You can tell that the physics are just right even by watching a clip. I recall playing competizione and was amazed by how the cars actually felt like they were physically present on the track and not just floating around.

I will say the drift physics need some work tbh, when you slide out the speed reduces drastically

Try Le Mans Ultimate. That's the best sim at the moment in my opinion and tou feel really connected with the car and tires.

You can tell its early access from the lack of features, but unlike most early access titles. This one has such a strong foundation. I get 60 fps all max at 4k settings I haven't found any real bugs. I just cant get the camera controls to work properly. Overall im impressed. The game started with 5 cars from a bug and they fixed it within the day

It just goes to show you don't really need Unreal Engine to get very good graphics. The Euro and American Truck simulator games are another good example.

Unreal 5 is genuinely such an overrated engine, it wouldn't be able to do a game like this

Unreal is still a good engine, and if implemented properly, it looks amazing, and it's easier to get support for a more widely-used game engine than a highly specialized one. It could do a game like this, but it'd need a lot of behind-the-scenes work because of the complexity. I just was saying that it's nice that there are alternatives like this and other game engines out there.

I have always had an idea for an open world overworld to allow you to build your race car and then shake it down and fine tune it in the open world on the way to the track since gran turismo 5 came out when I was a kid and it looks like this is gonna be the closest thing to that and I am so hyped

Two features I'd love to see that are missing from the old game is the ability to choose your transmission without being locked to the original one in the car and the ability to do custom paint. I know the transmission thing is not super realistic (though transmission swaps are a thing), but it's nice to be able to drive based on how you're feeling without being limited to a certain car. Like if my back is hurting, so I don't want to use the clutch and shifter, but still want to drive a first-generation Dodge Viper for fun. Those who don't want that could always just select the original transmission that is displayed with the car. Also, you can paint and wrap cars, so adding that wouldn't really detract from the realism.

i have some fast grip setups for the drift supra on nur , years of testing and thats what i came for, it would be so cool to share that as a used vehicle , same with vanilla cars, i tend to make drift setups of not so comon cars , like the masserati quattro the cayenne, people over the years got impressed seing strange cars drifting
