Additional tip for those who will try to solder for the first time 1: The flux makes your solder job easier. This is optional because solder wire has a little flux on the inside. Typical flux is soft like ice cream or jelly, if not then heat it first like she did in the vid. 2: Use a soldering wire with "lead" on it. Find "lead" or 60/40 or any ratio with lead. Lead free solder is NEVER BEGINNER FRIENDLY because its hard to melt. Dont inhale the smoke of course, use a fan to blow the smoke away or a fume extractor if someone has one. 3: start your soldering iron, dont let the tip touch anything you dont want to burn. if you have a soldering stand use it, leave it on for a minute for good measure(depends on how fast your soldering iron heats up) its ready to use when it can melt solder wire when you put it 4: Clean the soldering tip before using it (i almost cried of how black her tip is) using a soldering sponge(typical, using a normal dish sponge works at some point before it melts or get dirty, never use it for cleaning dishes again if you really used it) or a brass wire sponge(poke it with the tip lightly as to not destroy the tip). Clean tips makes the solder melts on contact everytime 5: While soldering, try not to heat up the board for too long. Just enough for the solder to melt and spread. Leaving it for too long causes the solder pad to "detach" from the pcb, rendering the whole circuit board useless if you manage to break atleast one 6: Beware of bridges and cold joints, bridges happens if you apply too much solder, causing the pins/pads to short circuit. Use a desoldering pump or solder wick to remove the excess. cold joints is not fully melting the solder because of low heat or improper contact of the soldering iron and the solder pad causes it to crack over time especially during intense gameplay. You can search it up what a cold solder looks like. To repair it, apply flux on the joint, put a little solder on your soldering iron and reheat Enjoy soldering, it is so satisfying if you do it right

I’ve soldered a few keyboards and I did this exactly. I have a gas soldering iron so it’s nice not having wires :) Also solder wick is helpful

One moment I'm just casually playing beat saber, and the next I'm falling down a fantastical rabbit hole of incredible music, rhythm games that I never knew existed, and assembly guides for custom controllers. It seems the best things in life happen by chance.

Ive been using this controller for over 6 months now, I was an original buyer of prototype and current versions! I love this controller and after 6 months it is still perfectly fine! Also a great way to prevent the sliding of the controller is to use some magnets under your mouse pad, then just put the other connecting magnets on the feet of the controller! :D

would personally suggest not soldering the big pins of the encoders unless you are sure they are good quality, i've had encoders break and desoldering the big pins are a pain, though in this case understandable you'd want to solder those big pins eventually cause of the stress they would be under from constant use
@tokaku2 жыл бұрын
right, good point. People should only solder down the big pins when they're 100% sure they work during testing. Only after then it's safe to solder them down. Nothing holds the encoders down at all in the case, so the solder at the pins is kind of necessary for stability

this is a completely random comment you might not read, but i just wanted you to know that i was watching your "how to make osu skin" video about an hour ago, before that i drove 2 hours from a trip, went straight to my school on campus for another 7 hours, and am now at the schools library, your video came up and i was interested, but halfway through i was just so tired from the day and came to the realization that your voice was really comforting for me, so i ended up falling asleep. when i woke up, and hour later, i was like "omg what happened" and then your video was playing and i just had a "wth" moment. i just wanted you to know . :)
