Future redeemed is easily one of the best DLC experiences I've had, along with classics like the Shivering Isles. I really hope they do better with the inevitable tears of the kingdom expansion pass than they did with breath of the wild, which I felt was a little lean for the asking price.

Great video Daniel! :D I bought the XC3 Expansion Pass the day Future Redeemed got it's date revealed. So i'm experiencing the Expansion Pass backwards as i've finished Future Redeemed now and fully completing it. At time of this comment. I have 2 Unique Monsters left with max, community, enemypedia, collectopedia, and field missions and everyone just shy of level 99 with all slots unlocked. I LOVE completing these games and going for 100% and the entire story is a masterpiece. Started with XC2 and never looked back. Curious to see if you're going to review other DLC like this! Like XC2 Expansion Pass. On a random side note too I can't unhear the sound of Glimmer's weapon sounding like an error message now!!! But here's a weird one. The start of the field theme that plays in the daytime for Vermillion Woods and Aurora Shelf the way it starts with that very soft gentle piano. Can't help but hear the beginning of the Goosebumps TV Series Intro! Weird.

(Minor spoiler warning) One thing that is not often mentionned and that I absolutely loved is the world building and map of FR. The region perfectly fits in the hole of Aionios. Perfectly intergrates Gaur's Plain, Tantal, Valak Mountain, Colony 9, Tephra cave, Prison Island to give again a sense of merged worlds. We constantly see Uraya, Mor Adrain, Gormott, Bionis head, and Mekonis Sword all around you, and great views on Cadensia, and that gives a nice continuity in the world building. And the finale explains why this region disappeared (rip mor ardain and gormott's head..).
@mangetsu0012
@mangetsu0012 Жыл бұрын
Just the position of Agnus castle is weird. I expected it to be above Cadensia, either above the old city's place like in base game, or above the lost colony as it's said the old castle was there. But in FR it is in the opposite direction, like above Fornis.

If you enjoyed base Xenoblade 3 then Future Redeemed is 100% necessary, both due to how amazing it is and how much of a satisfying conclusion it is to the game’s story. Somehow it managed to surpass Torna, which already set the bar very high for how great single-player DLC can be. XC3 was already my favorite Xenoblade game after beating it, and this DLC only further solidifies that notion.👌🏽

Future Redeemed is actually a REALLY good Story Expansion DLC, and ESPECIALLY for those who have played through XBC1+2 before, so I'd say it's definitely worth it! Although, I would recommend AT THE VERY LEAST to play through the base XBC3 game first as there are some MAJOR spoilers for several important plot points in XBC3's story in there.

I think Monolith blew it out of the park with this one. Not that they don't usually but yeah, this is really special. From the story to the combat to the world, its like they took the best parts of every Xenoblade game and condensed it down into 25 hours of perfection. And to release it so quickly! I feel like they must be working on something very exciting (maybe for Nintendo's next console) and wanted to get this out ASAP, yet it doesn't feel at all rushed. Only time will tell really, but if this is the last new monolith title on the switch then what a way to go out. It's been an incredible 6 years and I can't wait to see what they make next. DLC is not a fair way of describing Future Redeemed (nor was it for Torna). It's made it even harder for me to choose between xc2 and 3 as my favourite in the series now.

At what point does Xenoblade 2 start picking up? I loved the original and Cross but Xenoblade 2 is just so hard to play through with the overly sexual designs, even by Japanese standards, the over the top anime tropes that were not present in the original, and the fetishistic blades that you collect. I really loved the first and Cross, and I want to love X2 as well.
@Sharpclawasaurus
@Sharpclawasaurus Жыл бұрын
@@backupschmliff1156 I'm not the person you asked, but I'll give my perspective anyways; I think there's a lot of fantastic stuff in XC2, it's just buried under a lot of mediocrity and bloat. Presentation wise, it's a huge step down from the previous games, and I totally agree with your comments on the character designs and tropes. It's often hard to take seriously, which is a huge shame considering the serious and more grounded tone was part of what made the first game so special. It does get slightly better the further you progress, but that's after dozens of hours. There is a lot of good in there, though. The combat starts to pick up in late chapter 3/early chapter 4, with elemental orbs and chain attacks. It's very interesting stuff, but horribly taught through the in-game tutorials so you'll have to do some googling to help you. The story is also mostly decent, it has some fun and likeable characters and really cool moments occasionally, but the stakes feel very low. There's some neat things near the end that you'll appreciate having finished the first game. The soundtrack is nothing but bangers, of course, but you can listen to that online if you'd like. So in short, if you can grit your teeth and put up with the perverted designs, awkward cutscenes and stilted storytelling for maybe 40 hours, you'll start to lean more towards a positive opinion on the game. But if that doesn't sound worth it to you, maybe consider moving straight to 3. It still doesn't quite reach the highs of XC1 in my opinion, but it's tonally and visually much closer than XC2 is. You should enjoy it from the beginning. Apologies for the thesis-length reply!

