I personally loved the Syndicate London map. I felt that it was widely varied and I largely prefer stealth games in an industrial or city setting than just bare sand or country.

The detail is what made Paris stand out. Every building seemed unique. Unity would be seen as the pinnacle of AC gameplay if it was released as a finished game. Instead, Ubisoft rushed it.

Florence and Venice. Two of the smallest maps are still the best ones. The colors, the music, the ambience, etc. I also liked Rome and Constantinople.

Revelations and Constantinople are underrated in my opinion. Lots of variety of the city, it felt lively looked great. Game was just too short, though the interwoven plot with Altair was dope. Also Ezio final big quest and his end as an active assassin.

I think it’s amazing how they managed to make a 300m2 area of Florence feel so big. Not only with a maze of buildings, but also with landmarks and places that are important to the plot. So when you run across one, you think “Huh, here a try to kill Medici was made”. Fascinating.

Weren't Vikings just pirates? I don't see that working with how AC games usually work. There would be no historical accuracy to where they resided because they weren't architects or builders of society. There would be no tall structures to climb or any means of escaping trouble. If it does happen, it'll have to be more like Black Flag but almost story and option based like Odyssey which then wouldn't really make it an AC game.

The dev has said they don't want to do an AC game set in Japan because the theme is overly used. But they might do an Ancient China one given some of the promotional arts that were leaked, and the Chinese DLC for For Honor. BTW there will be at least 3 action RPGs set in Japan coming out next year, Ghost of Tsushima, Nioh 2, and one from Fromsoft whose name I forgot.

The amount of historical settings yet unexplored by the assassin's creed franchise is still so vast, which means this series will never end (Awesome because I love AC) Just some few ideas: The Reconquista, Spanish Invasion of Aztecs, Viking invasions, feudal japan, Ancient Rome, Mongol invasion, Napoleonic Wars, the last Crusade, Rush for Africa in the 1890's, India and China. Etc. Personally, I'd love to see an AC set during the Reconquista or in the Rush for Africa

Felix Sopowera my guess is that this is based on real life calculations The devs claimed the carribean isnt to scale with real life, but they did starting from unity and later. Greece is definitely the biggest since it included at least 90% of the entire country. If you’re ln the top left corner of the map and put a marker at the arena (in the bottom right of the map), it will say it’s around 20+ km to get there. While in black flag, you can can only get numbers from 1km to 2km. I played both games so i’d know. More space for naval combat i guess.

Assassin's creed odyssey map is 256 km, 130 km is the land area, so if you don't add the eater areas to AC odyssey so don't add it to black flag. I have AC odyssey and it's can take over 2 hours to walk over only the unknown area.

Except the water area in Black Flag was non-explorable. You could not dive into the water, aside from the shipwreck locations (which required loading a different map to access). In Odyssey, even though naturally you cannot reach the bottom, otherwise you will drown, the underwater area has been made explorable, so it is very much part of the map.

You should do a comparison between the biggest open world map and all of the linear maps of a game like Bloodborne just to see the size difference. It would be interesting to see that we can have fun in a small space and also a huge map and it doesn't really matter if the game is well made.

Bloodborne is one my favourite games Ever, I loved Yarnam. But it has no ingame metrics to have an accurate number. My guess would be around 6-9km^2 but with a lot of verticality.

Imo Paris is the biggest of the ac iv played. Just one big sprawling city. Stuff happening everywhere. Alot of ac games are full of empty spaces like black flag and origins. Btw. considering the in-game markers for distance are correct the AC: Odyssey-map size is not only 130km², but 16.4km*16.4km = 268.96km², which places Odyssey over Black Flag.

I know a lot of people hate Black Flag wining because of how many islands are simply there for visual/environmental obstacles, but keep in mind on two things! 1. We aren't rating maps based on interaction, but simply scale. Otherwise, maps like AC3 would've been incorrectly rated. 2. Even with the lands you can't board due to not having shores or docks, there's still a vast ocean filled with many little pieces of land, varying in sizes and even environments. Even in the vast and beautifully simulation waters, there's plenty of encounterments that'll keep you busy as you sail towards your next point of interest! I'm not saying AC Odyssey doesn't have a more impressive map. It does. But I'm just trying to remind you that these maps are simply being rated on ONE thing, and that even without that one factor to judge them on, Black Flag still has an impressive and immersive ocean open world that's brimming with activity.

Definitely, Origins was one of my best AC games before AC Odyssey released. The map is a lot bigger tha Origins and a lot more detailed plus the story is very good. Hope it helps ;-)

Probably because they lock portions off by memory sequences so you cant fully explore it before it's time to move on to other locations. You focus on 1 district at a time so you don't realise how small it is.

The best maps are Origins, Odyssey, Unity and Syndicate. I love AC Blackflag, but half of the map are just water and the islands that you can explore are just linear corridors and aren't all the islands you can explore.

Most people in the world is dumb af when it comes to math,thanks to Ubisoft they actually using measurement system in all of their games. I still seeing people say map of Unity and Syndicate are big,London in real life is over 1500km² and Paris with at least a few hundred km². Some people say Origins has entire Egypt in it,but entire map is only 11-12km long(in real life 1000km)and you can see most of the map from top of pyramids and mountains.And obviously it takes around 2,5 hours to walk across the *all* map. For a comparison Manhattan in NYC is about 13 miles long which is 20km(even a few km longer than maps of Odyssey and Black Flag) and takes about 4 hours to walk across the island in real life, although it's width is only slightly over 2 miles.Paris in AC Unity is only 1.6km wide and London in Syndicate is 2km wide so they're even thinner than Manhattan by a big gap. Well,in conclusion that sizes are actually pretty normal as long as it would feel big due to city density and short draw distance. Obviously a video game developer can't make maps big as it's real life counterpart.That would be madness,at least after about 10-20 years we'll able to do so.
