People who are saying this is just an expansion pack, do you remember Assassins Creed Brotherhood? It also didn't make any monumental gameplay changes but instead presented an even more polished and refined game from AC2 (like adding the crossbow, the wolves den missions, leonardos inventions missions etc) and it was amazing because it took something that was already good and just added little touches here and there that made it better. Rogue is like AC Brotherhood but for AC IV. When the gameplay and features of ACIV are as good as they are, why change it drastically for the sake of making it look different? The logical thing to do for the developers would be to ask the team what parts of the gameplay they had some ideas for that weren't implemented in ACIV and then add those elements to Rogue so it builds upon an already enjoyable core gameplay system. I loved AC Brotherhood as much as I liked AC2 because both offered new features from the game before. AC Rogue will also do the same thing. I will buy Rogue because after playing all 6 previous Assassins Creed games, I have yet to come across one that didn't amaze me with its story, environments and music. But when haters gonna hate, what more can I say?

Yes. Although technically, 4 was a refinement of the AC3 System, but Rogue refined it even more, and considering it was only supposed to be a Last Gen release alongside Unity and it's new engine, you can't complain about the similarities too much.

***** I am almost 100% sure it will.In unity we have same thing going on with the story,which is some random guy meets assassins and decides to become one of them.Here we see how a man changes his mind and becomes templar(assassin hunter) We start as an assassin here and we can se this amazing transformation. This is good but as quite an experienced AC4 player I notice that the ram was available after defeating all 4 legendary ships, the burning fire has simply replaced the barrels so that's not entirely new and that automatic machinegun is basically the last upgrade of the swivel gun. The mortar was in AC4 and the biggest difference are the explosive guns although they stun enemy ships, just like the chain shots... also at the front of the ship in AC4... nothing here is really new excepting one feature which I'm excited for, the enemy ships boarding you, as well as the prisoner of war. P.S. if you havent played AC4 basically all I haven't mentioned is also not new. So yeah, it's just a large expansion for AC4.

Why people are hating on this just because its not on next-gen? Just because its not not on next-gen doesn't mean it will suck. And just because Unity is on next-gen doesnt mean its better because of slight improved last-gen graphics(which is what next-gen is so far). You will enjoy both games games anyway because its AC and it uses AC engine anyway(else its not an AC game). Plus people will comment how they loved previous games anyway. Also, why people are hating on the return of the naval open world? AC3's naval missions were awesome and so much fun. AC4's huge pirate open world exploration was also a huge and great change, instead of the usual city zones, not to mention its the kind of pirate game alot of pirate fans always wanted. And its fine if they use it again differently for another 1-2 games, because even that is no different than how they try different travel routes between city zones in AC1, AC2, ACB, ACR and AC3.

You mean AC4? Yeah, I worry about that. I loved AC4 so much--everything about it, especially that you were literally a pirate and then later on became an Assassin. The fact that you start as a Templar...I don't know how much I'll like playing as a Templar. Already the thought strikes me as bad and I'd do my best to avoid battle with Assassins. We'll see how things go, but I probably won't get this one because 1) seems too similar to AC4 and 2) playing as a Templar rustles my jimmies.

Black Flag was adored by fans, so of course Ubisoft'd try to milk the naval cow as much as they could before abandoning it for the coop gameplay in Unity. Also, what is this excuse for a trailer Ubi? Black Flag did the advertising so well! The trailers were so good to the point that I pre-ordered the game, and I NEVER pre-order games! And with Rogue... We get this? This is more of a DLC than a game though I understand that this is just a build up to AC unity this still looks pretty good and probably has a good few hours of gameplay in it,But really Templars?Come on we don't wanna play as them I understand it's good to change things up every now and then but playing as templars on an assassin's Creed game you are just like saying screw all the past storylines.You must go through mistakes to learn so I hope you learn from the mistake of letting us play as templars.I am probably going to buy this though just like any other DLC,This probably has a lot more than any DLC and no doubt is going to link up to both AC4 and AC Unity it probably has a pretty big map and hopefully a good storyline.All in all I like this but it is clear to everyone that this isn't going to be as good as AC4 as this is more of a title leading up to AC Unity.With the templar mistake it's OK too me because to learn not to fall you have to fall.I hope people will not judge this just by the fact that it is different from all the other AC's because all the one's who do are small minded and hate new stuff.

rogue does seem pretty interesting though it would be a nice change to see through the eyes of a Templar like the other gameplay vid for rogue shows shay taking over this gang hideout and then an assassin jumps out of nowhere and attacks him like how we would play as an assassin in previous assassins creed games and the assassins are kinda tough opponents like mini bosses and i wouldn't say rogue is dlc the main campaign is gonna be pretty long loads of new side content and cool new arctic terrain the game only focuses on single player there will be no multiplayer for this AC kinda relieved ac3 and ac4 multiplayer kinda sucked im more excited for unity than i am rogue though think what rogue has what is better than unity is the open world setting i think but im excited for both games and it is ubisoft Sofias first proper game they've only made a couple console ports for previous ubisoft games that's it so its kinda a big deal to them so i wont be too hard on this game im never harsh to new comers like im giving sledgehammer a chance with cod

Again ships? seriously? those few missions in Assassin's Creed 3 were boring enough and then they used ships again in black flag!! Rogue is just like AC3 with more snow, more ships and without even an assassin as the main character?? They already fucked up AC3 by letting you half the game play as a templar. Ubisoft has clearly ran out of ideas. c'mon you can do atleast 5 more AC's like in Asia (we haven't heard any history of asia at all), Russia (assassin Nikolai ), Africa, Greece, or during the Roman empire or you have to defend Jeruzalem or half of Europe from the attacks of the Crusaders/templars, or in ww2 and the nazi's were secretly templars. So many possibilities, Ubisoft.

soooo, you did skip AC4 I presume? :) also, you do know that Asia, Africa and loots of other "interesting" places in the world had cities build mainly from small, one floor wooden/dirt shacks - not really good environment for Parkour based game, also Ubi said many times that they do not want to go to the times with prevalent firearms - it would change gameplay to much.

I think it'd be awesome if they did what they did in AC4 with the past Assassin outfits. If you played the previous games you unlock the Templar Outfits from the game. Like Cesare from Brotherhood or Haytham from AC3.

Ok, Lets take a second to think this through guys. So Revelations is an expansion for AC1. That makes Brotherhood an expansion for Ac2 (Obviously) Unity is an expansion for Ac3. (Along with liberation) That makes Rouge an Expansion for Ac4. (Along with Freedom Cry)

Anyone know if actually BOARDING ships will return? rather than just being boarded? Can't find this anywhere and when the guy was fighting the french ships they just sunk, rather than giving the option to board. Boarding was the best bit of AC4 for me and i hope it wasn't removed
