Assembling The sBitx Developer Edition!

Ashhar Farhan introduced me to the sBitx at Four Days In May this year, I was intrigued. A fully functioning Raspberry Pi controlled 40 watt HF radio for $500 ($300 in kit form) sounds like it could be a winner for many new hams! Lets Build It!

Note that even the Basic kit comes assembled and aligned, so you don’t need to do that tune up. Just install your Pi and Screen and you should be Good to go!

I purchase the fully assembled radio. It is 10.5x6x2.25 in size. Antenna is on the right side, not the back. All connections are on the left side (mic,ear, key, power. Right side has usb, internet, antenna. Speaker on top. Works great !

Good news! I was shipped replacement boards for my non-working sBitx. They arrived earlier today. I've since installed them and now have a radio that receives signals!

Yep this is the case with everything. It's 2022 and you just have to spend all of your money now and buy everything allready made now a days. Iam finding this to be the case for everything now. But with inflation it's cheaper to just buy everything premade.

Also a problem with voltage regulator/finals connection to the heatsink. Replacement buck regulator being sent out along with spare finals.

Them fets dont take much to pop it was the same on the earlier bitex's the fets are made for switching not rf i know they do work at rf but easy to pop the other thing is power drops of at the higher frequencys at least fets are low cost parts the receiver sounded good

Someone needs to marry this with a more capable computer and drive a linear. No not portable but a cheap Flex.
