Listen, I'm in tears. Legit tears, so good job, gold star for you. I really loved how it starts off with showing us how cold and cruel true vampires could be. Then the rest is just how 'alive', real, and feeling Astarion is and can be. Showing us not just how romantic and sweet, but vulnerable and, more often than not, very silly. So yeah I loved it.

​@@RobotnikPlngas Ascended Vampire: vampires that have committed virtuous actions which caused them to "ascend" from disgrace through exhilaration, were purified by unnatural causes or rebelled against the forces of darkness. To ascend means to "removing all undead weaknesses from the vampire and giving him back pleasures of the living." (These include: weakness to sunlight not beeing able to see their own refelction etc.) But it also comes with a high price, doing so creates a fullblood vampire. A mostly manipulative, power-hungry beast Spoilers (Quest): In Astarions main quest, you have to stop his "master" Cazador. He tries to sacrifice all his spawns to become a ascended vampire, thus loosing all the weaknesses of beeing a vampire in the process . After you defeted Cazador you have the option to either let Astarion perform the ritual himself or to free his Vampire spawn brothers and sisters. However turning Astarion into a ascended Vampire, also turns him into Cazador 2.0. He becomes extremly powerhungry and possessiv. If you romance him and try to break up, he will decline and tell you that you belong to him.

@@Louves192 Ohhhhhhh, man. I totally blanked out on that, I just remembered why. When this happened to me, I stopped him from ascending, he got super pissed off and called me a bitch and left the party forever. I deleted all of it from my mind.

@@RobotnikPlngas no, they mean him completing the ritual Cazador was about to make. Basically you’re gonna go fight Cazador and once you defeat him Astarion can either complete the ritual (which means killing 7000 vampire spawns) and gain more power but more specifically also become very sinister and controlling towards your Tav (basically be similar to Cazador), or can stay who he is, break the cycle of abuse and rely on others instead of taking power just to stop being afraid.

You know, I don't usually romance him, but when I do, that hug always tear me up. He is so cute, and deserve so much love. I would give him and Gale the world. Those two deserve everything.

I'm obsessed with that Ascended dialogue option because on a normal route that's the ONLY time he drops the facade and looks genuinely taken aback. You can almost see Spawnstarion peeking out through his eyes, like he's thinking "but if I was enough then why did I have to become *this*?"

since I new that Astarion would be an asshole when he ascends, I refused to let him. I saw him, let him be my companion, then lover and I refuse to let him break because of power.

His "scene" ascended might be 🌶 but I love Spawn him and how he is a perfect mix of sweet and sassy. He's truly the ideal man that way. The ideal partner, as he said, equals.
