Maybe I'm overthinking it but, Kushina's 'Demon side' is likely the Shinigami's way of punishing Kushina for severing it's hand. And her 'Demon side' being possessive of Naruto is probably because of Shinihami's hand being sealed in Naruto, Which gives Naruto a form of divinity and presumably an indirect form of adoption, Unless Naruto unknowingly placed a curse on Kushina by wishing for a mother to love him, And without knowing it using the power from Shinigami's hand sealed in him, Which spawned a demoness with fiercely protective motherly tendencies.

I can't see Kushina not taking care of both her children. After all the Uzumaki, Senju and Inuzuka clan placed family and clan first. Uzumaki clan: Descendants of Asura Otsutsuki, the Uzumaki clan is known for their strong familia bonds and exceptional sealing abilities. Their history shows a dedication to protecting their clan and using their powers to safeguard their loved ones. Senju clan: Sharing a similar ancestry with the Uzumaki, the Senju clan also deeply valued family loyalty. Their leader, Hashirama Senju, is a prime example of this, prioritizing peace and unity, which often involved putting the needs of his clan first. Inuzuka clan: The Inuzuka clan's unique bond with their loyal companion dogs further emphasizes the importance of family ties. Their fighting style relies on trust and cooperation to their commitment to their clan unit. That's why I cant see Kushina favoring one child over the other. People who does these what if's hasn't watch Naruto or read the Manga.
