Being new to Sim racing I assumed I was just rubbish, had the wrong lines, wasn't braking right etc. etc.. I was hitting 1.05~6s on this race every time with the stock set-up and was way off the pace. Can't tell you how reassuring it was to hear you were getting the same! I used the set up you gave here and went straight to 2nd place averaging a second quicker per lap on the first attempt. Thank you so much for this, now I have some validation that I can actually drive!

Im playing on dualsense controller and my best was 1.03 with stock settings, but the most common were 1.05-6s too. I thought I sucked at this game XD but i see im not the only one. Ill try these new settings.

I'm brand new to sim racing and I'm having trouble beating this race even on beginner difficulty. Thank you for making this video and showing your inputs too. Getting used to turning is still hard for me so it's good to see someone who is good at the game do it and see how they use the pedals. :D

You're a legend. I'm new to any kind of sim racing, got my T150 but that's all I got. Car setups are completely new to me and this video showed me how they important they are. With default settings I've stuggled to remain in 4th place and I seriously thought that my racing abilites are close to horrendous, but with your setup I've managed to finish 2nd and then 1st on a second try. Easily!

This is crazy I never thought to change the setup lol. Especially since this is a novice challenge. I can get second place pretty consistently with the stock setup. Glad I'm not the only one that's struggled with this. Thanks for the info. I will give this setup a try

Rock solid explanation. Got a 2nd place position on gamepad. I think the big thing is maintaining traction by letting off the throttle on the hairpins.

I've been letting off the throttle at hairpins but it's still hard for me to turn since I'm new to simracing. Do you have any other tips to maintain/regain traction/grip? The brake helps but it feels like it's halfway working against me.

@@chaocobojun2098 what helps me is understanding that tire grip is a shared resource. When you brake, the grip is utilized to slow the vehicle down. The same can be said for turning and accelerating. In a tight turn, most of your grip should be utilized on the vehicle coasting through the turn. You should ideally be pointing straight and hitting the throttle out of a turn. To maximize cornering, you must balance turning, acceleration, and braking as a shared resource on your tire grip. I recommend reading Beyond The Apex. It's a gran turismo handbook that teaches you the fundamentals of racing. It describes tire grip in detail, as well as how other factors like suspension and aero can affect your cornering performance. Happy racing ✌️

So I picked up a G25 for a massive bargain at a pawn shop, decided i want to play a very difficult racing simulator. Picked up Assetto Corsa and this race really brought my spirits down. After struggling for a while, being brand new to the game I set up my car according to your setup and came second, landing a 1:07 track time. I finished it on 80% though, i just wanted to progress further. But thanks so much! Now I dont feel as bad lol.

Also new to sim racing but I got into it because I had a VR headset and just like doing the practice laps when I had a gamepad. Got a inexpensive racing wheel (TMX) and now searching for tutorials on how to drive. This was really helpful!

I got 3rt place with stock car, I were using T150( I used another pedals with clutch) and and H-form shister, the gap between me and 1st was about 2.600 S, I think next time I'll do it bc it had only practised like an hour. I wanted to keep making videos, but my sim wheel broke, and since I've been in busy with school (and poor) I haven't had the time or money to buy a new sim racing rig. Hopefully in another year or two I will graduate and get a job that I can afford to get back into this hobby with.

I find that I get a way better launch with traction control off, launch at 4500rpm, mash throttle up to ~32mph and shift to 2nd. Your tip about counting and jumping the gun slightly was so helpful. Also watching your inputs, I realized I rarely needed 100% brake input for corners (I had been doing this for more than half of corners.) Saw that you used much less brake than me and were coasting through the corners. Set up the fuel with 3 liters as well, I had been leaving it at the default which was probably slowing me down a ton. Went from not being able to get higher than 3rd/4th to finishing 1st. Best lap 103.8.

