I’m still using the 10W, but I absolutely agree with you on Cedar. My absolute favorite to laser. Makes great boxes, earrings, really anything and great smell to it. Another great video from the Clack Shack.

Thanks. I mill my cedar thin for small projects with the laser.

I have a box of t&g 6.5 mm cedar from a chest I made years ago. Perfect for the laser. Cuts really well.

Thanks for all your information as always great videos but there's one question I'd like to ask is how long do your lenz covers last? I used my 20w for 3 hours and it was stuffed. Not good at all..
@TheClackShack2 жыл бұрын
My 20 watt is my first experience with the lens. My old 10 didn't have one, So far, mine has lasted with extreme usage.

what are your settings for engraving a bamboo cutting board with a d1 10w?
@TheClackShack10 ай бұрын
I recommend running power tests, you will probably be around 80mm/s @ 100.

Great video but what about CLEAR Cast acrylic. That's all I am trying to do but cannot seem to get it down and 5 passes I mean that could be hours for one piece of acrylic does not seem cost-effective for a 6" x 6" piece of acrylic. Also for your 3mm Acrylic did you move the laser head down with the right nob adjuster or keep it at 0 Thanks for any help.
@TheClackShack2 жыл бұрын
Clear acrylic is beyond the capabilities of a blue diode laser. It allows the light to pass through. You can paint it and etch slightly but not cut. A CO2 can cut clear.

Got your Jig Downloads and they worked great... however, I'm having trouble finding a suitable plywood for the jigs which won't warp. Any suggestions?
@TheClackShack2 жыл бұрын
The thicker the better, I use 4.5 mm plywood and it works good.

Hi thanks for the video! Which squaring jig do you have? Can you give me a quick run down of how to your laser, honeycomb bed and squaring jig are anchored to the table? Thanks!

You can search the videos, I have multiple videos on my design and use of my jigs and holders. I attach everything with screws.

Hi clack, just a question, was that on Laserbox or Lightburn?
@TheClackShack2 жыл бұрын
Lightburn. I run lightburn for everything except tumblers. I have been happy with laserbox basic for rotary stuff. I design the burn in lightburn and export over to laserbox basic.

If using 10 watt what is your settings Also on your 10 watt the lens has to be unscrewed and lens cleaned as well as lens cap. I learned the hard way and now have to buy the module. I am working with xtool on replacement. Maybe a short viedo would be great. Your other one i dont believe you showed taking the unit apart. The part can not be bought. Have to get whole module. Thank you

Mine didn't come with the lens cover. It was one of the first ones made, I guess that's why. I have ran it a lot more than most people since November of 2021 and have never cleaned inside it.

Would you share your material settings list for the D1 10 watt?
@TheClackShack2 жыл бұрын
Most of them are in my head, I would have to write them down. I usually share any that are used in the videos.

I've been looking at the 10 watt version. I am having a hard time finding a reliable answer to cutting mdf. In your experience, what speed will the 10 watt laser cut 1/4" mdf?
@TheClackShack2 жыл бұрын
I cut 1/4 inch plywood but never tried any MDF, I have cut 10 mm cedar with 6 passes. Sorry I can't offer more.

Do you know if you are able to cut say .05" stainless steel with the regular D1??
@TheClackShack2 жыл бұрын
No, you cannot cut metal. Scratch stainless but only after alot of passes

Do you have a (starter) spread sheet on Speed/Power (etc) for different material? Thanks r/
@TheClackShack Жыл бұрын
I have a few written down but mostly, I have learned to run tests on each batch. Material can change from batch to batch.
