This video shows every French town, ranked from the most left-wing, to the most right wing.
50% of the towns are in red color, and 50% are in the blue.
Data: French presidential elections, 2017, first round
www.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/...
Methodology:
1. I classified every candidate in 3 categories:
- Left: Poutou, Arthaud, Cheminade, Mélenchon, Hamon (weight: -1)
- Centre: Macron (weight : 0)
- Right: Lasalle, Fillon, Asselineau, Dupont-Aignan, Le Pen (weight: -1)
2. I calculated a weighted average of the political score in every town
3. I ranked every town from most left wing to most right wing
4. The first half of the town is in red (the most left wing towns), and the second half in in blue (the most right wing towns)

Hello, it is an interesting way of seeing the French political division. However I am not sure that the presidential election are the best data to use are they is only the biggest parties and some people vote to eliminate somebody. I think it would be more representative to use a local election such as the parliament or the town council. If you want to have a national election then there is the still the European's however with the high low of people not going to vote I don't know if they are worth anything.

There are actually 4 main political orientations Far Right (Rassemblement National): Authority Inequality and Order based on ethnic views of a France of the past anti-migrant anti-EU with a little bit of a social program and protectionnism policy. Right (Les Républicains): Order and Inequality based on a view serving the top of society as much as possible, free market enthousiasts , trying to destroy the welfare state. Center-Left pretending to be left but actually right wing (La République en Marche): Free market and openness will solve problem, it's just a coroporate party helping big money interests but they pretended to be "social and ecologist". Authority and Inequality pretending to be Green and Social. Left (La France Insoumise): Equality and Green based on a view aiming at a rebuild of the welfare state and making large scale green policies. But also changing the constitution and letting people write what they want in it. Basically the divide is on principles Right wing people think the social order is good and should be maintained as it is or increase its violence, Left wing people think the social order is unjust and should be changed as change the constitution, change capitalism, change public services so on and so forth. To give a few examples : Half of French people think capitalism is a bad economic system (more than half actually), the rest think it is good. Half of French people don't see a problem with gay marriage, the other half is against, well not anymore they don't care now they figured it doesn't change their lives. Basically the divide is as follow Maintaining Order VS Changing Unjust Order.

Its the Sacred Earth, a religious symbol, but in France it the blason of the region of Vendée, and it was the symbol of a Monarchist rebellion in Vendée during the Revolution of 1789. So you can say its a Monarchist symbol, but monarchism is virtually dead in France so it could juste be a symbol of his region.

@romualdcaffeserre6230
@romualdcaffeserre6230 3 жыл бұрын
North east is the most populated, most urbanised area, with big cities, big industries and son on. The globalisation has hit those area the hardest, destroying factory, making a lot of people jobless while offering little to no possibility of reconversion. They also suffer from the important criminality that's often the downside of living in a big city, and ressent on the newcomer muslim immigrant for a number of reason. To them, the social welfare system of france benefits only to the lazy, and the taxes and regulations are a weigh on their paycheck more than anything else . On the other side, south-east are on the winning side of both globalisation and the social welfare system: they are more agrarian/rural, making a lot of stuff that's very popular both inside and outside the country( cheese, wine...). Their sector of activity are higly protected by the state, the important criminality of the north east does not reach them. They are also a very touristic area, with nice landscape, the sea, the nearby montain and a lot of sun. This is, of course, a very gross and very incomplete summary, but yeah, that's the biggest line here.

The people here are rich and well-educated, and the poor live in the suburb nearby, where the real criminality problem is confined. I dont know much about the US, but if you want to compare france with the US, Paris is the grumpy version of New York, the south west is a rural version of california, and the north west would be the urban version of the fly-over state who voted for trump, like alabama and stuff. In regards to your first claim, that pertains largely to those "natives" who both score high in ethnic identification and who are concerned with relative group status. Otherwise, the statement doesn't quite apply to "natives" as a whole. As for your second, I'm not sure how you've quantified that such people have been proven to all, or even largely, wall themselves off into ethnostates. Given that they are more likely to live in the most diverse parts of their respective countries, I could equally well retort that they're practicing what they preach. Given that you're using the phrase "culturally enriched" in the sort of meme-y, dog whistle sense, I do wonder how objective any analysis you make could really be. That's why for example Napoléon III's people was 80% happy of hym or a majority of the French people in 1789 was agree with king Louis XVI and now with republican propaganda and republican domination of the politic people see kings or emperor like tyranny (sorry for my bad English)

It fits perfectly where is racial diversity. Everywhere preserved (on the west), the population is predominantly of French ancestry and vote on the left-side for the sake of feeling like they are nice people. Everywhere on the east, descendant of migrants and migrants from Sub-Saharan Africa and North Africa make up a much higher part of the population, plus they are growing much faster. Consequently in those areas, people are voting more and more on the right as they deal with the consequences in terms of criminality and the dilution of the French identity.
