I am a proud American, but I have developed a great liking and appreciation for the simple yet elegant beauty of Japanese film and culture. I visited Japan as an American naval sailor long ago. That started me on the road to learning about Japan, its culture, and its people. This lifelong appreciation has added much to my relatively short life. This film is, I think, a good example of what I enjoy in an excellent film. there is action, adventure, and beautiful Japanese women with their understated elegance. What's not to like? Thank you for your much-appreciated entertainment.

陰謀が露見した後、椿姫とシュメは藩に戻らなかったと言う事なのですか。椿姫ではなく、妹が養子をとって後を継いだのなら、自害した側室や家老の陰謀は半分成功した事になりますよね。妹姫には罪はないですが、ハンベイが苦労して生きながらえさせた椿姫にとっての正義は戻らなかったようですね。シュメも椿姫を守ったのなら、藩主の娘を守ったことになるので、藩主の忠実な家来になる筈なのに、どうして侍を捨てなければならないのでしょうか。終わり方が中途半端です。
