In this video tutorial I show you the steps to follow if you want to invert the steering wheel from right to left or vice versa.
Reversing the steering wheel from right to left is something I've wanted to do for a long time on certain vehicles, and I've never found any tutorials for it. So, I spent time figuring out how everything works, and now I'm sharing my knowledge with you

If you don't see “Unpack LOD KN5”, the developer mod is not activated. Sir Spats Gaming has made a very simple video to explain how to activate it, just search for content manager developer mod and it should be in the first recommendations.

Thank you very much!!!!. I restarted my car editing almost 20 times, and didn´t understand why my simetrized meshes showed transparent on kseditor. Checked again and again face orientation and were all ok. This 21th time didn´t miss the aply scale step 😅 and voiláaaaa magic was made!!! Amazing tutorial, every steps said in it are important, no one more, no one less!!!

hey man, great video, i wasn't able to follow the blender part bc my model wasn't liking the mirroring, everything mirrored would become shiny on kseditor for some reason, so i had to copy the interior into another blender, do the mirror there and export as fbx. then import fbx into the main window, jus ta bit more complicated than in the video but most likely just a specific car issue, regardless it worked well! the camera was annoying until i saw you vid and it's a one click fix, also the flip normals part was really well explained

you need to activate the developer mod and probably have the full version of CM (not sure) do a search and there's a video explaining how to do it. I'll add a message to clarify it to others who have the same problem

Why do we need to mirror the entire car rather than just the interior? Wouldn't it be easier to just mirror the pedals, steering wheel, dash etc?

Hi I had tried doing that initially, but I encountered too many issues. The dashboard also needs to be mirrored, but if the car isn't perfectly symmetrical, it creates gaps and joint problems. The doors might not be perfectly symmetrical either, and the driver may have certain controls that the passenger doesn't. I found it much simpler to mirror the entire car and then adjust some details inside, but you can do it however you prefer

@@chopsuey4698 thanks for the quick reply. Main reason I ask is some exterior meshes on the doors of the car I'm working on get warped and distorted once I use scale on them before flipping. So I started trying to mirror the interior instead. Thanks for the great tutorial, there's nothing else like it that I can find anywhere online.

@@mariboustate4707 If you have problems after using scale, it's probably because it hasn't been applied. After each change to the scale you need to apply it, ctrl+A > apply scale. Glad the tutorial helped

Hi, Look at what I'm doing starting at 6:15, The model of your rims may not be the same, but if they're not visible in the assetto corsa engine, it's a question of face orientation.

Hey man, should I un-mirror the headlight, taillight, and the turn signal? Or do I only have to unmirror the turn signal? You dont mention turn signal but you unmirrored the turn signal in the dash so i got confused

Hey, I think we do need to un-mirror the turn signals. For the lights, it's less important since there's no difference between left and right. I forgot to do it because, for me, it's a minor detail. I always play in VR, so it's mainly the interior view that I want to modify correctly.

@@chopsuey4698 I think it's safer to un-mirror all of the exterior lights incase the the headlight and taillight also functions like turn signals on american cars. Thank you for the clarification. Btw, you dont need the full version of CM to be able to extract LOD, you just need the FBX plugin, then you're good to go.

@@alvanprathama375 I don't think I've ever had this problem. Try importing the unmodified fbx you get with unpack LOD KN5. If it works, then there's a problem with your blender fbx export.

(I'm very new to Blender so apologies in advance if I've missed something basic in the software) I'm attempting to switch from an rhd to lhd Mazda MX-5, and performed the mirroring. I haven't swapped around anything (wheels, etc.) or realigned anything yet, I wanted to first see if the mirroring had worked. (I have links to two pictures showing the difference in the cars but KZbin apparently won't allow me to post those links) The original, rhd car has a smooth surface across the top of the trunk/bonnet. However, the same part of the mirrored lhd car has a series of about 20 rectangular surfaces across the length of the top, instead of one smooth surface. I don't know why this happens, and it seems like exporting the FBX file for importing into the KS Editor, then saving that as the KN5 file works without any warning errors. I don't really want to continue on the project unless I can get that fixed, so any help will be greatly appreciated. 🙏

btw If anyone is wanting to add stuff to their model you have to make sure it has a material assigned to it or it will give you an error.

At 3:25 you've turned off the face orientation, and then the car changes from that gray color to an image that shows the details of the interior and gauges in particular. You say you switched to render mode but it wasn't clear to me how you did that, so that the gauges were shown in all their detail, including their arrows, etc. Can you explain how you got to that point?

