You may not be cutting bag panels with this, but for those of us making leather pocket items, wallets, passport covers, notepad covers, this could be a game changer. Not to mention your leather scrap projects, patches, keychains, earrings. I’m not dropping a few thousand tomorrow, but definitely worth some research.

I have had one of these machines since the early bird specials were out and to me the biggest advantage is leather engraving and cutting, glass etching and deep wood engraving. Clean leather cuts, beautiful glass engraving (without prep) and deep wood engraving that rivals a CNC machine without burning. Try glass and wood engraving and let us know what you think. Oh and one more thing to get dark wood burning try defocus by about 10 mm high.

I ordered one last night. I have a very specific use for it that I think I will get my money back in about six months. They have all kinds of discounts that you can get so it doesn't cost you $4,500.00 in the end. Look at it this way, the first time I wanted to buy a laser was about thirty years ago. The laser I was looking at was $15,000.00. I now own a 50 watt fiber laser, and a 55 watt CO2 laser with a 700mmx500mm working area, and a 10 watt diode laser. Now that I am adding the UV laser, I am still more than $3,000.00 short of what I was going to spend on a laser 30 years ago. A tool is worth what it will make you or the time it will save you. I tell everyone that is how I spend my cigarette money every year. (Lasers are cheaper, and you have something to show for it at the end of the year)

Great video! I know you are very busy but three questions 1) I bought the IR module for metal. 2) Can I also use it effectively on glass or should I just use the regular 40W with CerMark? 3) What if I actually want to etch the glass some rather than just leaving CerMark behind on the glass? Thank!
@TheClackShackКүн бұрын
With the blue or IR, you will need to use marking spray or some form of interaction layer. You can also use tempera paint to get a different look. I would use the 40 watt unless you needed more detail.

@ Good to know. As I understand it, Dow had to sell Pyrex and Corning Ware off (to the Chinese I believe) in order to cover the breast implant lawsuit judgements. Since then, it seems to me that quality has declined, certainly in my experience Corelle is not what it used to be. However, Pyxex is a low thermal expansion glass, so it is interesting that you were able to create the micro-cracking that makes up the "engraving", leaving continued usability the only remaining question. I see two areas of concern, (1) will repeated thermal cycling expand the cracking process started by the laser (2) will the micro-cracking permit ingress of foreign substances such as water, oils, or food particles. Either process could lead to anything from degrading the appearance of the engraving, to the destruction of the dish. Thanks for the video. The dish looks awesome, and it would be a great trophy for a cooking contest, or gift for someone who loves to cook.

Handy tip I got from another video... you can do the math right in the height and width boxes avoiding the calculator! So you would build your initial box using the circumference from the rotary settings. Duplicate that box. Then in the height box enter the 276.460/2 and it will do the math and change the height of the selected box for you. :)
