It’s strange for me thinking back on this. First time I saw AssClass anywhere, I thought it would be a typical weird anime about a goofy-looking creature. Took me a while to actually sit down and watch it (even so, I think I saw an abridged of it first). Now, years after it has ended, this odd-sounding anime has given me motivation in life where I had none before. People often used to tell me half-jokingly that I should become a history teacher considering the enthusiasm with which I talked about the subject, and I never took them seriously. Now, I’m on my way to become one, and that’s in no small part because of Koro-sensei. I may not be a superhuman ex-assassin who can fly at mach 20, fire laser beams, and regenerate lost limbs, but his desire to help these kids be the best they can be has inspired me to no end, and if I become even half the teacher he was I will be content. Thank you, Koro sensei, and class E. From the bottom of my heart.

I'm the same way this anime inspired me to teach English. I hope it did the same for many more people. Thank you koro-Sensei! it sounds silly, but this anime taught me how it felt to be a teacher. "We admire the most the ones that change our lives." I want to create in my students the same positive change koro-Sensei did.

Assassination classroom almost tricked me into wanting to be a teacher as a kid. Maybe if I was an ultra powerful squid man then I'd give it a try. Edit: I am now pursuing teaching abroad as a career. Looks like they got me after all. Edit 2. Currently I am working as an early literacy tutor to save up money to move to Spain to teach English. Edit 3. I leave in about a month. I don't know what the future holds for me. But I'd like to do something that matters with it. I hope you will do the same. Edit 4. Its been four years since I made the original comment and god i feel old. Anyway I'm currently living in a shitty flat in Spain working as a language assistant. The pay is ass and the commute is a pain but I've been enjoying it. I'm planning on getting my TEFL certification so I can get a job that actually pays.

Ok...this show brings back memories for me...when I was starting my Sophomore year (last year) I couldn’t find any of my friends for a whole week. Every year my school has had an anime, I made it. There was a new teacher and I didn’t trust her yet (she is awesome and one of the few people I feel actually genuinely want me in their classroom). Sorry for the mini-tangent. Anyway, I stayed there, in the classroom, nobody would talk to me since it was the firs anime club of the year and everyone was shy. It was just when my best friend at the time popped in to see if it was the room for anime club when this show started playing. Both of us loved the show and he stayed with me the entire time. Unfortunately, he and I have drifted apart, but this anime always makes me think of him. All those happy memories flood back to me like a tidal wave of bittersweet nostalgia.

I've been a teacher for roughly five years now. My fifth year of teaching was smack right in the middle of the pandemic. Context: our program is better appreciated through the socratic method but because of the challenges of online learning, some teachers just turned to pure lectures. However, I tried my best to engage them beyond the usual spoonfeeding. My students probably hated me to pushing them harder. rofl Then I saw Assassination Classroom for the first time. I felt that maybe if they can't appreciate my methods now, maybe they'll change their minds when they join me in the profession. A teacher never gives up on his students and just like Koro-sensei, I await that bittersweet moment when my students will finally "defeat" me. Even then, I'd count that as a win.

After watching Assassination Classroom and re-watching the last opening with English lyrics, heartache wasn't an option. These kids didn't want the school year to end because they'll be thrown into high school and they won't ever see the teacher who forever changed their lives. The questions and the memories they all shared together would be the last they'd ever make when the day came. There are so many reasons why Koro-sensei should've died earlier and why he should've been spared (just as Nagisa and Karma had debated heavily over), but it will never change the fact he will have a place in everyone's hearts.
