How bad ass are the Astartes? They stand twice as tall as a full grown man. They board enemy ships by loading themselves into a literal torpedo and firing themselves at the enemy. Their standard weapon is basically a rapid fire grenade launcher that they can wield like a rifle when most men can't even carry it. They react to being hit with Rocket's, 50 Cal rounds and heavy Las fire with at best slight annoyance. One of them can take on an entire enemy platoon with no problem. They kill without mercy or hesitation and don't care about pain, injury or death. Any further questions or are you ready to bow to the God Emperor and his Avenging Angels now?

Explanations ahead, may be spoilery. Okay, some info for you: The astartes used a boarding torpedo to board the rebel ship, and yes, it is exactly what it sounds like. The crew of the ship are just rebels, no known outside influence was involved. The psykers were just that, psykers. They are both missing opposite arms, and the mask thing is a psychic hood, allowing for greater control over their powers and increased protection from daemonic possession. the reason the astartes removed the spine thing was because it was part of the hood and removing it removed the threat. As for the lack of blood, I can only assume it was because of the use of combat knives over bolters. And in regards to the electric look to everything, it is representation of the amount of psychic power being used. If you want a far more comprehensive breakdown, check out the two videos Arch Warhammer has done regarding this series: kzbin.info/www/bejne/inq9m3aAgsaFZ68 kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGexe4WwbMegg5I

A Warhammer fan with twenty years of experience here. Psykers shown in the short film, at the level of theta, which means the average level of strength and the most common. And now, to feel the whole grimdark of the universe, I will say that there is still: Zeta, Delta, Epsilon, gamma, beta, alpha and alpha+. Alpha+ was the Emperor, the gods of chaos, and some Eldar. Gamma beta is rare but found among the Inquisition. Astronomicon consists of almost all level of gamma. Alpha can act on a planetary scale and alpha+ can literally change the reality of the universe. Now remember that, the stronger psyker, the more chaotic he is. That's what Warhammer is.

Creator and the team just put to much on their plates and couldn’t find the money or time to get it all together by the end, and as time passed on the project a few of the team had to abandon it for personal reasons and the main creator himself ran into difficulties in real life which also caused him to pull out. GW didn’t shut it down, all you can say is GW - at the time of its making - said that the creators could not make money off the project - to which also complie: to both Richard Boyland this Astartes creator - so you could say GW caused financial problems but overall the project just turned out to be too large and external problems in the real world lead to Inquisitors failure. Richard Boyland on the other hand spend years creating Helsreach off his own time and back solo. Thankfully he didn’t run into much personal problems during his making and having less requirement on waiting for Voice Actors also helps as majority of the Audio is from the Audiobook.

Since there is no dialogue at all so far, it's difficult to tell what EXACTLY is happening (apart from the obvious, obviously), but it's probably worth to consider that the two psykers the Marines fought in part 4 may NOT have been affilliated with Chaos. There wasn't demonic writing on their skin, they wore masks/helmets commonly known as psychic hoods. Nothing about them - nor the soldiers the Marines destroyed earlier - seems overtly Chaotic. Chaos corruption is easily noticeable unless in the very initial stages and this is supposed to be the mop up after a failed rebellion, so if those people were true heretics, we should have seen obvious mutations and evil, spike-y vibes... and we didn't. I suspect that the rebels are just that - rebels who tried to secede from the Imperium for whatever reason and failed. And now the Inquisition is cleaning up using the titular Astartes to do the dirty work. The big question is what's in the vault the psykers were protecting?

My theory is those 2 Psykers are neuro-linked "flesh dolls" (kind of like brain dead battle-servitors, specifically augmented for control through a Psychic link, and controlled as 2 separate halves of one "psychic being" - hence why each only uses the opposite hand...) and are guarding a heretic/rouge "Navigator" of the Navis Nobilite... Navigators are EXTREMELY powerful Psykers that are the ones who guide Imperial ships through warp translations. They steer a ship through the tides and streams of the warp by the guiding light of the Astronomicon, all while being extremely resistant to Chaos influence and the constant bombardment of daemons trying to break through the vessel's void shields and materialise aboard the ship. Also, "Navigators" tend to be housed in a phereical "Navigator's Sanctum" to focus, meditate, and augment their psychic power for steering an entire W40K sized ship through the Immaterium. - "On every Imperial Warp-capable interstellar starship, the sanctum of the Navigators was a domain unto itself. Typically designed to resemble a spheroid between two to ten decks in diameter" source: warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Navigator... A Rebel Navigator is very much an escalation in urgency of a situation, and a very just cause for sending of an Astartes Kill Team.. Also, just because they are rebelling from the Imperium, does not automatically mean "Chaos"... If Imperial strength wanes over generations in a sector/sub-sector - planets sometimes forget about the Imperium of Man's might and their populations rebel to overthrow the local government. Then - if the world is important enough, and diplomacy or the local garrisons of Imperial Guard are overwhelmed/turncoats then either the Inquisition, Officio Assasinorum or Astartes are sent in to bring the world/sector to heel. I'd say from the lack of demonic or genetic mutations on the soldiers, and the cleanliness of the traitor ship, that it's not Chaos or genestealer cults - It's just a rebelling faction of humanity.