I simply clicked on the small button in the top right corner of the viewport shading options to visualize the materials using the Eevee rendering mode. It was useful here for the dashboard and license plates, but on some FBX files, the materials are poorly configured. For example, some may have transparency enabled or use the wrong texture. To adjust all of this, you need some knowledge of using materials in Blender. For instance, to modify transparency, select one of the objects you want to modify and go to the material properties on the right, then in the "settings" section, choose "opaque" for the blend mode. The goal is not to achieve a perfect render of your car in Blender, but just to better visualize certain elements.

Hi, fbx were not created for blender and there are compatibility problems for materials. It's possible to repair each material but this can take time and requires some knowledge of blender shaders. the problem of transparent textures comes from one of the misconfigured options in the material. select one of the objects you want to modify and go to the material properties on the right, then in the "settings" section, choose "opaque" for the blend mode. If the material becomes visible but the texture isn't right, you'll need to modify it in the shader editor. As for the problem with 3Ds max, I think it's the same kind of problem concerning the oriantation of faces that I explain in the video. I don't use 3ds max so I can't help much more, but there must be a way of visualizing the orientation and reversing it in much the same way as I show it with blender.

dont worry, I ended up deleting them, they were just duplicate objects with the cockput texture on them but they were really low resolution and were showing in the showroom.@@chopsuey4698

Hi, when I try to import the FBX, the kseditor just crashes - I've merged vertices by distance to compile sizing, but it refuses to open. Doesnt go into the error log either so I'm literally lost for ideas. All normals have been set, and I literally copied step by step.

Hi, have you tried importing the FBX you obtained by doing "unpack lod kn5" without any modification? If this works, then it's very likely that there was an error when you exported the FBX you modified.

@@chopsuey4698 I have and that works - I've also tried saving the fbx under a new name and it loads fine (of course without any textures) but when it's named 'model' like the original, it doesn't seem to like it. No crash logs either, it just closes.

I was hoping you might be able to help me. Everything's working great. However when I apply the scale, the car becomes "blocky" adding triangles. Almost like the mesh is messed up. In Ks editor it appears the same ( messed up).

@@chopsuey4698 I'm very thankful your attempting to help me, no need to apologize. I open blender, import OG fbx, select all, object mirror, select mesh, apply scale. Then is gets wonky. If I apply the scale without the mirror like you mentioned above, it stays the same looks good. But the car remains right hand drive. If I apply the scale before the mirror, my normals aren't reversed ( stay blue ). And it doesn't appear at all in Kseditor.

@@nightpanda7773 I've just tested this car and I've got the unpack lod kn5. my idea is that maybe this function is only available with the full version of content manager. To get the full version, all you have to do is make a small donation at free price on the content manager download page.

It's normal that it doesn't work well with different models. If it's a real problem and you really need to visualize the textures, like for the dashboard, you'll have to modify the materials. For that, you'll need some knowledge of 3D engines and blender

Hi this is probably a problem with the fbx export, make sure that the export properties in blender are the same as in the video, especially fbx unit scale.

I did, but I tried it again, and it still does the same thing. God, I have worked tirelessly on this thing. I got a really good sound mod for the s2k if u want it. Man, I just wish I could get this to work.

when you check the box "driver" it does not appear in the car? Can you see the driver in the other cars? Have you activated the custom shaders patch in a recent and stable version? Where are the textures not good? Does everything work fine in the ks editor when you import your fbx?

@@chopsuey4698 Yes, I tried Kunos car, and another mods car works fine. My csp 0.1.80, When I import it to kn editor everything looks flat, with all the glass material turning grey. Don't worry about the glass Ive already fixed it. Thank you for responding.

​@@bandit9six Is the driver visible in the unmodified version of this car? What happens if you launch the game, is the driver there? Did you export the fbx by selecting fbx unit scale?

@@bandit9six One more thing I'm thinking of, make sure that the name of the exported FBX file you imported into the KS editor matches the original name of the FBX. In any case, there seems to be a connection issue with the FBX. I suggest you perform some simple tests, perhaps on another car without modifying it in Blender. Start by unpacking the LOD KN5 and open the KS editor to import the FBX. If everything works fine, then import the FBX into Blender without making any changes and export it, replacing the first one with exactly the same parameters shown in the video. Then import it back into the KS editor. This might help isolate the problem and provide more clarity.

​@@chopsuey4698 I fixed the texture problem by changing the value of ksAmbient, ksDiffiuse, etc., and add txNormal txMaps txDetail. The driver still has no luck, It works fine when i launch the game, the driver is appears on game. I tried switching it back to the original kn5, but it still not showing on CM showroom.