THX for the Vid. I came driving slowly up from NFS to Forza Horizon to Motorsport, F1, Project Cars etc. So I ramped up from the Arcade Side to AC now. I thought I start with the Career-Mode with not touching the settings and come so into the game and got badly crushed. I wondered why and Best result was 6 :-(. Happily I found your Vid and I see that this part (or the full ?) career mode is broke. I mean, so called "Alien" Setting for the first drive in career mode ? C'mon. But again -THX to your vid I restored faith in AC and will make accordingly setups. BTW: Did u beat the race first without pushing the first from his line ? I have the feeling a bit more and it should be possible. Anyway....greetings from Vienna and happy driving ;)

Yeah same. I think it's definitely "broken" from a game point of view, but I think it's also not in the same way that computers playing chess aren't really broken. The best chess players in the world can't beat a computer, but playing against the computer they can't beat makes them better chess players. Because this is a simulator, and they wanted to target people of all driving skill levels, they made 100% difficulty literally 100% difficult, that way they can challenge the best drivers in the world and make them chase a time that's technically possible even if it's not physically possible. If you just want gold medals, then drop it down to 95% or 90% difficulty and just enjoy your time. If you want to be the best driver you can, play at 100% until you come in the top three for every race. It is annoying though as a newcomer to experience that, and the game definitely has flaws in other ways, but that's kind of what I think the developers were thinking when they designed it this way. And no, I never beat the race without jumping the launch.

To be fair, you don't need to win the N1 races to get to the next level, there are 3 time trials and they are really easy to get gold.

So I have a legit theory on this: After this video I tried for about another 2 weeks on the second race and could not beat the damn bmw. He is just literally faster than you and that course has a huge straight. When I last researched it, there was only one video of anyone actually recording themselves beating it, and I honestly think it was faked because of how much faster he is than the BMW. And like, physics doesn't work like that. You're car is slower. Period. Also the guy never explains how he did it. He just says git gud and stuff, which is sus . So I actually believe that the career mode on 100% is designed to give you a realistic experience of racing in a series irl. You're not going to come in first in every race. Sometimes there's just a car that's faster than you, and there's nothing you can really do about it. So the designers want to give you that feeling early on. So after posting this video I decided to just set the difficulty to 100 but just do my best, and so long as I came in third or higher I'd let myself move on, but even that still required me getting better as a driver and practicing each race a bunch of times. But that let me balance the challenge with the fun, yah know?

@@wanderingasgardian yeah its not designed to win every race. Thats why they say you need 1 gold 2 silver or whatever, not 5 golds. Also some races give gold for coming 2nd.

Starting again from the bottom is a nice break. Thanks for the tip about the BMW in that second race, I had noticed he was quite a lot faster in the one attempt I've made on that track.

Idk what too tell ya. You can try investing in better hardware to get better feed back but honestly, games like this are just about finding the best line and getting good. There's no up down left right b a b a select start for racing sims :/ Also, I remember hearing that there was some world championship sim racing esport thing going on, and something happened with one of the guys $10,000 sim cockpit and it wasn't working, so he jumped on a logitech g29 he had sitting next to him and WON the race. Sooooooo

I'm not sure but I would assume its something to do with your driver settings for you wheel. Open up the logitech driver program thingy and make sure the range thingy is set to 900 degrees. Other than that I would suggest you watch a few videos on "setting up" a g27. there are may good ones out there that can help you.

Slow cars are all about keeping momentum as high as possible. its a different type of driving vs when you have a powerful engine to launch you back to top speed at a seconds notice.

Sorry but they have been lost to time. I've reinstalled windows on this computer and don't even have AC installed anymore since I have been playing iRacing. If I loaded it up it would just show whatever the default settings are. This is really personal preference anyway, but there are some videos out there showing like "best setup for ___ wheel in ___ game" so I would suggest you look into those videos to get started and then just tweak what you need to once you learn more about it.

je suis a la manette. ce n'est pas la meme chose! ma voiture couine dans tout les virages et perd de la vitesse malgré que je reste en acceleration, rien qu au démarrage l ia me met 10 mètre dans la vue. bref a la manette ce jeux est une grosse bouze. heureusement qu il n'est pas chere car mettre 500 euros dans le volant,frein a main et pédalier. j ai pas la place. et c paradoxale . prix jeux/ prix matos .
