A few weeks ago I tried a new premade croissant. It looked too perfect. Tasted a little weird. I read label, I saw in very small print, made with bioengineered ingredients! Didn't know what that meant till I looked it up!! I fixed a cup of green tea & drank water rest of day. Things like that, is just wrong!

Anyone else paused the video and went to the kitchen to check the acidity of the vinegar? I did! 😄 Fortunately mine is 5%. Besides using it to clean, with the 4% vinegar you can make salad dressings and also add it to sauces or stews that you are going to eat the same day, that way it does not go to waste. Thank you Ms. Heart 💚

In Australia we can only get 4% acidity vinegar. What you need to do is multiply your vinegar quantity in a recipe by 1.25 to get the amended amount you need to use in a recipe. Example - if you need to use 4 cups of vinegar in your brine recipe, then multiply by 1.25 which will give you 5 cups of vinegar i.e. 1 additional cup. Reduce your water or other liquid quantity by the equivalent amount i.e. 1 cup, so if your brine recipe calls for 12 cups of water, reduce by 1 cup to 11 cups. That calculation will maintain your 5% acidity in a brine recipe. The 1.25 calculation works in any recipe and it’s our only choice in Australia if we want to pickle using a U.S. recipe.

Get a ph meter and check your canned food. So if you are not sure if you used the right % vinegar in your recipe I would open the jar and test it for it’s acidity. If it’s below 4.6 you don’t need to throw away and can safely eat it.

Adding more volume doesn't increase acidity.. you would need to add more acid, like vitamin C via Lemon or Lime or a food grade Citric Acid

Thank you for the reminder! Vinegar is good in the wash as a substitute for fabric softener. It leaves absolutely no odor. Cleans your machine, too! I have discovered vinegar and dish soap in my garden walkways for weed suppression. There is a recipe out there with Epsom salts as the 3rd ingredient. It doesn't work as well as just vinegar and dish soap. In a clean sprayer-1 gallon vinegar and 1 tablespoon blue dawn dish soap. I mow my weeds down first, then apply solution liberally. Should be done when there is a rain free window of a couple days. Unlike Roundup, this is completely safe to use around pets.

Vinegar for cleaning only? Never heard about. Or do you mean essential vinegar with 30% accidity? We have that in Germany called "Essigessenz" and it has 30%. You can use it for canning too (or prepare a vinegrette), but you must thin it with water.

Vinegar is vinegar. For cleaning only labeling is a marketing ploy to increase the price. For all cooking and cleaning any 4 to 7% acidity vinegar will work. All vinegars are diluted with water to reach the wanted acidity level. You can use a pH test to measure your acidity level. 5% acidity has a pH of 2 to 3.

When preserving food they gotta do it safely!!!. Mrs. H ,is the bees knees. . Vinegar is really goof for cleaning , it’s awesome for naturalizing pet smells, it’s awesome for windows in the house and car windows. Even cleaning rims. On your wheels. Say if u left clothes in the wash a little too long, u wash those clothes again and still smell mildew from leaving in wash to long the first time. All u gotta do is add a vinegar quarter cup of vinegar to the load and wash again,it’s good to I wouldn’t waste it would definitely use4% on other stuff. Thank you for making us alert to this. We really have to be vigilant about everything. Really need to pick up my game and get to making some vinegar…. Adding that to my Fall plans

One other note. Vinegar is diluted with water to get the acidity down to obtain the 5% and 4% levels.

Right after the Oreo's is vinegar. Thank you Mrs H. Looks like we will be checking everything we buy, cheap generic or not. We appreciate your fact checking for us.

It was a few weeks ago that I saw a gallon of white vinegar in the hardware store in the weed control aisle. It was an "aha" moment ...30% acidity...jug was $30. Thanks for highlighting the need to be aware about %age. I had no idea.
I ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE!
