Great video! Really excited to see how this saw cuts! A quick tip for cleaning those side covers, try a sink or bucket full of hot water, dawn dish soap, and a scrub brush, works really well especially in all the nooks and crannies. You can wash most saw parts like that!

Hey tinman, It was very cool to see, how excited you were, when you fired up that saw and it ran! That "liftup" when accellerating was very impressive! Wow! Call me a Stihl guy and the only husqvarna i have are have 2 of the small 242XP. I got them in a bad shape and rebuilded them quite from scratch. I really like them for light work and cutting off branches. But now I'm thinking about getting one of those 266. Man, that's a great saw! Only problem is to find spareparts here in germany. You're inpiring! Carry on! Thank you!

Hi Tinman!!😀😀 When you put the sprocket on and it has holes on one side you need to make sure they are facing the outside. If you don't the sawdust will carry along and plug the bar oil slot with sawdust. The holes are made for clearing the sawdust from the sprocket toward the outside. Take care my friend!!😀😀 Logger Al

Very nice! Be sure the seal in the oilpump is not touching the inner ring of the crank bearing. It will wear out the seal very fast, I've seen a few that way, originally installed.

I've had similar issues with the starter pully spreading and cracking. I'm just speculating. The rope was too small to begin with or stretched over time causing the rope to get skinny. Causing the rope to wedge down beside itself spreading the walls of the pully out until it cracks. Also with high compression or preignition the saw can kick back when you shut it off. I've seen Buckin pull the crank rope out when he shuts the saw off. I don't know why he does that but I thought, when I saw him do that, wow, that can help when it kicks back. I used to use a mic and measure the rope and replace it with similar size but now I measure the distance between the sides of the pully and install a rope that fits almost to tight. I couldn't find a new pully for a 61. I went to Farmertec and purchased a pully for 2.74. Its working fine. since I was ordering from them and having to pay 6.31 shipping I bought two Caber rings 7.10 and two bumper strips 78 cents. I know this video is 2 years old but I thought someone might be helped. I love Tinman. Any time I have a saw problem I go to his channel. By the way the 61 I spoke of was given to me because it was locked up years ago and would cost more to fix than a new saw. I untwisted the crank rope, put fuel in it and it cranked on the third pull.

Cert clips hold the wrist pin in N they always break on my favorite motor I work on the yd100 I have come up with my own mod for them and done it three times since I came up with it and it stopped the cert clip from breakin of and ruining my cylinder walls n piston. (Rip 5 different motors before fix) but my simple fix works great but now I’m tryin to find the sweet stop of reliable and monster the last one about four days ago was a bit to much monster and broke a ring and screwed the whole top end. New top end on the way n I’ll b a lil more mild with my durations 😀

Tinman, I got a "serious" problem with my 266XP pulley. When I run the saw (which was ported after your lovely instructions!), the starter rope comes out of the pulley and the flywheel is eating the rope inside until it breaks. I tried the original 266 starter and a 61 starter. None of them work. Do you have an idea?! Stay safe, buddy!

If you still don’t know it’s to stop the motor from pulling the cord in if the motor happened to turn slightly backwards when shut off. (Saves the rewind cord) especially bigger high compression saws
