Australian here: This has generally been well received here. But I'd like to point out something and of all the reports this is one of the few I have seen at least raise it. Julian wasn't treated well but he is still alive. He still has family and friends and supporters. Namir Noor-Eldeen, an Iraqi war photographer for Reuter, his assistant, Saeed Chmagh, as well as eight others who were killed (and arguably murdered) by American soldiers during the July 12, 2007, Baghdad airstrike have largely been forgotten. As far as I know NOBODY has been held responsible for that. There were not simply shot either. They were gunned down by an AH-64 Apache helicopter using an M230 30mm auto-cannon. These guns do not fire normal bullets. They are not only large but also explode. Hence why they are called cannons. After World War 2 the human race collectively said "Not Again!" and institutions like the ICC were set-up ICJ. Right now several notable nations who helped set those institutions up are *NO LONGER* signatories to those institutions and one of those is the United States of America. They have demanded justice be served on Julian Assange but have *REFUSED* to deal with holding those responsible for these incidents or others like the Abu Ghraib and Bagram AFB prisoner abuse scandals or the October 3, 2015 bombing of the Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan. And I do not mean the few lower grade soldiers some of who were charged, found guilty and served time but the commanders and politicians who let it happen.

When these criminals are held liable and made to suffer consequences, thats when we will begin to see and end to these criminal atrocities.

Pre trial remand in the UK was 23hr lockdown with one visit to the phones per week. Thankfully I had the lpool dockers sending me parcels in hmp walton. Can totally understand how mr assange has felt, the boredom makes you think of doing things you really shouldn't. There were many on suicide watch on k wing.

It's time for us to push government to answer for truth. The laws we all face every day that secure us for whistle blowing have been damaged and any new government must take the nation and the worlds integrity seriously. People must feel safe to stand up for truth amd justice.

I remember the video Wikileaks released of US helicopter murdering journalists in the streets. The video "embarrassed" the USA apparently. I think the guys shot down for carrying cameras would have been saddened that news of their murder caused the USA any trouble...

Governments being able to push legal actions is a terrible over reach. Same thing happening to TR right now in multiple countries. How to we successfully separate state and judges/police?

It is a sick world when Julian Assange revealed some war crimes, and yet here we are with the IDF soldiers publishing their own war crimes on tik-tok. Julian did break the law, but I think his persecution should be a matter of shame. I hope Julian can recover to enjoy the rest of his life. I suspect it will take a while for him to reach some sort of normality.