Before DLC we had Addons and Map Packs (at least for PC) and I think there is nothing wrong with that. What are not so cool are those micro DLCs that are way too expensive for what they offer. If you break down a game at full price, then an asset or a map are not more that an few cents or dollars of the whole package, but when they are DLC they suddenly cost 10$, 20$ or more. If the DLC is like Future Redeemed the price is more than justified. Together with the new heroes we got many hours of new content and I am okay with that.

They pretty much push us towards getting the DLC pass in every game now. It is impossible to get the extra game without getting the entire thing. And for good reason, even if little bits and pieces kinda suck(Elma Redux challenge in 2), it's on the whole genuinely good DLC that feels like it belongs in the basegame, but in a good way where the basegame itself does not feel incomplete without it.

Other comments mentioned these but one really big one is this: No matter what you do, do not play Future Redeemed before you play the rest of the series! Seriously. It is absolutely critical that you play Xenoblade 1 and 2 before playing these games. It's not just references. This game will mention things you won't understand and will just straight up spoil the first 2 games. It's a genuine love letter and conclusion to the series and it is perfect to me. I can’t bring myself to get it. I thought the first game was good, but I had some problems with it that no one seemed to really care about, and I hate everything the second game stands for. The third one blew my expectations out of the water and delivered on what’s probably my favorite story ever told in a video game. Then the dlc stuff come out and I see more conversation on all the dlc despite me hearing nothing about how good it is outside of the fan service. As someone who really like Xenoblade 3, this seems more catered to fans of the first few games, and I’m just sad that Xenoblade 3 has to be connected to this franchise. I’m afraid it’s going to go down in video game history as the crossover game rather than the masterclass of storytelling that made me like it so much.

I know everyone is hyped about the returning characters. But 3 is my favorite game. And what this dlc does for understanding what really happened with N and the original city was worth it to me. Things that didn't quite make sense before finally click into place. And while players are hyped to see the returning characters the Story is about what is happening now. It does the fan service but it keeps it about solving the current problem which I appreciated.

Xenoblade DLCs at this point have been more or less proven to be one of the better DLC investments, assuming of course you like the base game. A $30 price tag for what amounts to a 10 hour, fully fleshed out game is more than worth it in most cases nowadays. And, unlike some DLCs that can feel a bit unpolished, the DLC sections are generally speaking on par with the main game.

When we are as close as we are to TotK, I think a lot more people would be willing to jump onto this if it were a bonus for NSO Expansion Pack Members. Xenoblade might not be a series that'll push new subscriptions, but paid DLC for the game is a lot harder of a sell than it is for games like Mario Kart or Animal Crossing. It's clear the games they are choosing for the service are games they know will sell more memberships than it'll sell downloads. Where as the games that get paid DLC are games Nintendo knows they can't get a return on if they don't charge from fans that want it regardless. Don't take my word for it entirely, these are the kind of capitalistic choices you could have a wide range of different opinions on. I just think it's interesting they didn't put it on the Expansion Pack.

Note: I believe the Gauntlet came in DLC wave 3 instead of DLC wave 2. Anyway, I do think that, as far as the main game is concerned, XC2's DLC is a lot more impactful than XC3's. Even disregarding the free stuff added in XC2's NG+ Update (allowing for T-Elos and those in the Torna group to be summoned), XC2 added multiple other Blades - Crossette, Poppibuster, and Corvin, who each have very particular interactions and quirks involving themselves and the world around them. Additionally, through Challenge Mode, you could unlock the characters Shulk, Fiora, and Elma for use as well. XC3's DLC additions were extremely hindered by the strict limits of XC3's Hero system. As cool as "Inoswap" looks, it was nowhere near as deep or interesting as Poppiswap was. It's effectively just a skill tree that lets you unlock Ino's abilities over time. Poppiswap was a part system that could completely change the functions and capabilities of Poppi's various forms, allowing you to truly build Poppi any way you wanted. However, between Future Redeemed and Torna? I'd honestly go Future Redeemed. See, in the Torna campaign, it was annoying being gated by the community mechanics. It was like they knew the game was short and wanted to draw it out longer. However, Future Redeemed took a very alternative approach. Instead of trying to stretch out its short duration, it used its short duration as almost an advantage, with its Affinity mechanics incentivizing 100% completion to max out your characters.