Quick update guys, a very small GIF from episode 5 has been released (on Astartes channel) and the rumour is the next full episode (5) is going to be released over the christmas holidays, ya gotta love this guy, his work is truly outstanding, please pop over to his patreon and help him out, even a few quid or dollars would show him the love for his work, I think he deserves it especially after all that crap he got from the shytehawk who stole his channel. BTW thanks youtube for sorting that out, seriously appreciated guys :)

The psykers at the end had to be a more serious challenge than anyone who came before, including the heavy weapon specialists, to make this a truly interesting series.

Yeah, that's the standard Astartes boarding method. "But the Masked Guy's face remains to remain concealed..."
It truly sucks that the KZbin channel by this creator was hacked, hijacked and KZbin isn't helping.

The Astartes films take place in 482.M39; Krieg rebelled in 433.M40 if Lexicanum is to be believed, and said rebellion was a long time in the making apparently. The films also refer to the incident as the "Argosa Uprisings." Given that Argosa doesn't seem to exist in canon, as well as the plural "uprisings" and the fact Astartes had to get involved suggesting a large scale rebellion, makes it plausible, though very unlikely, that Krieg was involved somehow.

The circular pods are automated kamikaze decoys (imagine servoscull in a big helmet, ment to drag fire from your dropship). The masked gigants were either rougue psykers, or psykers loyal to rogue planetary governor. The spinaly metal thingy from their heads were psi-amplifiers. Purely mechanicaly, it is not possible to induce psi capabilities. Also, not twisted enough for dark mechanicus and DEFINETLY not men of iron (simple hint - live human eyes). For men of iron, please check google and wiki for wh40k UR-025., because that man of iron is still working, under fake imperial blessing from mechanicus. And looks extra different than those two gigant psyker leaders. Another point worth mentioning - men of iron did not had psykers, although probably did have either enslaved, or some replacement for navigators, because could traverse the space on FTL speeds.

FYI Airiergames space marines are approximately 10 feet tall thats why they are so tall and also in regards to the "dark apostals" i believe are based of a group of people during the great crusade by the Emperor of Mankind where they had wholy embraced mechanical bodies similar to the mechanicus but on a higher level some where said too look perfectly human i can't remember what they where called or where they were from

The insertion at the start of #2 is rather detailed if you look at it. The fighter craft, since it's faster, goes on ahead to draw fire from the battleship, the drones intercept missiles, with the dropship have a turret to shoot down any missiles that aren't intercepted, and then they laser-bore in to the ship's hull to penetrate deep within it.

Btw their arms arent missing guys, they are hidden underneath their cloak. You can even see the arms below. Pause at 0:26 of the fourth chapter and you can see their arms.

Personally I thought they were wearing carved metal masks, but they could just as easily have been face-plates.

I think those psychers were conjoined twins. One's missing his left arm the other his right, hence why they're covered there.

Dude, its a boarding Torpedo. Did anyone notice the Marine in the darkness taking out the sniper nest ?
@Lost_in_the_Blink5 жыл бұрын
Dude, the level of detail is insane right. The Marine taking out the sniper nest and the Renegade with the shape charge are just awesome little details. Took me about 30 watches to fully appreciate the sniper nest scene. The lighting and timing of the gun shots are just amazing.

Dark_Drogon mentioned that those spine like things on the back of their heads could be psychic hoods, which I’m inclined to agree with, but there is something different about them. The technology involved. I think what these 2 individuals were guarding at the end was a partial s.t.c. They used it to develop their personal technology, as if it were a full one the space marines would have had no chance. This also explains why they seem extremely cybernetic as a mechanicus would.

