Just got one. My display seems to be in F with a max of 400(F) which is well below what's advertised (350C), any ideas how to fix that?

UM i have seen video where pcb soldering is directly in metal mesh not mount rails and board get hot enough to solder smd directly. i have this too and not test yet this

What is the reasoning for not using a UL listed cable? Not sure what the designation means

Hello Ryan! I hope life is treating you well! 😁 I do not think it is power issue. The issue is the thing is bloody wide open! Heat escapes. Else, PCB needs to be placed right next to (touching) the heating element to be effective without extra assistance from heat gun. It is like an oven with its door open and then needs flamethrower to bake stuff. Makes no sense to me. I can understand the convenience of being able to clearly see and easily mess with components but still makes no sense to me if something is inefficient (but claims all sorts). Oh, about your question on motor, what fascinates me is the graph. I always read and hear that the motor will consume more power if its rotor has resistance compared to if it freely spins, but I never see a working one. Sometimes theory is meaningless without practical.

Hello Real Christopher! Life is treating me well, for sure. I hope the same for you!. :) Fair enough - This certainly more of a rework station (Where having free access to components is paramount) We'll see if you're theory holds true! Thankfully, I hope to take another attempt at getting a reflow set-up going, and I think the next product I want to try will be easy to add a "hood" or "door" to. Efficiency is always good. That would be a fun graph to see - Motor Current and Voltage over time... Hopefully I can deliver something there!

@@EEforEveryone Dear Ryan, I hope I am not instigating anything. Hahahahaha. Just common sense and observation. Of course common sense is not common. "Rework" set-up or station is rather new to me, and is kind of makes-no-sense to me. But yes, it is essential if one needs to move components around on the fly. (Yeah. I do not want to ignore your question about the motor video as I could be seen "jealous" that you got married! 😂 🤣😂 🤣 A little humor there. By the time you responded COINCIDENTALLY I went silent. I read your response but I was busy hunting and researching for oven. Juggling between money and quality. Sigh. Proper oven is never inexpensive.)

Lol, no instigating there. :) Rework stations are a really niche thing. They're helpful If you get some prototype boards that have a bga on them back and 'something' doesn't work- they make it easier to swap complex no-lead parts because a gentle even heat goes a long way! I wasn't worried about you being less active in the comments- you were certainly missed, and I know how life is. Sometimes it gets busy, but that's a great thing about TY- it's easy to catch up and see where things are! I hope your oven purchase went well! I hate mine. I swear it's made to burn food, any setting less than "full on" is just choosing a timer for how long it'll wait before turning "Full on". No joke, I've seen the burner stay on for 60 seconds straight on "4" out of 10

I'm impressed anyone can solder or remove such tiny components by hand. I find even the larger scale surface mount stuff painful to work with my old eyes. Working on my old 80s computer through-hole components and DIP packages is so much easier...

Hi Bryan! These were 0603's - tweezers are certainly necessary! No magnification yet .. but that comes for everyone eventually. :)

There is a small pot on the board. It needs to be tweaked to allow correct temperature. you will need to open and use a temperature probe on the hotplate to adjust accordingly

I do not think it is advertised anywhere as a reflow oven. So I'm not supprised you are not able to solder without adding extra heat. But I think it might buy one because it seems to work very well as a preheater. It also looks quite descent for a Chinese made device.
