This was an interesting scene, but it convinced me to NEVER play as Astarion. I need to HEAR HIM. I couldn't bear to lose out on the best voice acting in a game FULL of premium-quality voice actors. Neil Newbon is just the best.

The most devastating part is that on the early release, all of the VAs narrated what their characters were thinking depending on the actions chosen by the player, so you could get an even more in-depth vibe and actually hear Astarion / the other Origin characters.

Honestly the best part of playing Origin Astarion is that I hear him so much! Just walking along, checking in crates, and all the perception checks that have the player character commenting on something nearby. It's all in his voice. The only part it's lacking is in the conversation dialogue.

I have a theory that since Petras was sort of spared some of the worst of the abuse since Cazador focused more on Astarion. Then Leon came along and became the favorite, with Astarion still getting the worst punishments.

I found them in an inn and they both just disappeared away without talking to me, though I wasn't playing Astarion origin. I didn't realise you could talk to them (still going through my playthrough at the moment).

They do that if you or a party member has the blood of Lathandar equipped, since it has a passive blinding feature for undead. They dont have nearly this much to say to Tav as they say here, though.

​@@primrosettthat's what I realised. So if you spare all of them and the spawn also with that gur hunter and you meet them and his kids in the undercitt with it on the kids run away and the gur goes aggro and attacks you.

I love all the characters voice acting so I don’t think I’ll ever be able to play origin characters unless I can hear them actually speak. I just wish Tav could speak just imagine some of the lines from the Dark Urge Tav.

I have some primal repulsive instinct toward these vampiric types and they give me the ick. I killed these two as soon as I saw them and I never kill “civilians” in bg3. I am just now finding out they were Astarion’s siblings lol.

I understand the impulse, but you lose out on so much when you just kill NPCs out of hand instead of talking to them. There's so much dialogue available that can enhance or further the story. Or is just plain hilarious, haha. I'd hate to miss out. I always feel bad for players who kill Astarion or Lae'zel immediately and never get to see their story arcs, because they're snarky or abrasive in the beginning. But then, there's really no wrong way to play the game, and it has infinite replayability, so I hope they find different things next time.

It's funny that the voice actor won Best Performance, but when you play as him he doesn't talk in conversations only gameplay.

I think the teeth are because they are younger spawn than him. I think he's Caz's second spawn? I have to imagine they use a glamour or something to hide the glowing eyes and pointy teeth. But yeah... Astarion has had 200 years of maturing into a vampire and the only thing holding him back from being a true vampire is Cazador not granting him it. I think it looks too silly, though, and they should have at least toned it down to make them more convincingly attractive. Theoretically, when Astarion was first a spawn I guess he'd have had the shark teeth, too, though that doesn't make for great fan art as it doesn't suit him at all.

Petras has only been tortured 100 years at this point, while ast was for 200 whole years. 100 years difference. He did this all out of survival instinct. Its not an excuse to be a bad person, but it is the root of his behaviour.
