It is crazy how swiftly Ubisoft went from industry juggernaut to barely hanging on. I had felt it was inevitable with how they released games that were so freaking samey as to feel instantly familiar upon release... but I still expected people to buy it anyway. Just look at sportball games. Guess fifa is a separate beast with a separate audience. Ubisofts core audience wasn't as dumb as they thought they were.
@julianhyams939210 сағат бұрын
It is best to view FIFA and Madden etc not as a series that keeps doping idiots into buying the exact same thing. But as one game that has yearly mega updates to refresh the graphics, mechanics and match the current state of the sport they are representing so the whole thing is as up-to-date as possible. This also allows them to restructure core gameplay elements from the ground up rather than trash an existing product with their experimenting. They then charge money for it akin to a DLC and people have the option to upgrade to it or not. Allowing their players to play the “version” of the game that they like the most. And of course you have very dedicated sports fans who will happily buy every one of them, but they probably don’t play much else so they aren’t exactly spending much more than other gamers each year. Overall, it is a clever business model that is not as sloppy as it seems from the outside.

I think sports games would've been the prime target for Live service. They never change, all that does are the players, the rules are set in stone, so are the venue and the stakes, so by introducing a perpetual game state they could've done what live service games should've been, a community driven long term game project like Fortnite has become. But instead they chose to make other games follow that model, and it killed its opinion widely

What's crazy is that no matter how much Ubisoft polishes AC Shadows, I think the damage has already been done. It's going to sell with so many fans of the Assassins Creed franchise, but everyone else may decide to pass on this. I'm not sure how much you can improve a game with only 6 extra months of development. Halo Infinite needed an extra year, and yet it was still not what most Halo fans wanted. Definitely a year of polished helped Halo Infinite look better, but the game didn't do as well as it could. Personally, I've been sick of AC games for the past decade. These games just feel so samey where you are just plopped down into a different environment. You do stealth kills, climb walls, parkour, finish an objective marked with a checkmark on the map, then go somewhere else to do it again and again. We will see how the game does. If AC Shadows is a substantial improvement over the AC formula we've played for decades, then maybe I'll check it out. If I don't see enough of a shift, I'll pass.

Tencent and the G Bros deal also had Tencent having minimal voting rights, meaning they are the so called silent partners. So we can see that Tencent's idea was to put in money and wait for the dividends to roll in. Which is NOT happening, so they now have a massive loss on paper but that will be locked in and realised if they sell. I like some of their games (mostly Ghost Recon) but every time I had to interact with Ubisoft (launcher, terrible support, ...) I was reassured that this company have no future and shouldnt have one ... if they dont change that (which they dont) I will be happy for them to cease existing.

Well, screw Ubisoft. There are enough indie devs out there making great games. No one needs their watered-down icon hunt open world slop.

Do they really want to release their game on March 20th? This year it'll be 30 years since the Tokyo subway sarin attack. It doesn't seem like a good idea to release an already controversial game on a day when a domestic terrorist attack occured.

I could not care less if Ubisoft go under. I don't want them to go under, I actually just don't care if they do. The only IP they "have" which I care about at all is Trackmania and frankly it will be fine with out them. I don't even play Trackmania I just enjoy watching other people play it. Worst case scenario, they go poof, it's a mess, doesn't really effect me at all. Best case scenario, they learn that copy pasta development with insane turn arounds is not the most profitable way to go any more and they actually start letting their devs have a go at making genuinely great games.

Here’s my input. Why buy AC shadows, if ghost of yotei is coming out? One game has a good track record and the other one is shaky.

Ubisoft doesn’t want another Star Wars outlaws, then why make Star Wars outlaws 2 electric boogaloo in Japan then?

They should get used to not owning their IPs

I hate this game because it has Denuvo drm and requires a constant internet connection, and the story of this series has gone to absolute shit, parkour has become dumb and non existence (they have removed side ejects and jump button). As someone who used to follow Ubisoft like a religion, played every single assassin's creed game, im done if they wanna treat their customers like that.

Need to just be bankrupt and get bough by Tencent, and having US banning Tencent would just be icing on the cake to the gymnastics they will have to do
