Completely doable to assemble one person. 57F out of shape, can’t lift a whole lot anymore but a little bit at a time I picked up my NP4 body to a couple of temp elevations with some boards until I could easily set it on a table then the pedestal. All by myself. Mounted my CB3200 to her pedestal solo as well. It’s all a process but it’s doable.

Great video! Thank you for showing the assembly of the Cobra sewing machine. I am thinking about purchasing a Class 4, but I was very concerned about how to get the machine inside the garage from the pallet and how to put it together. After watching the video, I am confident that between myself and my husband we will be able to do it. Thank you!

Looks like you put the hand/pulley wheel on backwards. Thank you for doing this video. It makes it very clear what to expect in terms of how the machine arrives.

I'd also add .... the lower part of the belt goes on the smallest slot on the servo motor. There are two 'open' slots available, and the belt rides on the smallest pulley on the servo wheel.

First, great video. You appear to have, like me, some farm boy common sense. I believe this is the first “unboxing” KZbin video I have seen that was done the “right” way. I see want too many folks not making a little bit of time to figure something out: they try to lift a heavy object out of a box where the object is nearly always protected with a Styrofoam shell that is very difficult to pull out of a box. That is just nuts! The first think I do is open the top box flaps to see what is on top, commonly the user manual, small parts, etc., so I can remove these items. Then I peruse the manual to get a feel what is “inside” the Styrofoam. Commonly one can lift the top or one piece of the Styrofoam off the heavy object and get a feel for its orientation. If it appears the heavy object is “supposed” to be / have a top and bottom, then I can decide the “better” way to get it out of the box. If the box insists “This Side Up” then I close up the top flaps and turn the box upside down. I then cut the tape securing the bottom of the box and re-flip the box so bottom flaps are open which allows me to easily lift off the cardboard container and its Styrofoam; this causes the heavy object to be right side up. In your case (and another heavy object I unboxed a few days ago), the heavy object was setting on its side inside the shipping container. So I then turned the box on one side and slide the object out thru the open box flaps, causing the object to be right side up. If the heavy object is on its side or it does not matter which end is up, I flip the boxed object upside down, as was done in the video - and my back is a lot happier (but not my chiropractor). It is a good idea to go to Harbor Freight and get one of their magnetic parts trays: they are a godsend to keep metal bolts and other items “stuck” in one place. Because the base of the machine’s stand is steel(?), this would be a great place to place the magnetic tray of parts so they are accessible, when needed, and the parts, bolts, etc., will not fall off the table or roll under some barely accessible whatever or bounce this way when you were absolutely sure it bounced that way. I have installed many heavy workshop items on my own, All I sometimes need is a friend to get my very heavy power tool or whatever in my shop. Most of the time, folks these days barely remember which way to turn a nut to tighten it, let alone figure out a systemic what to install something: if ya want something done right…. So, I use a chain hoist to lift heavy items; this is _clearly_ the best way to install a heavy object onto a stand. I can slowly lift and lower a heavy object and get it into right position without busting my back or smashing my fingers. This allows me to double check what I am doing and not have to strain in an awkward position holding something in place while trying to align bolt holes, etc. Even with a chain hoist, I sometimes realize I should have done this first instead of that or using that bolt here instead of there or put this part together before I bolt those two pieces together. Which is another basic reason to read / skim thru the manual: visualize a good and efficient setup process - recommended by the manufacturer. Doing it the right way will always be the better option; with a chain hoist, I can readily correct or redo installation steps a better / recommended way: why do something the hard way when someone has already figured out the better way? Another good item to get at Harbor Freight are those dirt cheap dollies; I use set the heavy object on the dollies and can easily rotate and move my item that is in a better position that is easiest for me to handle. Harbor Freight has some great heavy duty nylon straps to help lift things. I do not intend to do a big sales pitch for Harbor Freight, but they do have lots of handy-person stuff, at one location, that makes most jobs easier; and they always have sales and discount coupons. When I opted to change the caster base of my cabinet table saw, band saw, etc., that ol’ chain hoist worked great: indispensable. Actually, the “standard” caster wheels of my band saw were pretty flaky; additionally, band saw is so tall and top heavy, like a drill press. I actually used two Harbor Freight wood dollies as my “base” and bolted a 36" x 18" ¾” plywood on top of the two dollies and then bolted the band saw on the plywood. What made this easy was I could pre-drill bolt holes in the plywood _before_ I set the band saw on some dollies; drilling alignment holes to hold the band saw on its new mobile base would have been very difficult if not done before the plywood base was attached to the dollies. One final point… This guy has some great videos and very helpful tips. The Leather Machine Co folks are not very accessible, do not return phone calls, or respond to emails. When I get my machine, it will be from Makers Leather Supply. He deserves support, particularly all his helpful videos that are relevant and clearly understood.

Thanks for the video Aaron, just curious about how much would you say the machine head weighs on its own? I got my C4 machine already assembled and now have to move it to a second floor up about 15 stairs and dont know if tying it to a hand truck dolly and going up step by step is the best idea. thanks again!

Thank you for showing me how to unpack and assemble my Cobra class 4. There wasn’t a assembly sheet with my machine. The DVD that came with the machine had absolutely no assembly instructions. The leather machine company should pay you for doing their job. I wished I had know that you sold these machines I would have bought it from you instead. Thank you. Do you have any other videos on the class 4 machines? Thanks again Robert Duvall.

How do we know when to step up to a machine like this from say a Consew industrial machine? Application would be sewing thicker leathers for bags, belts. Obviously this Cobra is much more heavy duty but I'm wondering if there's a general rule when to make the jump up. Thanks!
