What made you go "wow" about Assetto Corsa and will you go to ac2?
@Antidepressiva1980

The mods made me "wow" and i will be sticking to AC1 as long as Shutoko isn't ported to AC2 . I would be tempted to play AC2 only for a revisited Nordschleife Scan track. Otherwise i have enough mod tracks in AC1 to keep me interested for many years like LAC, Union Island, Shutoko and some nice touge tracks.

For a G923 user, the FFB made it possible to drive intuitively on a level no other sim provided the same feeling. You can pickup any car and track you've never driven before in the sim and quickly find the limit, adjust and play around. On other sims I feel like I'm guessing where the limit is, trying to go from visual cues. IMHO AC still looks great, very clean and objective without fancy effects on top, good camera adjustments etc.

Given the interview one of the co-founders of Kunos gave recently about why they went back to their AC engine and to improve it (instead of using Unreal again like they did with ACC). You'd expect AC2 to have modding support. He said they are very aware they can't just slap out a half-arsed sequel and call it a day, given what the community has done with modding to the original game.

I would like to see Kunos reaching out to prominent mod makers to ask them what they want out of an AC2 with regard to engine capability and tools. An ongoing, publicly visible dialogue would do wonders for drumming up enthusiasm for the next iteration. For me the original rFactor set the stage for AC when it came to having a sim with a wealth of mods, then rF2 came along and largely failed to repeat that success. Hopefully Kunos understand that their sales numbers will drastically increase if they do everything they can to foster a healthy modding community.

AC2 is definitely exciting. There is quite a lot of room for improvement from the release of AC, but modding has taken care of almost all of that. To be honest though, the ONLY feature that matters for me personally is modding. Almost every problem in AC can be solved with mods. However, nothing will be able to fix the lack of modding, if that is the decision that they make. In that case, I would just stick with AC.

the biggest problems with ac1 for me would be the 1 point tyre model which makes curbs death traps, the iffy multiplayer system and the really bad ai/ai race options, if those could get fixed but keep the modding community ac2 would be a literal dream sim

I totally understand, and agree with all of your points as they are warranted. Personally though, I only drift in AC, or any driving in general. Racing just never really interested me, but something about flying sideways at a wall going 120+kmh while being able to stay in control just gets me jazzed. But yeah, curbs don't really come into play very much for us, since we are always supposed to stay off of them. However, walls on the other hand are a nightmare in AC. Drift cars IRL have bumpers made from light weight material that can crumble and are supported by a bash bar so that if we scrape the wall a little bit, it doesn't completely change the behavior of the car while sideways. In AC however, touching any wall even a little bit will result in certain death 99% of the time. And as far as tyres go, I don't think anyone would ever complain about having a more thoroughly developed base tyre model, regardless of how they drive. :) Anyway, I'm hopeful that they will include the option for modding with AC2, and hopefully also expand on it as well as fixing other physics with external surfaces like curbs and walls, as they know full well of the community of modders that are keeping the game alive all these years later. Then everyone will be able to be happy together, no matter what genre of motorsport you prefer. :)

i personally just hope assetto corsa 2 comes with less of a need to be modded, while still being moddable. my fav example of that is the process of finding good people to drive with online. ac1 on playstation has a lobby where you drive the standard jdm pack cars on the nordschleife, 2 laps. and that can yield some interesting races among those who don't crash the first corners. but on pc the nordschleife lobbies are all just trackday which invites the chaos and can often be boring. you have to download more jdm mods and engage in those communities in order to find good people to race with and that just sucks to me. i haven't got a lot of time for online gaming communities. i just wanna hop into the game and end up in an intense braking battle with people of a comparable skill-level. also all that stuff about night drive, rain, maybe even snow.. that should have never been a mod. it's important for all the people who see driving as an atmospheric activity and not just as a free trackday. mods can be put on top of that but they shouldn't get in the way. for example if i don't have car xy as a mod on my computer, i should still be able to hop into a lobby where someone else has that car. then i could keep my computer clean from all the 1000000 mods but still hang with people who want to use them

as long as ac2 has modding support like ac has, and ac1 mods can reasonably easily be brought to ac2 without having to start from scratch, then ac2 will have a very long life and be another revolution in sim racing/driving/cruising/drifting/exploring/(flying?) the main thing i want from ac2 would be an in-game mod repository like beamNG. keeping up with ac mods and keeping them updated is damn near a full time job, and isnt even worth it 99% of the time. seriously, the vast majority of the tracks i have i will probably never drive again after i downloaded it and tried it once. ALL mods need to be in one place and update automatically.

I hope AC2 will also be the icon for future "simiing". It's not an easy task and I wouldn't be surprised if I knew that Konus has been working on it for years already. If not, then Rennsport is sharpeneing its clutches and canines preparing to be the next big thing (or is it AMS2 already?) . What made me go wow about Assetto Corsa was practising with and Elise around Magione and having flashbacks to the F1600 around the netKar-Pro test track, and remembering the most realistic and involved sim of it's day. Assetto Corsa continued that, and was then replaced by ACC. AC2 will always be a day one purchase for me, but really, I'm not that interested in mods at all. CSP is great with all the eye candy it brings, but textures and assets haven't been updated on tracks and they now look very dated. The game is no where as good looking as ACC. I hope AC2 is the most realistic driving and racing simulator ever when it's released, anything beyond that, including mod support, is just a bonus for me. In fact, bring back interactive cockpits before mods.

