People forget that these games weren't designed for next-gen consoles, this is pretty much what's expected of current-gen games on next-gen consoles. Look at Resident Evil 4 remake, it's pretty much just the same game it was on the PS2 but with slightly better textures.

Obviously the story only matter, after sometime you eye adapts to those graphics. When I play this game on Xbox 360, its looks me the best graphics ever made! But sometimes the shadow quality irritates me, it not at all good on Xbox 360.. Also the sunlight effects are very beautiful on PS4 and Xbox One :)

I'm actually rather impressed by how much they managed to flesh out of the 360 there. The start, and end of this last generation, when compared, make me sometimes feel it was split into two - they got so much out of it and so much changed (but you can sorta see that during the SNES era though when rough 3D gaming finally game in at the very end) Here's to the next one! (off to what appears to be a rocky start though ;-) )

I just finished playing AC4 to 100% completion on the Xbox 360 and absolutely loved it. I do see a noticeable difference in this video. The lighting/shadows/reflections are definitely better on the PS4, as is the texture resolution. It would be interesting to see an updated comparison post-patching. The other interesting take away is that the Xbox 360 has been out for nearly 9 years and as a result can truly be pushed to its limits. It will be really interesting to see how the PS4 compares once it has been around just as long and devs have figured out how to utilize its capabilities to maximum proficiency as well.

Don't expect better looking games to come out until at least 2 years after a console's release. The devs for AC4 probably got the final devkits only months before release. Devs need to time to familiarize themselves with the new hardware before being able to push it to its limits. That's never going to happen right at/after release.

yiffy addict vincentpol does have a point- while developers are creating games for both 'current' and 'next gen' consoles, they will not fully optimise the games or make the most of the PS4 / XB1's power. Remember how bad the first PS3 and Xbox360 games looked compared to those released several years later? Compare Oblivion and GTA 4 to Skyrim and GTA5. I'd say that the difference between those is large, and with this generation it will be even greater, since there aren't any big-name exclusives on show yet. I'd blame this on developers hedging their bets about the new generation. There are still a lot of potential buyers on current generation machines. If you want graphics to improve faster, get everybody to buy a next gen machine. That being said, I don't own a console.

StraightTalkingNews It's just something that's as old as consoles. The best comparison is with SNES games. First generation games look like 16-bit version NES games and the last generation SNES games looked like we were close to perfecting 2D graphics. You won't see such a huge difference in those days than you'd these days, but you'll always people discover new optimizations long after a console has been released. For example, even today hobbyists are making gameboy games that are much better in a lot of ways, even though it's still the same early 90s hardware.

Let me just say that I don't care about either consoles as I am a PC gamer. Fact is that unless you got a 21" or bigger monitor for your console you won't notice much of a difference. The difference will be at the bigger screens where 720p actually doesn't look that great, that's where the PS4 will shine. Samuel Tyler well to be honest, if you built a pc with equal specs to consoles you would pay quite a lot more. The reason these consoles will do well is because some people just prefer to play on consoles, they have the ability (on some games) to have 2 players playing from the 1 consoles (great for parties etc) and you don't need to know how to do anything related to HW when buying a console, where as if you want to buy a PC even with these (relatively low, at least on the gpu side) specs, you need to know exactly what you're doing or get help, otherwise you end up overpaying for something like an Alienware PC, or ofcourse getting something advertised as a gaming pc but has a gt520 in it..

Matthew Walker In my opinion the PS4 will demolish the xbox in the long run simply because of hardware capabilities. Its a gaming console, almost no one cares about how it plays a movie (which even a phone can do nowdays) Also, I highly doubt the xbox will play stuff like Metro and BF4 at 1080p simply because it doesn't have the raw power to do so even on a PC with a 7790 (xbox one) in fact even the 7870, which is in the PS4 would probably struggle to provide true 1080p steadily at 60fps. I know they probably advertise it like that now but that is just upscaled 900p, which is still not 1080p.

In addition to being a port, the most important thing people forget is that it is a compressed video. Video compression (in this case H.264 on youtube) is a lossy compression that heavily compromises visuals to make it internet-transferable. Remember, tons of raw image data is being cramped down by compression into the confines of a few megabytes for this to be carry-able across the internet. So, there is consequence, a good amount of the visuals of the PS4 is blurred to the same quality of H.264 (making things look equal to that of 360). When I play games on my PC, I definitely feel that the lowest graphical settings are a WORLD different from their highest settings. But, when I see a video of that on youtube demonstrating "lowest vs highest", in all honesty, it looks quite the same! LOL!

Its very well done, but remember videos blur the details so it makes the PS4 look less sharp, clear and vibrant than it really is while also making the Xbox 360 version look less jaggy. Plus this is pre-release code, before they increased the PS4 version to full 1080p. The real thing looks much MUCH better than this video.

Buy a PS4 version of the game, hook it up to a HD TV/MONITOR and run it on 1080P. Buy a 360 version of the game, hook it up to another exact same model of HD TV/MONITOR and run it. Dan Camp Except a PC twice or even four times as powerful as PS4 STILL doesn't look the same difference as PS2 to PS3, because its not about simply throwing more polygons at the screen anymore. Its more about the little things now, better AI, lighting, physics, things that make the world feel more real but are not always obvious until you take them away. Plus there is sound, which already I have found MUCH more clear and realistic on PS4 than on PS3. You are also missing that the consoles are operating in approximately the same power envelope as PS3/Xbox 360 did at launch. You don't want a games console drawing 500W of power and sounding like an industrial vacuum cleaner. While yes PC can be much more powerful, people forget to factor in the electricity cost. Then there is the fact I was running Bioshock Infinite on my PC recently and for no obvious reason it started to lag. By comparison playing Assassins Creed 4 on PS4 I have yet to experience a single stutter. Most of all though, nobody wants to pay $750 for a games console so naturally they have to balance the cost. My PC is only moderately more powerful than the PS4 (on paper) but cost probably slightly more. I also have to stick it in another room to avoid the noise.

