This game cannot be lazy like Valhalla. I’m hoping the devs realize how long ppl have been waiting for an assassin’s creed set in Japan and with incredible games like Ghost of Tsushima, Ubisoft needs to knock this out of the park. If they do this right it could be the best AC since black flag. Just so every knows, I actually enjoy Valhalla it just feels very bloated and mostly unnecessary. When I say it’s lazy I’m talking about its lack of focus and I hope AC Red is much tighter, more similar to Origins.

This one time I jumped down from a high building in Syndicate, the impact was too real that it got me startled for a moment there, it felt like it was me doing the jump and touching the ground. Assassins, faction representing freedom, revolution and chaos are supporting the bloody conquest to unite Japan under one dictator (because that was unification of Japan was about, one daimyo conquering others) and the main character is the most non-asian person they could possibly find (and before you bring out the banning hammer, it's not because he's black, I wouldn't want Origins to be about some random chinese guy who just happens to be in Egypt at the time either and I am million times more invested in China than I ever was in Egypt). I understand West is convinced unification, diversity and eternal shame for colonization and slavery is the final frontier of the society but the rest of the world isn't and feudal Japan was as far from those things as you could possibly get.

I can already kind of predict a plot to this game. Ok so there will be instead of one big leader of the Templars there would be 3. Obu Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu. Akechi Mitsuhide would kind of be like Maxwell Roth in the fact that he will help you greatly in taking down Obu Nobunaga but then take over Japan and then you would be helped by Toyotoma Hideyoshi to take back Japan but then it’s revealed that he is a member of the order. There would of course be other members of the Templars too but the game would end with you assassinating Akechi Mitsuhide and it would take place roughly from the 1570s to the 1590s. I don’t really think that it would just be Obu Nobunaga being the head of the Templars because then the game would be extremely short with the arrival of Yasuke in Japan in 1579 and the death of Obu Nobunaga in I think 1581 or 1582.

As much as i liked the last 3 games, I really hope ubisoft have used what they have learned from their criticism and it has all been for the sake of codename red. My point is that maybe, just maybe codename red was planned before those games and they have been used as testing the waters and to prepare for a game that the whole community's been wishing for ever since the beginning!

I think one thing that's often overlooked when comparing Ghost of Tsushima to AC Red is the Combat Variety. GoT has one fighting Style, a single Katana. AC Red will probably give you a choice between Katana, Double Katana, Odachi, Naginata, Axes, Kusarigamas etc. There will be so much Combat Variety. Will it be as satisfying as GoT? Probably not, but if it's better than Valhalla & on par with Odyssey, no Problem. Also having a Shinobi & a Samurai as Protagonists could make for some interesting moral Contrasts in Beliefs. GoT has a beautiful Open World, but due to the Scenario it's a little empty. All NPCs are at Hiding Spots or Camps & there are no big Cities to explore. And that is something I'm very much looking forward to.

What is interesting is Nobunaga is one of japans 3 great unifiers. I had a japanese history class where I learned alot about them so being able to see them in a game is awesome, and it really is the perfect setting for getting an AC game started. The same way odyssey has sparta and athens fight, this one would have 3 warring factions across japan fight. That would be my assumption. iirc after Japan was unified, which was by Nobunaga I think, he was soon overturned, another Samurai betrayed him to reinstate the emperor, then a few years later betrayed t he emperor for his own military control. I may be getting the details wrong but I remember the vibe and it will definitely be really intersting

@Mk_Otaid8 ай бұрын
I want an AC that can have dynamic and varied encounters anywhere on the map. Odyssey was a step in the right direction with the bounty system where you could always attract threats so long as you rained chaos on civilians. They somehow didn't think it should be included in Valhalla - a game with raiding in it, but I hope they do for this one. Imagine a system where instead of damage sponges sent for you, you get the occasional organized merc squad or team of trained assassins stalking you to take you out where you least expect it. There's no way to detect them like your typical enemy apart from the game warning you they are close, so you gotta rely on your own perception and constantly be on the lookout. Things like that in general. I want reasons to go back to settlements or any area and interact with them in more ways than just "Go to random point and kill 5 guys". Let me go full-on GTA if I want to or give me immersive stuff to do in these bloated maps. Would go a long way towards making them feel fun to be in. Just parkour, stealth and stuff to kill is not enough to add value to your maps Ubisoft. Please... take some risks for once.

As both an avid Japan and AC fan (since the first game), i have extremely high hopes for this game. I've been begging for a Japanese series entry since after brotherhood. To add to what ur saying in the video; the sengoku period seems a likely choice for the game to take place. After the Sengoku period ended in the unification of Japan, the Edo period was - relatively speaking - rather calm. Later still also seems unlikely. The Edo period ended with the Meji restoration; this is when the power was taken from the Shogun's/warlords/daimyo's and given back to the monarch.; That seems quite opposed to what the creed is all about (unless the plot of the game is that we fail in our mission or something lo). Also, if the characters you mentioned are really going to be in the game (Oda Nobunaga, Takechi Mitsuhide and etc.), it pretty much has to be in Sengoku Japan as this is the era when these daimyo's lived. TLDR; very likely game will take during Japanese war of unification. Lot of cool charachters and events at that time. Pls make good game ubi. Ps: awesome vid!! :)