Assetto Corsa " Vanilla" without Content Manager and mods is already nice, but it really shines with mods and I realized that only last year. It will take time for AC2 to acheive the same level of diversity. I'm also excited to see what Rennsport has to offer! For now, everything I tried (Raceroom, Pcars, Rfactor...) is always missing something (or expensive for iRacing) so I almost play only two games : AC and Dirt 2.0 I wish they can add kerb information for the bass shaker and a better laptime system for hotlaps but that's it! I don't want better graphics; ACC for instance looks worse for me because its VR performance is terrible even with the most powerful GPUs so you have to lower the resolution or the distance.

Mister random callsign. Perhaps it would be a great idea to make a video about how to find a good active leagues on assetto corsa. Given the playerbase there should be a lot of great leagues but for me it's really hard to find. I use SRS at this moment and really like it but i'm also searching for a league (with voice chat) to join. Love the content, hope you can help!

Ideally AC2 would implement a decent single player as well as online career mode combined with earning credits and licences. I want a reason to race other than just being able to win a race. The single player career mode should be similar to Gran Turismo, but well made.

I say it since I started Assetto Corsa 2017. If Kunos let a small team creat more dlc for AC they still could easy milk the cow. And people would be glad to spend money for this. Hell actually Kunos just needed to buy the Rights from Manufacturas. And buy cars from Moders. Started Stalker Gamma few days ago. Same Story like AC. So good that I doubt that stalker 2 will can keep up.

AC is a platform, not a game. I can't even remember the last time I drove a Kunos car. If AC2 comes out and from day 1, modders are having no issue porting their mods, and if traffic is easier to implement, people will migrate. If not, AC1 ain't going anywhere

While probably not possibly I think the best thing they could do is build the next AC to be backwards compatible with current AC content. Maybe with a compatibility layer or auto conversion that attempts to translate the new physics to the old models/data so that on release all teh content we've come to expect and love from AC is right there with brand new physics and features. For me the reason I'm excited for a second AC and what I would immediately jump to it boils down to physics mostly. An improved tire model (the move to 3 point from AC's single point) and better tire physics and features like flat spotting would really help. Right now you can abuse the tires in AC more then alot of other sims and get away with it, I'd like to see a much better tire model. Some other things would be having the game built better for mod support. Have the game built to support large maps natively without issue, unlike current AC's limitations with the cars vibrating far from spawn (Mitigated with CSP but still there) maybe improvements to the engine that let map makers create higher detail maps without the same performance cost AC has so we can get better tracks and free roams, with better detail and overall just building the game with ease for modders in mind.

Success for Kunos is not in the number of players, it is in the revenue. I would be really suprised in they are as flexible with the mods in AC2. I am thinking at Rf2 where you have the official content, or as well the unofficial free version sometimes.

All Assetto Corsa lacks is a ranking system like iracing and acc have. a bit more cohesion with the overall package and presentation like acc had. a fun carreer mode would be an extra or a plus for newcomers into this genre. GT licenses or GTR2 race school. ofc these are an afterthought compared to performance optimization, graphics, physics, FFB and online structure.
@TheGabe92
@TheGabe92 2 жыл бұрын
I think it would be OK for AC2 to focus more on the free driving experience (drive anything anywhere) and mods than the ranking aspect. Mods and ranked racing do not mesh well anyway. I say ACC for ranked racing and GT shit, AC/AC2 for mods and total freedom. Sure better presentation and physics will come, too. I'd actually prefer a GT like licence test over a traditional career mode by far.

Love AC. Lake Louise and LA Canyons alone are worthy of tens (in my case hundreds lol) of hours of cruising and enjoying the sights. Content manager, Sol and CSP add another layer yet again. AC2 would be a shadow of the game it could be if mod support is enabled. I still buy DLC content because I like the consistency and knowing the level of standard is there. I have some amazing mods like the Hoonicorn that aren't quite accurate or as polished but still buckets of fun but official content is a good level of polish. Honestly dreaming of this game in UE5. I love to make cinematic content and AC has many limitations in that regard.

i think we can map asseto corsa to cs 1.6 and asseto corsa 2 to csgo. people will still play the first ac filled with mods, and there's a chance that ac2 is clossed off and that will atract a different playerbase. but something is true, there be no game like ac, and if anyone tries to make a new, better, improved one, it won't have the taste and feeling and nostalgia of ac. so for that reason alone, ac2 will attract a different set of people, some will join, and some will stay at ac.

i think they especially need to put work into their "game launcher" in terms of functionality and UI. without CM this game would have died out long ago. i want a great in-game menu where i can manage my mods, host lobbies and invite my friends. if it then had a slightly upgraded engine, decent base amount of content and moddability it would be an easy buy. if it fails in any of these points ill be sticking to the first title.
