This is one of those games that you come back to and appreciate. It can be grindy and glitchy but the moment to moment is so satisfying. It’s so fun to take down enemy outposts and help the townsfolk and discover mysteries and treasures and tombs. Honestly this might be the best assassins creed game ever made.

To this day, the life that the characters have still amazes me, they are so energetic and have so much attitude, the voice acting is great, the cinematics in the game are beautiful, that interaction between characters is much more interesting than in the following games.

One thing about AC 1's Damascus and AC Origins' Egypt, since both are set in desert kingdoms, you can actually feel the heat of the sun burning through the desert even though behind the screen, none of the game can achieve that realistic feeling so far whenever they use desert as the background setting. Only Ubisoft pulled it off, it makes you feel like a citizen living that place and in that era.

Having watched the Vikings series, I feel Assassin's Creed Valhalla also deserves the same love with it's combat, Environmental settings, facial features and customisation. Not the typical Assassins creed game but come on, a great game as a standalone with all the dlcs and Asgard, Jotunheim etc... Loved the feel and definitely the type of game to comeback to and appreciate.

Valhalla for me, while the main character isn’t an assassin, feels a lot like an AC game to me tbh. The only one out of the 3 new formula games that hasn’t felt like AC was Odyssey. I agreed with alot of people that, besides the grindiness of Odyssey, would have been better if it was branded as a story set in the AC universe. Because it did cover a lot of ISU lore from what I played. Valhalla on the other hand really gives me more of Black Flag vibes, where the main character wasn’t an assassin in the game but worked with them throughout the story. And it also set up the formal creation of the Templars (that’s what they were hinting at with King Alfred using the alias ‘Poor Fellow Soldier of Christ”). Which that might lead into more of a formal formation of the Masyaf brotherhood who rebranded the Hidden Ones as The Assassin Order. Eivor also was similar to the characters of Altair, Desmond, Ezio, etc. as they were all characters descended from ISU blood.

Funny ya know - a lot of people are in the same boat as you and me I too bought the game at launch, gave it a go, found the series new direction too 'jarring' and 'unfamiliar', reached Alexandria and then put the game down for years. Gave it another chance recently and oooooooooooooooooh boy did I make the right choice cos damn - this is easily one of the best AC games of the series I hear a lot of people say that they picked it up and then never played it beyond the first couple hours. My only advice to people is do what me and you did and the give the game a proprer chance - you won't regret it

I always remember Hepzefa's sword from origins and not many a weapon after that felt as unique, I think it's because it looked like a plain old sword yet set afire, it felt more magical for that then fancy/shiny helix weapons, it felt like it fit in more and stuck with me throughout origins as a weapon of choice, it felt like it complimented Bayek's anger, only in weapon form 👌🏼

You don't even have the hidden blade you get the Spear of Leonidas. To get the hidden blade you'd have to pay for an expansion. What kinda braindead thing is that. At least in Valhalla you get the hidden blade in the prologue. Odyssey is fun but not good.

I was impressed how I played that game on Xbox and it looked that good while basically having extremely rare and short loading screens after the initial one. The whole world was just so seamless, traveling between cities, flying, going into tombs. Odyssey wasn't like that and there was a lot of loading screens.