Spoiler Regarding a Side Quest: The quest when you fight Shulk and Rex is just so good especially if you're not overleveled and undergeared on Glimmer and Nikol, during that time my Nikol and Glimmer is 1 Gem slot 1 Accessory slot and barely finished half of the 2nd affinity since I'm focusing on Powering up my DPS, Shulk and A and boy oh boy that fight is TOUGH!!! Playing on Hard Mode btw At the start of the battle Rex will immediately use Infinity Blade and it will 1 shot Glimmer if Nikol didn't get the aggro... It's just pure Bliss.

I fortunately put a lot of Affinity into Nikol because Xenoblade Tanks have a track record of being just...not good. So I wanted him to be actually capable compared to the rest. When I got to that fight, I realized how galaxy-brained that decision was.

I really enjoyed the expansion but I think they jumped the gun releasing it so early. The balance between the characters is so hilariously imbalanced with how rex is basically the only way of beating the super bosses. I mean shulk and nikol can hold aggro to save their life. I ended up with just farming memory lockets so they can all revive rex when he inevitably goes down

Rex and Matthew are the only DPS... Rex as the Master Driver being insanely powerful just makes sense... And is a really good Fan-Service... The issue is that Rex isn't too powerful but how under-tuned the other characters are especially both Tanks... Imho Shulk should've have more better passive skills since alot of his kit are kinda underwhelming, a more Evasion Tank Focused tank will fit him since he's taking the mantle of Dunban...

@@vivid8979 the fact Shulk has 2 useless spike damage skills and none of his arts have increased aggro gain are the biggest issue swith him. Eventually I just gave him the fraternal badge (because he and Nikol are ever going to hold aggro for long, if ever) and the break brooch so he can become a secondary breaker.

Two things to say: 1. I wholeheartedly welcome this new series: DLC as a whole should be explored more in gaming. 2. This DLC sounds amazing, but given Tears of the Kingdom is coming out, and I already have a full backlog, I may end up skipping this

For what it's worth-and this is addressed to anyone reading-Future Redeemed runs most players 15-25 hours, which may be doable before the official release of Tears of the Kingdom. May be a good way to pass the time, even. In case someone wonders if they would be cutting it close, I would say there's room enough to go at one's own pace.

I can relate to the question got after having the trailer After whatching the video. I only have one complain about Xenoblade 3 futur redemed. Unlike futur conected who was in the same game and Torna who get a physical realized (999$ on e bay I know) FR will remain a dlc. It's a shame for a preservation of the video game and the franchise. When the Switch e shop will be closed no way to play it outside émulation if you loose your consol. I don't have finish fr but imagin if it drop lore usefull for understand the next Xeno serie game. Or even connections to gears (okay outside copyright issue) saga and X. Would poeple only be able to go on KZbin for findind this lore. I take Xenoblade 3 but it's also the case for over franchise. Fire emblem fate for exemple. Bye bye révélation...

I kind of hate Future Redeem BECAUSE it's a DLC. I sunk 20hrs into beating it and felt that there was so much more it could have had as a stand alone. It was full of fan service but could have explained more story important details like, what happened with the rest of Rex and Shulk's friends, and how they came to fight with Z. There had to be a time when Ontos betrayed them. things like that. The Xenoblade 3 world is so interesting and I feel like there is still much more story they could easily make about it I also had a hard time getting attached to the new cast with how short the story is.

Shulks friends souls are within lucky 7. Rexs friends got absorbed into Aionios's flow. Both groups are alive and well after the origin reboot. As are Shulk and Rex themselves as promised. They fought with Z as a temporary ceasefire to deal with Alpha. Ontos went insane and became Alpha because Malos and Mythras' cores weren't feeding him data anymore, and without them, he's just a robot. Alpha and A broke apart because of Ghondors intervention. Some of this just calls for paying close attention and critical thinking, other things are in side content, which does have lore important information. Giving every answer in painstaking detail isn't this series MO.

@@TheSpaceking12 Any game that puts important story info into skippable side quests has poor story telling. I rather see a cool thing instead of reading a text box that say "yeah... so this thing happened... yeah, pretty big deal... yeah". There's so much more they could have added to this if it was a full length game. It would also give more time for the new cast to develop. It was an alright DLC but I'd say Torna was a much better written prequel than this one.

@MitchMAH

@@TheSpaceking12 poor story telling. Side quests are not where the main story should go. That's what the main story is for. That's comparable to saying Final Fantasy 15 has an amazing story because you have to watch the movie, the anime, and research some of the cancelled Versus 13 promo's to fully understand that story. It's not laziness. It's very common for people to skip side quests in a game. Important story elements should not be in there without also being in the main.
