can't the tag bits be calculated by the formula (main memory address bits-word bits)?

+neelaksh sharma yes: Main Memory bits-Set Bits - offset in case of set associative mapping. I have solved them many example questions (uploaded as videos) in posted video sessions in the same playlist. You might found them to be useful...
