They are not asking for a seperate state BUT just asking for Theo’s usual Rights for survival and possible progress which is not only useful to them and all Assamese but also of benefit to the Motherland bharat. Indian Gorkhas are people with Indian Citizenship as per 23rd August 1988 Extraordinary Gazette notification issued by Home Ministry of India. Stop calling them Nepalese Citizens. Gorkha People in Assam have migrated from mostly from Gorkha Hills, Darjeeling & Dooars.

Gorkhas aren't indigenous to Assam. They were brought here by british just like tea labourers santhalis from jharkhand and chattisgarh. But this is also a fact that they were never troublemakers and instead share similar religion and traditional value(although culturally and tradition wise they have more common with north indians). As an Assamese i like them anyways for the sole reason that they respect our way of life and peacefully exist alongside us. We are now the same. So no worries. They should have all legal rights necessary as any indian citizen should if they are missing out on some .

You have to understand the difference वeteeen the term Gorkha a multiethnic people who are connected by one commonly communicating language called Gorkha language orGorkha which had historical cultural and linguistic baseand recognition.there are many ethnicities within Gorkha Kasa language Gurung Msgar and other contributing .it has nothing to do with citizenship naमें of any country. Nepali wasNewari the same Nepali tag was attached toNepaku name and this name ठेसें paki नेम carries citizenship name of Nepali citizens likePakistani term carrying Pakistani citizenship .Nepalis inducted but they are called Girkhali .

Gorkhas if we ask from any historian and according to UNDRIP cannot and donot qualifies as Indigenous, Read Martinez Cobu definition and qualifications to be included under indigenous. Gorkhas are not an extinct community and hold many seats in Lok Rajya Sabha, in Sikkim they have the highest population along with that they have a seperate country who are protecting their language culture religion, from all side they are getting the highest recognition which makes them unqualified from the definition of endangered community.

Gorkha are not aboriginal to north east India, they have council in Darjeeling and Kalimpong area they’re aboriginal from there. Why will they get autonomous council in Assam biggest joke of the year. In that Nepal should have a Bodo autonomous council as well as lots of Bodo there.

Both koch r bodo r migrated to dhimal kachari land of Nepal. Only aborigin kachari tribe of Nepal. Also called limboo of plains. But is not treated differently from dhimal. N gorkha donot require autonomous council in Assam. They shd argue for st to certain sub tribes who r st in nature. Like magar , gurung, limboo , rai , sonowar, yakkha , tamang , sherpa etc. if tai buddhist groups, singpho migrated during 1800 can get , refugee chakma can get st , gorkha groups living from 100 to 200 yrs also deserve.

Cachar levy was raised by Britishers not Nepal king. It included not Gorkha alone but Assamese, Kachari, Manipuri, Kuki, Naga, and other tribes as well. History of Assam and NE is even older than Cachar levy or Gorkha rifles. Currently Assam Rifle consist of all the community from every corner of India. And moreover Gorkhas are serving in Indian army not out of patriotism for this country but for salary since Nepal is an economically poor country.
