Cheers and go well.

Andrew, it never gets boring watching the videos of your trips particularly the ones in Australia...............Even doing the mundane things like making a coffee (Coffee bags are quite good) or having your breakfast.

These videos are so awesome. I’m sitting freezing my a$$ off in this Canadian winter living vicariously through you in Australia. As a sidenote just thinking out loud - in my mind, having overland adventures in the 4Xoverland channel, and having builds and set ups and tinkering etc. etc. in the Overland workshop channel, seems to be more intuitive. Overland channel for Overland videos and workshop channel for working on the vehicles . Either way, love them both and love the great content. No matter how many times you say something or do something!

For the coffee, get a French press and a manual coffee grinder! You can get insulated stainless steel ones now that are perfect for rougher use. Easy to clean, and as long as you can boil water, you can make coffee.

I'm busy upgrading my coffee maker now. Will test it on a trip next week.

Hi Andrew great video mate really enjoyed it. I’m a bit of a coffee connoisseur and I have been using the. Outin Nano Portable Espresso Maker I got from alternative brewing and it’s brilliant. Rechargeable and uses around 80 mils of water to make great coffee. I also have a milk foaming Machine, because I love cappuccino. Cheers mate.
@Eddie_-_10 күн бұрын
I used a similar one but manual. The issue I have is that the water and the espresso is getting cold in the process. What grinder are you using?

1:23:32 At night I’ve had young rabbits in the light of my car. The young ones can do 70 kph, older ones 50. A deer does 45, and a moose 30-35. - I have no idea how fast a camel is. 😂
@matthewwakeham220615 күн бұрын
I think you are unfair on the camel, it probably realises that the track is smooth and clear and that it is it's best chance of outrunning you (not knowing you are powered by diesel). I think it seems quite dim because it is perfectly adapted for being a camel. In which sense it is very highly evolved. Human beings are still evolving but do appear to be catching up with the camel in their outlook and critical thinking.

I really enjoy following your trips as I do these trips myself when in Australia which unfortunately is not often enough. Have a Troopy in Aus not quite as well set up as yours but well on the way, it does us. I was just saying to my wife 2 days ago that you hadn’t put out any travel videos in Aus for a while, she said you had been to Mongolia etc. yes you have and I enjoyed them but it’s not quite the same. Your videos are never boring.

Burning wood parallel burns better as they help each other. Two logs on a fire burns better than one piece. One of the reasons for the lack of bird and animal life in the desert is the lack of water. If there was a waterhole nearby there will be birds around. The couple you saw in the book travelling east was Len Beadell's grandson.

This is the content I love, I have similar issues on the first night, but not quite like yours, I just don't sleep well on the first night, regardless but after that I'm all good, I do have a destination scenario like you, I need to reach before I feel I am away from regular life and on my journey, no set distance, but I usually have a place a stop or town that is that spot! Awesome share even if the trip was awhile ago this is what we miss and need more of, thank you!! Im getting ready for some trips over Xmas, it will be short stints, for this period but I no longer enjoy travelling at this time of year with so many idiots out there that cant drive and are always in a hurry to go nowhere and risk everyone I'm at the stage where if they hurt themselves I dont care so much, its innocent people that pisses me off that they endanger because of there sense of entitlement or lack of awareness in a foreign country and that is even worse! Anyways back to the vid. cheers and beers🤘🍺 PS Merry Xams and safe and New year to you and Gywn!

The best wood-fired stove I know is the Sierra Zip Stove, made by ZZ Manufacturing in the U.S. Hardly anyone knows of them, as the maker apparently does not advertise. I have used them for over 30 years. The compact Sierra Zip Stove has an adjustable-speed, AA battery-operated fan with forced ventilation that produces intense heat, somewhat like a blacksmith's forge. They can be bought for abt $60 USD from the manufacturer. Many accessories are available, but I use few of them. The stove burns just about anything: twigs, pine cones, charcoal, leftover fireplace coals, etc.

Great video as always. I've only done a few solo trips and nothing as remote but it's certainly a different experience. I have 2 questions about this trip though. The first is why are you in your V8 troopy rather than your 2.8? The 2nd is would you be happy to do this trip in your HiAce?

Re your Travel Buddy... After watching a KZbin video from "Lock Your Hubs In", I added a 12v > 15v step-up converter. It significantly reduces the amount of time it takes to heat up. In addition, I've also added a remote switch device (it comes with 2 fobs). This enables me to, for example, chuck a couple of frozen pies in before setting off in the morning....then at say 11am, I can activate the Travel Buddy from the driver's seat, so the pies will be hot by midday. I've also added an amber LED to the side of the Chevys canopy, which I can see in the mirror. It indicates that the Travel Buddy is getting power. I'm retired and have too much time on my hands (obviously!!).

Have you considered putting together an itinerary or route map of places you have been and recommend for people not as well traveled as you? Perhaps including necessary gear or vehicular considerations and things people should know like what currencies to have or items to avoid in those areas?

The cars are burnt out may be because one can claim on insurance if it is fire related but can't if it is mechanical. People might have deliberately put a light to it, which I guess is safer than purposefully crashing into something.

SOLO TRAVELING IS GREAT However cautionary tale don't fall into the same trap as malcolm douglas did miles from no frpm nowhere trapped between land cruiser and tree and died no matter how skilled you are in tranversining the outback you are accidents happen and they can be fatal.. complacency gets you killed i would also advise to have tv access so you can monitor weather and fire bans
