@@RS_Garage_US Honestly, just you talking about the advantages of the system, you talking through what you’re doing while tuning, any coverage of events if you’re working with Brett on his car still, at least to the extent that you’re able to without giving away any competitive advantages. The more in depth, the better! Also, coverage of your role in those type of events like World Cup Finals, Bonneville, etc would be amazing to watch and likely bring in new subscribers. Now to just talk Cleetus/AdamLZ or some other popular automotive KZbinr into switching to Motec and you covering the install would be the dream as far as information, content, and bringing in new people where it’s so deserved. Either way, I’m here for the long haul! Congratulations on you getting to focus on what matters most to you with your new venture. 1h with the master?! Hold on, let me get a refreshment this is going to be good. A question for you... I'm surprised by compression ratios typically seen in 2JZ builds, with 10:1 being considered "high". With the tuning tech advancements and parts quality in the past 10-ish years, I have seen compression numbers gradually going up - for example, I set my B series street/strip Civic at 12:1, with a Garrett G30-900 bolted to it running 33psi (ethanol only). With 15 degrees of timing at that boost level, the plugs look great. Only reason I question this is, I noticed a significant drivability difference when going to this compression. The engine is much snappier, more responsive, has more torque everywhere, and is a lot more fun to drive off-boost around town. Very nice to have more torque on a little 1.8 lol Edit: just realized I forgot to ask the question itself. Why do you think there aren't more 11:1 comp or higher off the shelf pistons for the 2J?
@RS_Garage_USАй бұрын
:) The smaller bore/smaller engines in lighter cars will get away with more compression ratio, they also have nice gear splits in the transmission. If your Honda was heavier with larger gear splits you'd be more knock prone. If you were turbo limited a higher compression ratio would something we'd be chasing. We can just add boost and mind the pressure ratio and heat. Direct injection is a good window into controlling detonation with high compression ratios.

Hi Jay good stuff as always. Do you think that Dart will come up with a tall deck block, like a 6mm increased deck hight. Will the increased deck height help with revving a 96mm stroke combo higher and more reliably. Just theory
@RS_Garage_USАй бұрын
I don't think the 96mm crank is the hang up, it's moreso poor head flow and pressure ratio. There are a lot of engines that are over square and rev up. As far as Dart making a tall deck, I sure hope so. ~Jay

Jay love all the information that you hand out. I was just wondering. Lately I started noticing that the brand new factory oil pumps are not starting to be at the same quality like they used to be. I was wondering, have you had any experience with wet sumps, external oil pump? I know it’s really common with the old-school Mopar guys to Use that style set up.
@RS_Garage_USАй бұрын
Before installing a factory oil pump Jay opens it, inspects it, applies lube and then loctite to the screws when he puts it back together. For higher stress application we go with a Dry sump.

Not sure if you have access, but grab a copy of "the 1000bhp gran prix cars" It's an excellent authority in what the "no budget" F1 turbo program did in the early years to make them live at 4000mbar.. water, then toluene...and never over 8:1 , some as low as 6.5:1 when avgas was used..all with very good specific power of minimum 140bhp\Liter\bar.
@RS_Garage_USАй бұрын
I've spent a lot of time geeking about about that era. It's really incredible how far we are behind that pace. ~Jay
@Dave-but-whyАй бұрын
@@RS_Garage_US absolutely! It's kind of shameful if you really think about it😅 If we apply all that was made illegal, aka water, black smoke toluene, ridiculous power and durability should follow.. The secret they used was taking advantage of low turbine inlet pressure vs map... Combined with a large clearance volume.. super high ve was possible.. The zakspeed video shows this.. ,3.5 bar map vs 1.5 turbine inlet pressure... All the stuff is out there, it just needs to be uncovered again 🤌
@Dave-but-whyАй бұрын
Excellent 👌 one thing that I do hope, if an aftermarket head does happen, is the same raised ports of the ge.. it's a big deal.. I'm curious what compression ratio you settled on with the 84/87 combo.. Have you considered a proper water injection program to take the peaks and heat out of the combustion process? Would be a no brainer with the long "time on load" stuff you are doing now🤌
@RS_Garage_USАй бұрын
The new head should be a merger of the K series head and the JZ head. Moving the valvetrain up and out of the way, allowing the port height and volume we'd like to have. It would also leave us with rocker arms so we can run some lift! Yes I've considered water injection, I'm going to move to Methanol ASAP. ~Jay
@Dave-but-whyАй бұрын
@@RS_Garage_US I wonder what happened to that "suprasport" head from years ago... All K series gear... But yeah...cast is fast... Let's imagine the common K series turbo specific power of 145bhp\liter\bar...a 3 liter on 3 bar boost would net us 1750hp....👌 But yeah..excess fuel is king for keeping those temps down..I'd be careful with pre ignition though...surface discharge plugs might be in order... Loving the channel.. it's my new favourite 🤌 PS...could just do what Ferrari did, and mix the water into the fuel.. "emulsion"..10% by volume..
@kyleblair5004Ай бұрын
Supra Sport wanted like 20k for that head. Plus, they had VVT and VVL which pretty much ruled it out for everyone that would have the budget for it. The drag racers don't use those features. That's for street car guys. And street car guys aren't buying 20k heads. It's a shame though. There's probably a good space for cast or billet heads in the 2x OEM price range. Just not 10x.