I believe the circular pod thingies are used as advanced Flares, disrupting missiles.
@infernaloz64865 жыл бұрын
This series to me, makes me think of one word in relation to Astartes, "implacable". Nothing disturbed them, even after being psy assualted the Astartes simply stood up, sheathed his knife (in time with his brother) and continued on with the mission. That to me is what exemplifies the Astartes, not the soy boy version of the "Ultramarines" movie discussing their feelings. Just unstoppable, unrelenting killing machines coming for you
@multiversepatriot31483 жыл бұрын
To this day, the only gripe I have is that the autocannon has more than enough power to splatter that Astartes. The multilaser I get being a no sell, but an autocannon? C’mon

So that turret gunner probably could have killed that one marine if he had held his fire till most of the men cleared. The marine had only just stepped into the hallway allowing him to get out of the way. If he had waited the marine would have been trapped and he could have been cut down by the massed fire finding a weak point

Love how he even made the rebel ship an actual ship from the lore. Dauntless mk2 is maybe my favourite light cruiser ever.

According to the creator, the guys in masks are just rogue human Psykers that lead a rebellion and it failed, they were part of the ruling class of the sector. They had some illicit augments but still just humans. As for the video this is how Space Marines are supposed to be portrayed. Killing the enemies of the Imperium is their reason for being and they do it well without hesitation. They're so far above a normal human, even one trained to fight that this kind of operation is like stepping on cockroaches. As far as these Astartes are concerned the human soldiers have turned their backs on the Emperor and the Imperium and so they get death.

Something I realize is that the Marines are absolute Units! They are 8ft tall Giants in essentially tank armor with two hearts 3 lungs and such. And that's just the standard Marine higher rank officers are bigger and stronger and the emperor himself is like 12 ft tall and could probably lift a tank, basically unlike most empires the emperor isn't just a leader he's probably the strongest of them all
@Horesmi5 жыл бұрын
The writing on the masks isn't chaos, at least not the usual chaos. They are very likely just rebels, fighting for lower taxes or something. Imperium quite often faces rebellions that have nothing to do with chaos. The guy wasn't mowing down his own troops because he was evil. The plan was clearly for the troops to run all the way through the corridor, lure the space marine out of cover, get the troops out of line of fire and then mow down the marine with lots and lots of lasgun fire while he tries to run for cover. But the shooter saw a *massive* marine, panicked, shot his own troops and gave the marine time to get into cover.

By the way those psyker are using psykic hoods and some type of psykic dampener as that spinal chord looking device on their backs, these guys have one missing arms because they were ritually bonded together as Psykers, since they are both so good at working together and moving as if knowing each other’s own action before they are started is showing then are likely both biological brothers, bond brothers most likely to be honest. The Astartes ep1 intro tell there is a rebellion going on and that the Imperium sent Space Marines to stop this crazy rebellion, and usually, Space Marines aren’t sent usually to quell rebellions, but this rebellion was really bad to the Imperium considering the crazy rare Astra Militarum wargear in usage like a double barreled Multilaz Turret, a man portable autocannon, 2 well equipped psykers and a plethora of other equipment like missile launchers and heavy stubbers. So this rebellion must’ve been on some key world or some space in a system.

I think their boarding ship was a Corvus assault Ram, tough as hell that fires nuclear meltdown at the ship just before impact to turn the armour to slag so the ram can just punch into pretty much liquid ship

Astartes are literal walking tanks with weapons to match. Only one squad is needed to wipe out the entirety of a world’s armies. Most depictions of W40k Space Marines are not shown well.

i will say while i absolutely adore these animations. that auto cannon and the twin-linked multi-las should have been kills. both if we go off of the tabletops, the RPG's and general lore. still absolutely awesome though.

Autocannon only scored one glancing hit before being neutralized, Multilas didn't fire for long enough to deal intimidate damage.

@AirierGames these are very low-level Psykers. They were enhanced by a lot of gear. Psychic hood and it seems they are brothers since they are linked by energy. Also one is missing the right hand and another is missing the left one. A high-level Psyker would tear SM apart in seconds. About the blood, I have no clue really...
@airis83455 жыл бұрын
Maybe the psykers were connected because in the lore there is spiritual connection (i think i dont remember correctly i have to check that again but now i am bored) so maybe thats why when they killed the first one the other one blanked for a second due to fact there connected in a way (maybe this also explains for the missing hand for the both of them which could be like a soul-to-soul ritual for them to be connected idk maybe.I have to check more carefully )
