I followed right along with you. It was easy and it took about 20 minutes to assemble because you're video was easy to follow and was detailed. I want to thank you for making what seemed like a hard job so easy.

this is the clearest most detailed video. i have 2 billy bookcases waiting to be assembled. i feel more confident now to be able to do it on by myself, although it might be too heavy to lift up on my own, being i can barely push the box across the floor!

THANK YOU! I did the first one in about an hour, stopping frequently to rewind and replay, to make sure I was doing it correctly. The second one I did with my boyfriend in less than 15 min. SO easy! Thanks again

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! First IKEA purchase and first time homeowner so I needed all the help I could get. Just walking into IKEA was intimidating and getting these bookcases home was a struggle so I was worried about actually putting them together. Your video was much easier than trying to figure out the picture instructions.

This video is so great!!! You make it look so easy! I have been procrastinating building my Billy Bookshelf but you gave me incentive to do it right now... I’ll follow along your video and will report back ;) Thank you! ***edited to add: OMG! This video was incredibly easy to follow along and I built my Billy Bookcase (with a few interruptions) in about 1 hour. So happy I found you! You really did a great job explaining every step with such attention to details. Made this potentially annoying task so easy! Bless you and thank you thank you thank you! 🙏 🤗🤗🤗🥰

I have always been petrified of assembling furniture (heck, anything). A friend gifted me this bookshelf and I asked around if someone could assemble it for; when no one did (even though I was willing to pay), I saw your video and gave it a shot...and I did it! Thank you so much, for making it this easy and worthwhile!

We just had five Billy bookcases delivered to the finished part of our basement. Am I here because I am procrastinating... or because I want to learn how to assemble them? ;) Anyway, your video was super helpful and I thank you for it! Your tip about marking the middle shelf before putting on the back panel was one I've never seen before -- will definitely do that. One last sip of coffee, and now, off to work!

I have found that using a Pozidrive screwdriver instead of a Phillips head screwdriver works better when assembling these IKEA pieces. Pozidrive is the standard in Europe and is the type of screw that IKEA uses. The Phillip’s head wants to “cam” out where the Pozidrive holds fast. Also, I pre- drill the nail holes for the nails holding the back with a very small drill bit making it easier to drive the nails home. Just my two cents worth. Thanks for posting the video!

So happy to have found your instructions. The only additional instructions I would have liked would be to differentiate between the size of the unit you are assembling and the size I bought which has no center shelf and fewer implements. Otherwise, THANK YOU!
Step four, by now you're pretty drunk. Your laminate particle board is starting to split due to your mishandling and poor quality. Get the box of decking and/or drywall screws you have and just have at it. Your bookshelf is now assembled.

5:15 After I marked the centre on mine, and eventually got the back on (not easy when the room is not much longer than the height of the bookcase), I didn't need to measure from top to bottom for where to put nails since I could just draw a centre line. Also, you can feel where the centre is as well, so that's fairly straight-forward. However, the back panel didn't sit quite flush with mine. It was fully in, but slightly skewed at an angle top AND bottom, as if it had been cut badly. This is the problem with mass production. I got the nails in but it should've been a bit longer because it could come free from one or two of them, if pressure was put on. If they made it a bit longer so it overhung slightly below the bottom shelf, that would give you a bit of play with it. I'd best not say how long mine too me :-D

What's the secret to getting a tight assembly. I've heard some suggest carpenter's glue?
@trashman16946 жыл бұрын
If you glued all the joints and put wood clamps on it overnight it'd definitely make it more sturdy. But I doubt most people assembling ikea furniture would go to such lengths.

count the holes & count down from each shelf, but you may want one shelf with a bit more height for larger books or accessories. i have some oversized books i want to put on the bottom shelf so i will make it a bit higher.

How do you know where to mark for the nails?
@Iscaper4 жыл бұрын
Mark the center of the edge on the back of the bookcase with a pencil before installing the backing, then use a straight edge to trace between the marks when the backing is on.