AC4 is an amazing game and a game really shouldnt be rated by looks, but honestly there is barley any differences here between the Next Gen PS4 copy vs.the Current Gen Xbox360. Now I know this game was originally made for the current gen consoles, so its been scaled down just a bit. But there still is little differences here. For something that's almost a decade old it keeps up to something that just came out. I know TV, capture cards, etc. Play a role on how its projecting but other than a few VERY minor details. I see little differences. But on the bright side the PS4 controller feels amazing.

Keep in mind most of the games on the PS4 currently weren't developed exclusively for the PS4. When games like Infamous come out you'll actually be able to see what the system is capable of, for now it'll just be slightly improved textures, shadows, and particle effects.

If you're talking about PS4's version, that also is because PS4 was stuck at 900p and in a not-so-recent update they made it ACTUALLY run at native 1080p and added new anti-aliasing techniques to it. So, yes, Ubi made PS4's version definitively better amongst other consoles whereas PC in contrast, the only difference is better lighting really, and I think a bit better physics (Unsure of the latter)

The game is beautiful regardless of which system it's running on. But you can't argue that next gen looks better. The way the rain hits the ship and cascades off of it when it leans. The leaves that move when the wind is blowing and while you walk through them. It's amazing and I can't wait to see games that push PS4 and XBox One to the limits.

The video was released in the 29 okt 2013. The PS 4 embargo was fully lifted around the 11 november 2013 and they wrote in the description that it was a comparison between next gen and current gen. Since most games that ship to both Xbox 360 and PS 3 basically don't differ much I find the comparison okay.

Middle point, PS4 has good shadow rendering, and Face recon, like how Edward's face has more color then Xbox360, but so far, the PS4 needs to work on the hightened color, and it'll be perfect.

Looks like the real differences are from the weather and foliage systems, plants move when you walk through them on ps4 and also there's sunlight reflection on the ocean floor for ps4.

To all people saying this is the Xbox One version, I've seen both the 360 and One versions on my consoles. The colors in the Xbox One version are so much more vibrant than shown in this video. Not to mention the clothing in the video, the fabric in the 360 side of this video isn't nearly as visible and defined as the actual Xbox One's version. Hey everyone, I'm here from the xbox 360 ultimate games sale and was wondering if its worth it to even buy the 360 version.... I'm planning on getting a PS4 in a couple months, but right now AC IV costs twice as much on PS4 than on 360 with the sale. How big is the difference really in real life? It's still too early to really compare these systems. You have to remember that many companies are still making games for the previous generation of consoles. They can only do so much because it still needs to run on the older hardware. When they start making games exclusively for the new generation you will be amazed.

If you can't see the difference you're either blind or don't have the video in full 1080p. Even in the video it's extremely obvious the Xone has aliasing all over the damn screen with over blown contrast in an attempt to cover up the stair casing going on all over the place. Draw distance, AA, Natural pigment tones, lighting, damn near everything is a marked improvement over the Xbone. take off the blinders and just look at the screen.

Jimy Cintron the rechargeable kit cost just about $30 with tax. New ps4 controller cost $50-$60 depending where u buying it from. I been playing with the same ps4 controller since release date, it still working good. I use the thumb grip tho, so the rubber on the analog stick doesn't break. But i think ps4 controller is a better deal instead of buying the charge kit for the xbox one controller. I have both consoles and both controller still work.

And this particular "kid" is just pointing out the obvious. I have a next gen console but I myself can say it's not that much of a stretch from last generation consoles. Specs speak nothing when you are being ho'd out of your money. Playstation kept hollering about a more powerful system, 1080p blah blah blah blah... I want to experience the specs not just be told them. Both consoles graphics are very similar, both average 1080p. But Xbox360 graphics should be a fucking far as hell stretch from ps4/xbox one but it ain't. That's the problem.

Ian Hamilton No shit. The first releases for Xbox360 look like shit for today's standard. I helped a friend of mine get some easy achievements for his Xbox 360. If King Kong was released now, it would look like shit. At the time the graphics were WAY better than most PCs could offer without grabbing a wad of cash on an expensive video card (it's long ago, but I remember King Kong looked somewhat better when I went from an NVidia 6600GT to a SLI 6800GT setup with 2 GB ram. The differences between the 360 version of AC IV are details like grass, and a superbig whale splashing by..... Oh, and more anti aliasing over the 360 version.

You know the last three or four years I kept reading comments from console owners saying there was no difference between the consoles and PC ports of games and I found that to be at odds with what I was seeing when gaming on my PC. Well I would just like to say that I see very little difference between these ports. Yes the PS4 version runs at double the resolution and has better textures , shadows and shaders but for the last three or so years I have been playing games on PC that show bigger more dramatic differences compared to the console versions. I mean the PS4 version still only runs at 30fps and all the controller lag that brings. I wonder if games like this and COD Ghosts ,BF4 and any other multiplatform games will get the same treatment from console gamers claiming that there is no difference like the stuff they have been typing about PC games the last 3-4 years even when there was massive differences??
