Abulzz has released a little sample of road surface, specifically sector 2, with no 3d objects or landscape so people can get a taste of what the driving experience is gonna be like. Eventually there will be different LOD's for the lidar, so the road surface and nearby ground will have the highest accuracy, while the rest of Palermo can be visible without eating everyone's PC.
I knew it was gonna be bumpy, but was not ready for how narrow it is. I suppose it's perfect for little Italian cars.

I mean, I like my accuracy in general, and am often one of those who gets frustrated with arcade-sim racing games making street circuits substantially wider than they really would be, but there is a practical limit. This almost feels a bit absurd, and I have kind of a hard time imagining a car like the Alfa Romeo 33/TT/12, which won in 1975, going around here. Heck, the Ferrari 330 P4 wasn't exactly a tiny car in 1967 as it was. So it seems like it would make sense to keep a wider road option. I also just have some questions in light of period footage I've seen.

It's modern lidar of the circuit, which definitely creates an issue about historical accuracy. The real life Targa Florio is falling apart and has degraded into the state you see here. Abulzz and Beni acknowledge that the track will have to be smoothed out in many places to emulate it's condition in 1973, especially considering that major sections of the track were freshly paved right before the race. And as far as width goes, Vic Elford said that at one point he got stuck behind a GT 40 for multiple kilometers because there was literally no room to get around it.

@@Someguy1785 The Vic Elford bit sounds like something from a clip in the Porsche episode of Victory by Design and/or from "The Speed Merchants". I certainly don't discount it, but that seems like something to do at least as much with just how sinuous the roads are for much of the lap, especially once you get into the switchback sections and things.

@@robdv It's still gotta be reasonably driveable, particularly in cars that actually won the race in real life. And no, I'm not even talking about being able to race other cars on this course like you would on more "normal" circuits.
